Mass Effect 3 - Part 2

Yeah, horde mode would be so useless in a game like this. Co-op would be a dream, but then again, it's usually a polarizing feature, and I always fall on the pro co-op side.

Co-op for everygame, everywhere!:cmad:

Yeah, I'm starting to fall in the "co-op for every game" camp... I mean, it would be pretty awesome to meet up with a buddy in say a game like Skyrim.. You'd have to meet up at a bar or something... but still.

Agreed on a co-op 3 person squad type mode. That would be something really neat and different.

And you know, multiplayer worked out pretty well for Assassin's Creed as well ;) .

that would be awesome!!

I was watching a video of Street Fighter x Tekken, and that game has co-op, too. You can team up with a buddy online, practice together.......4 people can join in and have a 2 on 2 simultaneous brawl.

one upside to a ME multi-player mode would be the chance to play as other characters in the ME universe besides Shepard.

You know what they need to bring back? Elevators.

The issue with co-op is it would be extremely problematic. I don't see how it could possibly work without changing what Mass Effect is.

There's way too many things that happen out of combat and in many cases when Shepard is alone (thus the other players are doing nothing) to include cooperative mode without changing the way Mass Effect works on a fundamental level - its not just the dialogue system which in an of itself is a huge problem, but all sorts of things like the power wheel, weapon customization, level up screens, etc.

maybe co-op will only happen on missions.

like when you start the mission, a screen will come up asking if you want to go "solo" or invite other players to join......

I would much rather have any multiplayer component be totally separate from the main campaign, though.

Not sure... maybe your squad mates could roam around the ship as anyone they chose to? I dunno. Not saying it's needed...just that it could be cool if done correctly.

But they wouldn't be able to interact with anyone else.

And the idea of just joining missions seems iffy. ME missions generally last 30 mins to an hour plus change if its a long mission (w/dialogue), you're not in combat that long imo for everyone to feel satisfied. The player controlling Shepard might but anyone else would be relegated to very much a sidekick role.

that's why I think if there is indeed a multi-player component, it will not be co-op during the main campaign but a totally separate mode.

Co-op in a separate "campaign" would be fine, I agree. Something that they can build from the ground up rather than trying to shove it in the main game itself.

^^ exactly.

and besides, do we even know the "big reveal" will be multi-player?

Upset Spideyfan is absolutely right. The structure of Mass Effect really doesn't lend itself well to co-op at all. I would love to see some sort of Mass Effect co-op/multiplayer game in the future though.

Bottom line: I don't care if there's co-op or not... Seriously, I don't.. However, if they ever managed to make it work... or if they had another ME co-op/MMO like game... GREAT!

I think the Devs did mention that they would be open to doing a ME MMO game, after ME3 is done......

Co-op or not, this game is already on pre-order anyway. If they manage to include some sort of co-op, without deluding the single player campaign, I'm looking forward to it.

Well when I mean multiplayer, for co-op it would be two teams trying to take each other out, or a team taking on a Cerberus soldiers or Reapers in waves. Things like that, you know? Or maybe a multiplayer map would have a specific goal.

I probably mentioned that before, but I'd like an Uncharted type co-op. I don't just want to fight waves of enemies, I want to have actual goals and objectives. Scenarios, not just arena fights.

I'd be cool with something like this.......

the question is.......who would we be able to play as in multi-player.....

our own custom Sheps?? all the other squad mates??

I definitely would want to be able to play as either Garrus or Legion.

^ I'd want to play as Tali, of course. :hrt:

but, it would be kind of weird to have 10 different Garrus' or 10 different Talis or 10 Wrexs or 10 Shepards, etc. running around a room blasting each other.

would they even allow multiple players to choose the same character?

Somebody is posting excerpts from their copy of Xbox World concerning the ME3 feature, apparently no multiplayer is mentioned:

Excerpt
The article goes into detail about a few of the quests you'll be tasked with in order to unite the galaxy against the Reapers.

"The first quest we are shown is on the radioactive Turian Homeworld of Palaven. As the Normandy cruises past our view, we are greeted with a giant panoramic scene of life on the planet, complete with roaming beasts, and numerous settlements dotting the horizon. Shepard's shore party is greeted by an armed cadre of Turian military, who request that he surrender his weapons if he is to enter the complex. I chose to use a Renegade approach and insult the Turian commander. One of his subordinates doesn't take kindly to this, and takes a step closer. An interrupt option (taking cues from the second game) allows me to take action. Shepard grabs the young Turian and takes his weapon. My party draws their weapons. Things don't look good for Shepard, he's been on the planet for less than five minutes and a Mexican Stand-off has already occurred."
Excerpt #2
"...Our second quest includes a surprise reveal. We are tasked with finding a group of Hanar scientists that are being held captive on the crime-ridden planet Invictus. The Normandy lands in a local dock where an unexpected, but welcome, Drell assassin greets us. Thane Krios, the companion from Mass Effect 2 is going to be accompanying you on this mission. Thane is suffering from a disease known as 'Kepral's Syndrome,' and the scientists in question are working on a cure for this very sickness... "While Thane is only a temporary companion, you can rest assured that you will feel content with his inclusion."

So Thane's confirmed as a temp squaddie.

I'll post more when the person in question does so.

Damn, I guess that rules him out.

So I guess the returning ME2 characters will be Grunt, Miranda, Jack & Legion. I heard Legion's plays a big role in the story so he HAS to be permanent.
