Mass Effect 2

Definitely Arrival. Overlord is a fun little distraction but has no bearing on the main plot (at least as far as I can tell. Arrival is basically the epilogue to ME2/prologue to ME3.

Since I'm about at the halfway point of ME2 right now, with a few loyalty missions still undone and haven't finished with the Collector IFF mission, if I get Arrival when should I do it? Maybe I should wait until I'm already at the end of the game to activate this mission?

You can do it anytime after Horizon if I'm not mistaken. I believe some of the dialogue even changes depending on where you are in the game.

I did it before the Collector IFF mission. Will try after the suicide mission next time to see what has changed.

Just finished Arrival on Insanity, took me about 1hr 1/2 - 2 hrs due to the difficulty.

I'd probably rate it above Overlord but below Shadowbroker, probably an 8/10.

I'd rate it higher but we really could have gotten our team back during the second half. The first bit with stealthing the Batarian base was fine but ME2's a squad game and it kind of shows when your fighting for so long alone.

Still, the story bits were really neat. The Reaper stuff was a bit disappointing with nothing essentially being accomplished but the other stuff with the the dr lady and Hackett and the Batarians was all really well done and pretty interesting and a testament to how the ME universe is growing past the need for a Reaper threat in order to entertain.

This is a pretty good DLC, it just has the unfortunate luck of coming off of the heels of Shadowbroker so it seems lesser for it, but all in all a good prologue to ME3

You rate everything an 8/10.

That's how I roll, man.

Actually one moment I really liked was when [BLACKOUT]Shepard escaped from the medical bay and was suiting up and looked at the timer with less than two hours left before the invasion and muttered something to the effect of "Not much time," that combined with the music that was kicking in really just made that scene for me.

I think that and the bit when Shepard decides to destroy the entire system killing the Batarians in the blast where my favorite parts of the DLC. [/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, I liked the [BLACKOUT]"Not much time..."[/BLACKOUT] line too. It reminded of something from another game or maybe a movie. I can't put my finger on what it was though.

Edit: MGS4 maybe? I don't know.

I'm glad I didn't have to break my thumb trying to get Shepard to crawl through a reactor core.

Yep. This is what I was thinking of.

Quick Question. Does importing my character at the end of the game, back to the beginning of the game effect the save file that would be sent into Mass Effect 3? Or does it create a new file so I can make different decisions?

Just played through Lair of the Shadow Broker. That was :awesome: It even improved my opinion of Liara, although I'm still not sure I completely buy her switch from archaeologist to seedy info broker.

Still, 'twas badass.

So I experienced a weird glitch tonight. I started a new character, and during the prequel comic I chose Ashley over Liara for my romantic interest. But then I saved Kaiden and let Ashley die. The comic played along and skipped over Shepard sleeping with anyone. But then after the first level, when you are in the shuttle with Miranda and Jacob, Jacob tells me that I left Kaiden behind to die.

Okay, I'm done with the Shadow Broker mission. As I was roaming around the Broker HQ, I noticed a place where I can spend credits to influence the politics and events across the galaxy. What exactly does it do after I spend the credits? Do I get anything in return, like a new mission, XP, or more credits?

Well, I finally decided on a loyalty power, and that is Armor-Piercing Ammo. I don't want to get the powers that will share CD with my Adrenaline Rush ability, which is my bread-and-butter. And although Warp Ammo can deal decent damage against Barrier (in addition to armor and health), I can take care of Barrier with Disruptor Ammo anyway, and Warp deals less damage than Armor-Piercing. I hope I won't regret this decision later though; 5K Element Zero is definitely NOT cheap.

Anyone use the default Shepard look or has everyone created their own appearance?

For my "main" Shepard I use the default male appearance simply because his face is more detailed than anything you can make in the character creator.

Yeah, my main Shepard is the default character model.

The rest of my playthroughs are/will be created characters.
