Well, let's hope they actually like it. :funny:
Right.

I would hope that he's been sending them bits and pieces of the script as he's been writing it, so it's not like this is the first time they're seeing it.

So for how long was Matt Reeves working on the script? A year?

I was there a few months ago. Pretty ****ing great. If I ran into Reeves there I'd pin him against the giant blow up naked Marilyn Monroe photo and ask when the hell he's going to finish a first draft.

Don't scare him off! :funny:

Wasn't there a rumor/report awhile back that said he turned in the first act?

If a script is ready, that's great but with no actor in place, that's going to be a slow start.

Today would be a good day to announce any kind of news regarding the movie.

I think at this point, chances are they're gonna like it. They know what they get with hiring Reeves so it would cost more for them to say no. I think this is their best chance so they better not be arrogant and say, "You know what? This isn't working out." I dont think they're gonna be in shock or anything about it being something they don't want.

Is it really a good thing if WB likes the script? Based on DC fans right now, we shouldn't like anything WB approves of. Just saying.

I think given how WB doesn't know how to make these movies, they're more listening to Reeves and not standing in his way, whether they like it or not.

Loved Cloverfield.
Loved Let Me In.
Loved Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Loved War for the Planet of the Apes.

This guy gets the benefit of the doubt from me every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Didn't love Cloverfield. I think the Apes movies are decent at least.

I liked Dawn a bit more than War. Dawn is one of the best sci-fi films of the last decade, as far as I'm concerned. Love that movie to death.

In any case, Reeves has said all the right things thus far. A noirish detective movie that focuses on Batman solving a case. A movie that actually strives to paint him as the World's Greatest Detective. Give me it.

Well, that's an odd career. He co-wrote/created some soap opera with JJ Abrams.
Anywho, script-wise, War for the..Apes is the only one I saw. Step down from Dawn, but man am I sucker for movies that have long stretches of minimalist action/dialogue.

If it's something akin to Game of Shadows with Batman and in modern times, I can accept that. But they need to cast Batman right this time.

That's what's going to be interesting about this. Reeves' filmography is fairly limited, and he hasn't really directed a movie with a true A-lister in the lead role. I suppose the argument could be made for Serkis, insofar as he is THE go-to guy for mo-cap roles.

Are we getting a big name or are we getting an unknown? I could honestly see it going either way.

Fairly limited? He's done about as much stuff as Nolan had before Begins (and assumedly with a much larger proven box office), and is way more high profile than, say, The Russos were pre-TWS.

That is probably the best path to success right now.

My point is that WB has proven time and time again to have poor judgment with the DC Universe on film. And going by the reaction to the Henry Cavill news, they still do.

Imagine the uproar if he had Serkis in mo cap for Bruce/Batman. A better version of what they did for Beowolf back in the day - i remember that being hyped as the next best thing.
