nothing to do with mass effect, but when i clicked my SHH link, it went to the page, then went to a warning page about something called mirity... anyone else get that today?

just checking, wouldnt want the hype hacked again like a while back

and why the hell does ashley never leave the spaceport, i havent been able do anything with her since the
funeral

The ending to me
feels like watching Return of the King, and stopping immediately after Sauron's tower collapses. Or playing Dragon Age and quitting immediately after the Archdemon is slain. We aren't really given an epilogue or a summation on what happened to everyone. Just some vague inclinations to the Normandy crew and Shepard. But the rest of the ME2 buddies that were on earth fighting? The alien forces that were on earth and now can't leave due to broken relays? Any other notable NPCs? Whole lotta nothing.
They've tweeted to hold on to the save files, and I will. I was just hoping for more closure or clarification before we move on to the next story arc in the Mass Effect universe (which I'm very much looking forward to).

Couldn't have said it better myself.

We have no idea what has happened to many characters/worlds, despite Bioware saying this game would not leave things open.

Oh Miranda, where are you? (rhetorical, dont answer). I got on the Normandy and ran to her old office, hoping to see her only to get dissapointed. She's my most anticipated reunion

Im only early into the game but screw the haters. Loving Vega so far. Dude rocks. I see him and my Shep having a chill bro-mance throughout the the course of the story.

yea hes not so bad once the story gets going, i just hated him when he did the cruiser crap in the beginning.

I finished my first playthrough after like 3 solid days of playing to the exclusion of almost everything else. I liked it a lot, and the haters definitely exaggerate, but I've found that their concerns aren't totally without merit. I'm sure plenty of you are still working on your first playthroughs, so I'll spare the spoilers and just echo the now common sentiment that the ending left a bit to be desired. That said, it's only one ending, so I'll see how other endings on other playthroughs work out.

This particular ME 2 save I imported had a few characters die in ME 2's suicide mission too, so I haven't quite seen all that the game has to offer just yet. I'm working on my worst-case scenario playthrough at the moment, since that'll be the shortest of them, and then I'll try to find some kind of balance between work, schoolwork, and ME 3 for the long haul of my default-faced Renegade Shep that I've taken through both ME 1 and ME 2. Then I gotta go back to ME 2 and finish the saves I have planned to import into ME 3 to see all of the variables. I feel like getting all of my saves in order is like my own Crucible. :awesome:

Oh, Bioware. I am disappointed in you.

lulz, Bioware lies like every other major company in the universe. Big deal.

He really is. I knew he was to some extent based on ME 2, but holy hell does he ever prove it in ME 3. :hehe:

other than the journal (which im starting to get used to more and more, still wish it have more details), my only gripe about me3 is the squad. No krogan? No Salarian? i really expected each race to have a place as a squadmate, or permanent member on the ship... for instance, when you meet up with mordin
he stays on your ship for a little while, then leaves. i was under the impression hed be in the med bay the rest of the game.

There is very little in terms of differences between the 3 potential endings

Sorry corp

That said, I am really starting to believe in the [BLACKOUT]hallucination/indoctrination theories[/BLACKOUT] It just makes too much sense.

Man I hate that there is no longer a Mission Complete screen. I liked those in ME 2

yea i enjoyed those too. i havent seen much of the illusive man yet :(

As i figured, most of those that didn't like the endings completely blew it out of proportion. I felt it the ending(at least the one i got) was great, sad, but still a great end. Granted it offered up more questions, but I'm assuming that will be answered in DLC. I dont really see how they could give us any more DLC and make it fit into this story without it being some kind of epilogue.

Also, a question about the ending i got:

I chose to destroy the reapers. In doing so that also destroyed the mass relays correct? And I'm assuming that means humanity basically went back to square one in terms of space travel? Is that what the little after credits scene was basically saying?

A question to all, I'm in need of some answers. I, like many, have ME1 and 2 saved on my XBox for when I get ME3. But my main problem is that I'm an avid PS3 user and this morning on the PSN store I saw ME 2 and 3 plus the DLC content just sitting there. All for around $120 together.

My main question is if I were to go this route does ME1 REALLY matter? Does it hinder the experience? Have any of you started ME on the PS3? I need answers!

Gracias. -_-

Huh.
[BLACKOUT]I thought it was just immature fanboys/girls whining, but after reading that link, that theory actually makes a lot of sense.
Like a hell of a lot of sense.
I would not be opposed to that either, presuming the promised to come DLC addressed the issue.[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, the highly temporary nature of some characters' returns was a little irritating, particularly if they were favorites of mine in previous games. But the writers did a good job of explaining those characters away, especially the ME 2 returnees. Shepard only recruited them for the suicide mission against the Collectors; once that was done, it's understandable that they'd move on to other responsibilities. It's pretty cool to see how each of them moves on, too.

