Mass Effect 3 - Part 2

I don't want to see Shepard return after Mass Effect 3. And to be honest, I don't really care what happens to him/her at the end either. I mean, as long as it makes sense and doesn't feel like it came completely out of left field and as long as it's done well, Shepard's fate doesn't matter all that much to me.

I agree. I'd rather them expand the franchise and focus on the universe than keeping up with Shepard.

I feel like Shepard is just one person in this new, well established universe. I'm not surprised that 3 is Shepards last game, and kinda relieved it is. Shepards been through a lot, and deserves a rest.

If they do make future games, I hope they create a "canon" story that they can grow the universe from. I mean we know that the Reapers will be able to win ME3, so not much sequel room there.

^^ this.

I mean, I wouldn't mind Shepard's legacy ( or more specifically, "our" Shepard's legacy ) referenced in future ME games, but I would like to play as another protagonist.

and maybe, we will be able to choose from different races ala DAO or the Elder Scroll games........

that probably won't be likely due to the voiced protagonist......but still.......one can dream.......lol

On the whole "This is the end of Shepard", while I love Shepard, I'm more worried that we'll never seen any of his teammates again. Garrus, Tali, Wrex, Zaeed, etc... have become some of my favorite characters in gaming. I'd be sad if ME3 is the last I see of them.

While I think it will definitely be the last we see of some of them, characters like EDI, Liara, Wrex and others could potentially show up even if the game takes place many years after ME3 - assuming they survive of course.

Shepard is the type of person where if you **** with his home he will **** with you. I doubt he would just sit on the sidelines during the next invasion. If they want a Shepardless game it will have to be in a completely different time then 1 - 3. A time where no character we know is born yet. Or with their descendants

And Liara is a Matriarch and talks with reverence about Commander Shepard.

Does the talents you pick and the difficulty setting you play carry over from ME1 to ME2? Or is it only your choices in the game that does?

I wouldn't mind the next series of games to take place many years in the future.

it would be interesting to see how the "world" has evolved further in a few hundred years or so......

I'm cool with Shepard not returning... But I feel him dying... Again, would be fairly lame.

why would Shepard retire? How does one live a normal quiet life after saving the galaxy from an army of gigantic, sentient organic machines? :D

I hardly care about no Shepard in another game. He's only a great character because he is whatever we make him to be. If Bioware give us another open template character, it won't be long before he essentially fulfills all the criteria we need to make our perfect character.

I wish there was name recognition so that we could actually use our names. Then the character truly would be you.

That'd be cool, but I'd still use a different name I think. With these RPG games, even though you're making the decisions, it's never really so much emulating that this person is you, more that you are this person.

Iv always felt the opposite. I feel that the character I'm playing is myself, in that setting. I dont become someone else, they become me. Thats generally why i love these games. The lead character isn't someone else's design, its me. But i understand what ya mean. Like so many other elements with these RPG's thats just another that you can approach differently.

If they expand the universe into new games I would love to still have my actions count. Hopefully they could let you import your saved games into that so that the new games pick up where you left off. Say for instance that in the end of part 3 you decide to side with the Reapers. In the new games you can play in a world where Shepard is the villain that you ended up creating. It would be pretty fun.

Yeah, but the property changed hands between companies during that time (from Bungie to 343). Halo 3 was no doubt intended to be the last Master Chief installment. Hopefully the same won't happen with ME.

Didn't you see Halo 3's after credits scene? Bungie left some room for Chief to return.

I think the difference here is that its in Bioware's interest to change protagonists before the imports become unmanageable.

I could see that being a problem. Perhaps for Shepard's return (if he doesn't die across all playthroughs), you'd just be able to decide the decisions made in the first trilogy similar to the ME1 digital comic they have for PS3 players.

Yeah, I wouldn't even really call 343 a different developer. They're more like "The Developers formally known as Bungie."

Extremely easy since you saved the entire galaxy from an army of gigantic, sentient organic machines? :oldrazz:
