Mass Effect 3 - - - Part 12

I'm downloading it right now, maybe I'll have the time to check it out tomorrow or later in the week.

I don't think anything, short of a new game touting whatever new changes to the gameplay or fiction, could realistically convince anyone to jump in now. New installments, and the hype they bring, usually is the light that starts the fire.

It was already on the third game, which I still think is usually a barrier for newbies. I know I always find myself going out and buying the older ones or an HD Colection before going into a third installment.

I'm...cautiously optimistic about it. I'll see what goes down.

I'm honestly not familiar with him saying you could beat the Reapers with just the military.

He very specifically stated in an interview that defeating the Reapers wouldn't involve any kind of deus ex machina, and that you would have to do it with the resources you gather and the decisions you've made across the three games. I might be misremembering, but I think he may have even gone so far as to say jokingly (as if it were a silly, completely preposterous idea) that you wouldn't find some kind of magical anti-Reaper device.

Before you ask, I don't have a link. I wish I could find the interview, but whenever I search for it (or almost anything Mass Effect-related really) I can only come up with stuff regarding the controversy surrounding the ending. :/

I see, well just on the topic of deus ex machina, the crucible wouldn't actually count as one. Its introduced at the start of 3 and needing the catalyst soon thereafter. They also foreshadowed it at the end of Shadowbroker with Liara realizing the SB was looking through Prothean leads for a solution.

So I'm just wondering. Is it worth wasting £5 to rent ME3 (I sold mine) or is it really just worth youtube'ing it?

I guess unless you had some weirdly specific conditions you could probably find a close approximation for your ending type on youtube.

lol, I didn't even consider the uploaded to youtube EC endings differing much from any of my potential playthroughs (I wonder why :oldrazz:). Though what I'm mainly getting at is it worth playing it at all?

I don't see how it would be.

It only changes the end, doesn't it? Far as I know, there's no new gameplay changes, no new weapon, no new levels or anything.

I downloaded and played through it earlier today, and it wasn't bad. Upon my first play through, I accidentally made a choice at the end of the game. Therefore, I just picked the same thing to see what it would add to my ending. What was included is good and does fill in some blanks. As someone who didn't really hate the previous ending, I just didn't feel that this did much for me. Everything was nice but there was nothing huge.

Nah. There are a couple of new scenes prior to the ending, but it isn't like there is an actual change in gameplay. Your experience wouldn't be that different by just watching the endings on youtube. The only things that I really see different from video to video are the love interests and the appearances (or lack thereof) of characters that you already lost.

Dude......I just got so excited when I heard there was a "Refusal" option, and then my excitement was completely and utterly squashed when I found out what happens as a result.

What a lame move.

People wanted the option to say no and BW gave it to them, there was really only one possible result of trying to take the Reapers head on.

And in any case its still not a totally downer ending, with the next cycle finding Liara's time capsule.

So do people hate the extended cut as well? Iv got it downloaded but I need to finish my run of ME2 before I head to ME3. Also gotta get through ASM and then Dawnguard

So far the general consensus seems to be that the endings are better now, how much varies on person to person.

cool to hear so far then. i'll check it out when I can.

That's pretty much what every one else wanted when they said they wanted closer. those that actually said it in those words, and explained it as such.

Does it explain how the hell the 2 squad members that were with you magically get on the normandy?

Also, i watched the destory extended ending on youtube... really thinking shepard will be back.

lol don't expect too much on that part of them magically appearing when you left them some place else, to be explained. I just bet after you re play it to get to the end it'll just not do that any more.

Yes - and that sequence is actually imo the STANDOUT moment of the dlc. Especially if you have your love interest with you.

[blackout] The goodbye to Tali was absolutely heartbreaking. [/blackout]

Can anyone tell me what they changed or added to the synthesis ending?

Also, apparently one of the endings now makes a nod towards the IT?

I don't hate the extended cut at all. I just think that it would have meant more to me if it had existed on my first play through.

I was thinking that as well. Unfortunately, it was Javik filling that role for me. lol