The love interest thing is a bit awkward in ME 3 to me as well. I get that there are so many romance options by ME 3 that there's really no way to record dialogue and insert rendezvouses with all of them, but the unfortunate result of that complexity is the fact that it straight-up feels like some corners were cut. The Shep whose playthrough I've already completed romanced Liara in ME 1 and stayed faithful through ME 2, so it feels awkward to have to start all over again from square one in ME 3, with Liara and Shep apparently deciding to call the whole thing off, regardless of what you did in "Lair of the Shadow Broker," in the few months between ME 2 and ME 3.

I will say, however, that the platonic friendship between Garrus and Shep was handled extremely well this time around. Garrus was dealing with too much of his own drama in ME 2 with Sidonis and the loss of his team to really feel like he was the loyal number 2 the games sort of set him up to be, but they make up for it in spades in ME 3. Make no mistake: (assuming he's alive) Garrus is the Riker to Shep's Picard in this game, the Chewy to his/her Han, the Amadeus Cho to his/her Hercules (if you don't get that last one, read more comics). I loved every interaction Shep and Garrus had in ME 3.

I also loved the memorial wall. Great way to keep the first two games alive in players' minds (especially if they hadn't been playing them obsessively for weeks before ME 3's release like I had). The Normandy as a whole may kind of suck (who knew "military standards" included the replacement of virtually every bit of aesthetically pleasing design with mounds and mounds of clutter and boxes and s***?), but that memorial wall was a great idea.

ME1 does matter. I don't know what results ME2 gives you for the side missions if you haven't played it, but [BLACKOUT]if you didn't save Rita in ME1, Conrad Verner dies in ME3. I don't know specifics, but Wrex's survival is determined in ME1, as is Captain Kirahe's. I'm sure there are other decisions, but I don't have a list on how to attain the war assests in front of me. You might want to check out the Mass Effect wiki and see if you're okay with risking/ignoring those assests affected by ME1. [/BLACKOUT]

So what's everyone's favorite new armor pieces? Me, I love the Security Helmet, really badass looking. I hope we get more head enveloping helments though. The death mask and recon hood are cool, but old. I'd like to have one the Cerberus troopers have.

I like the Securitel Helmet, yeah. It looks neato.

I've been using the N7 Defender armor (Gamestop pre-order DLC) for my Soldier.

And for whoever asked, having ME1 does matter. My buddy used the Genesis comic because he was too lazy to replay ME1, and there are some fair differences between his game and mine (which has ME1).

Here's another thing that lends itself to that theory:
Right before the end, I think before the Cerbrus assault, James mentions a buzzing sound and if anyone else hears it. Now go look up Indoctrination in your codex...

...grasping at straws, but it helps. :csad:

Thing is...the relays are destroyed in all three of the "choice" endings, doesn't matter what you pick. Did you really find that to be a satisfying conclusion to an otherwise amazing series?

I could write pages why it was a waste, but answer me this: How the hell was Joker flying the Normandy through a relay when minutes before EDI used the Normandy's targeting systems to help Shepard on the ground. EDI herself was in London, too. And your squad mates, the ones running straight towards Harbinger with you? Yeah, they're on the Normandy at the end, too. Really??

Please don't call me a hater or that I'm exaggerating things. The last ten minutes does not feel like it was even thought out regardless of our clashing opinions. I've played this series since the beginning. I complain because I care.

Oh god, I'm being turned into a husk of a disgruntled Bioware fan. If only Spock were here to hold me...

I loved the cloth Hahne-Kedar gauntlets/sleeves. I actually worked my armor choices around those. I ended up using the Mnemonic Visor, the Serrice Council chestplate and shoulders, the Hahne-Kedar arms, and the Rosenkov Materials greaves.

Endings:

Ultimately I am fine with the whole Catalyst/Shepard dying thing and the Relays buying it, I just find the way that they completely failed to close the books on characters that we had spent 90 hrs with if not more to be what caused me to get into a bit of fit.

This is mainly what I want to know. Are they BIG differences? Earth shattering? etc...According to the wiki the comic allows you to choose 6 points from ME1 that are important before you pick things up in ME2. And I'm cool with that, I just want to know more about the differences.

Also appreciate the responses.
