But Grace said that the villain for BoP was David Cain and Lady Shiva... so she wasn't really accurate with BoP.

If Cassandra Cain is involved, doesn’t it stand to reason that David Cain would be involved? I’m guessing she was trained by Shiva and David Cain.

You can hate her all you want (I think she’s awesome) but you can’t deny that her recent intel regarding WB/DC has been on the money. She was talking about the Cavill situation long before that story broke. And I’m gonna wager that her BOP info is on the money as well.

Just don’t be surprised if the Court of Owls and Penguin are our villains

Batman - Ryan Gosling
Alfred Pennyworth - Liam Cunningham
Commissioner Gordon - Ethan Hawke
Lincoln March - Jack Huston
The Penguin - Jonah Hill

I like Grace!

Did a old rumor resurface or something? What's this talk of the Court of Owls?

I think it’s just spun out of Josh Gad and the guy from I, Tonya campaigning for the penguin role and Grace Randolph has a rumor awhile back saying Court and Penguin were the villains.

I can see the older Bat fans having a problem with the Court of Owls being the main villains, but if you actually read that storyline, it’s hard to have much of a problem with it. That’s one of the best Batman stories in years, and I genuinely think it’ll go down as one of the great Batman stories. It’s written and illustrated in a way where it’s very easy to imagine the cinematic potential. There’s a reason the Court has caught on so much in such a short amount of time.

Reeves did say he wasn't adapting a specific storyline, so even if he uses the Court I wouldn't expect it to play out the same way as Snyder's arc.

Definitely not, but if you’re taking inspiration from that storyline, the most obvious and cinematic aspect you could take from it would be the labyrinth. Rarely do we see Batman tested like that. And I would assume Lincoln March would play a role. He actually makes perfect sense, seeing as he was a mayoral candidate just like Penguin. Penguin is the perfect addition to a Court of Owls inspired storyline if you think about it. There are so many avenues where he could easily fit in.

The Court of Owls, like most Snyder stories starts off strong and end disappointingly. I love the idea of an ancient society connected to Gotham, but keep that and Talon and start there. Make a new story and improve on it. None of that Lincoln March nonsense.

Yeah. Conceptually, the Court of Owls is very promising. I didn't much care for Snyder's overall arc, however.

Snyder's run was overrated. I don't get the praise it gets. His only solid Batman stories were Gates of Gotham, Black Mirror and the only good one from his run Endgame. Year Zero was excruciating. Capullo's artwork was wonderful though.

Call me crazy but I'd like a Batman story that isn't a big event with the city at stake.

I think the idea of a secret society of the ultra rich running Gotham behind the scenes is a cool idea. Could make it equal parts Bruce Wayne and Batman too if you make it about the Court trying to induct him into their society or whatever.

A conspiracy is great and fits into the mystery angle, I just don't need it to be about the entire city in danger. There's something more disturbing of a secret society that's been here for years. Their reach and influence is the threat. Not a doomsday machine or **** like that.

Batman’s entire purpose is to protect Gotham. I’ve got no issues with a threat against the entire city

I have to agree with Doctor Jones here. The Court of Owls is a threat to Gotham, make no mistake. But they're a threat in the sense that they control the board and will do whatever it takes to maintain that control, whether it be blackmail or murder. The threat isn't a doomsday device that threatens Gotham in a literal sense. This threat is more of an internal rot slowly eating away at the heart of the city.

Which is exactly what we want here. ^

No more city-wide nuke-or-equivalent threats please. Just some big mafia ploy or shady infiltrate-y thing would be great. I'd love to see what Reeves could do with the Court Of Owls, yeah. Them as the primaries, maybe some Penguin gangster stuff on the side.

And of course that doesn't mean you can't have physical threats present, they're both the types of villains with assassins & a freak or two at their disposal.

I'm not asking for a remake of Scott Snyder's story. Just keep the essence. The society, talons. It can be a strong alternative to the League of Shadows, only, like noted above, without being a doomsday clock for Gotham.

I also think it'd be cool to see Azrael and the Order of St. Dumas as antagonists.

Regardless of your political affiliations, would anyone be opposed to Trump parallels with Penguin? I think it’ll be hard for them to resist. Maybe the Iceberg Lounge is also a casino and hotel? Perhaps Cobblepot colluded with the Court to become Mayor?

I’m hoping the rumors are true, I really like the idea of those two being the villains. It’s the perfect mix, an established villain we haven’t seen in a while, and an entirely new one.

My preference would’ve been Clayface and Hugo Strange as villains. It’s crazy, they’ve both been around since 1940, yet we’ve never seen them on film before.
