“And, to be honest, you [the fans] are crafting your Mass Effect story as much as we are anyway.”

“Every decision you've made will impact how things go. The player's also the architect of what happens."

----Mike Gamble, associate producer of the Mass Effect series

Maybe this is why people feel so "entitled," to "demand," better endings.

hmmm........you think?? :word: :oldrazz:

I want to tattoo those quotes on that IGN d-bag's face.

And in those quotes lies people's problem with the ending. We were sold something that we did not get. This isn't a matter of entitlement. It is a matter of false advertisement. If Bioware never said all this nonsense about no two endings being the same, the outcry would be greatly reduced.

I personally do not mind the ending. [blackout]Merging with the Reapers and making them retreat[/blackout] was the perfect ending for the Shepard that I created. I tend to see the [blackout]Normandy scene as Shepard's dying wish....he realizes his teammates most likely died on the battle field but he is fantasizing that they had not and instead escaped to an Eden-like paradise[/blackout]. It all works for my Shepard. But none of the choices work for a lot of people's Shepard. And I can damn well see why they would be pissed off that they were sold a product that doesn't exist.

^ none of the choices would have worked for my Shep. :(

If someone had told her that's how it was going to end, she wouldn't have even signed up for the mission back in ME 1..........lol

I guess part of the reason I'm not outraged at all is cause I never really followed things the developers said, I just played the games and enjoyed them for what they are, great games

I avoided pretty much every coverage of this game.

The most coverage I was ever exposed to was the Mass Effect panel at NY Comic Con last year.

And even there, pretty much zilch was said about ME3.

I know we've discussed Alpha Protocol in the Mass Effect threads before, but I just came across it while moving some things and I realized something. Hudson's promises were not unobtainable. Alpha Protocol is proof of that. While there is a basic template for how the ending plays out, you can basically choose through your actions who lives, who dies, which L.I.s survive, what their agenda is, and the ultimate fate of the character which can be the heroic spy who gets the girl and rides off into the sunset or a traitor whose had enough and becomes the right hand of the main terrorist (or even kills him and takes his place as head of a worldwide terror network) and just about anything in between.

Alpha Protocol got ****ty reviews due to its glitchy game play but in the end....it basically delivered on everything Hudson promised from a story and character perspective....and it did so three years ago on a much more rushed schedule (Sega forced Obsidian to release it early, explaining all the glitches).

Same here. I never played the first game, but played ME2 last September and knew that I would enjoy the third one if it was anything like that. I didn't follow anything either because I wasn't really hyped for the game until a couple of weeks ago, and even then, I couldn't spoil myself because I didn't even remember what happened in ME2 or who the alien races were, so it was hard to follow any spoilers.

But I will say, I went back to play ME2 after finished ME3, and its hard to do because I'm so used to ME3 and the improvements they made with the gameplay. As much crap as the ending has been getting, I don't think it should be ignored that its still one pretty damn awesome game.

Ha, yea I'm.playing mass effect 2 right now to set up my renegade Shepard, and on insanity too, it's still enjoyable but you're right, the quality of gameplay in 3 makes 2 seem not as good as when I first played it

That game had a great deal of consequences for your actions. It was amazing.

I always thought Bioware would take some of the idea from AP.

Yep. You really felt every choice you made. I'll be the first to admit that Obsidian got a lot wrong with Alpha Protocol. But it also got a hell of a lot right and the level of player control and impact on the story has yet to be matched by any other game.

I remember playing the first inFamous and being a bit disappointed by how the game basically played the same despite which choices you made. But the second was interesting because they changed certain missions, including the final one based on whether you wanted to be a hero and villain. Yet as cool as that was, the endings were so different that it doesn't seem likely that they'll be a third one.

ah happy friday everyone. i should be finishing the game this weekend. i have to play more multiplayer though for war assets. gamertag is : snicklephrits if anyone wants to play. i kind of suck at it right now atleast compared to the level 17 vanguards i played with last night.

N7 Challenge Weekend – Operation: Goliath

Welcome to the very first N7 Challenge Weekend, where we give our amazing community a special multiplayer mission for some great in-game perks. Starting tonight (Friday, March 16), you can join your friends online tonight between 5pm PST and 5am PST on Monday, March 18, and take the fight to the reapers like never before.

Operation Goliath
Citadel Allied Command is mounting a galaxy-wide operation to cripple the Reapers’ shock troops: the turian-krogan hybrids known as “brutes.” To flush out Reaper ground forces, N7 teams are deploying to engage the enemy in key theaters. Heavy reinforcements are expected anywhere fighting begins.

Community Goal: Inflict heavy casualties on Reaper “brutes” on March 16th, 17th, and 18th.

Community Unlock: If this goal is met, all N7 squads will be awarded a Victory Pack that can be unlocked the following week.

Squad Goal: Successful extraction from a Reaper-held zone at a Silver threat level or higher.

Squad Unlock: Your squad will be granted a Commendation Pack.

Your allies are counting on you. Now is not the time to let them down.

Any player who is part of a squad that beats the Reaper faction on Silver difficulty or better will unlock one Commendation Pack. This means that at least one member of the squad must be extracted at the end of the mission – this will earn all squad members the reward. Each player can earn a maximum of one pack, and each pack contains a random N7 Arsenal Weapon. Originally only available as single-player weapons via the N7 Collector’s Edition, these multiplayer variants will be exceptionally rare and are NOT obtainable through regular purchasable Reinforcement Packs. The Commendation Packs will contain one of the following guns at random: N7 Crusader Shotgun, N7 Eagle Pistol, N7 Hurricane SMG, and N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle.

Destroy as many brutes as possible – if the multiplayer community kills a combined 1 MILLION brutes within the hours of the challenge, ALL players will receive a Victory Pack as a reward.

All rewards will unlock on Tuesday, March 20 at 5pm PST. You’ll have seven days to redeem your packs in the multiplayer store menu, at which point, the packs will expire and cannot be restored.

This challenge is only available on Xbox 360 and PC. Unfortunately, due to technical limitations, we are unable to extend this program to the PlayStation 3 platform.

One MILLION brutes??? Uhh...am I crazy or does that seem high?

That's why it's a challenge! No I don't know the numbers but figure 2-3 brutes per match? 333,000 total matches, 110,000 matches per day ballpark, among the entire 360 and PC community? I think it's doable

assuming word gets out and people concentrate on fighting Reapers. I guess they'll have an announcement on the in game menu
