Agreed. I would love to see the court adapted, becuase, like Hush, it was a story with an amazing premise that ended up having a fairly lackluster ending in my opinion.

Gonna have to agree with what others have said, I don’t want to see another “the entirety of Gotham is at stake” story. A small-scale noir investigation is more than enough to keep me satisfied. I was personally hoping for Man-Bat, and Hugo Strange because I think there’s a lot you can do psychologically there.

Regardless of your political affiliations, would anyone be opposed to Trump parallels with Penguin? I think it’ll be hard for them to resist. Maybe the Iceberg Lounge is also a casino and hotel? Perhaps Cobblepot colluded with the Court to become Mayor?

I’m hoping the rumors are true, I really like the idea of those two being the villains. It’s the perfect mix, an established villain we haven’t seen in a while, and an entirely new one.

I think had trump lost his bid and went back too business, literally.. then totally would work, but i think these days, it's all too easy to use Trump as either a parallel or fodder etc, simply because he's so topical. It would be a distraction if that makes sense. also some would take it wrong way and not like it, create negative reviews etc.

I don't want much of a political tint to this at all, it'd just come off really on-the-nose. We get enough of it already.

Especially considering Batman, like early-MCU-movies Iron Man, is a pretty right-leaning character anyway, all that individualism & self-reliance, "the authorities are incompetent I'd better do this myself" type of thing, it's not going to go over well.

Penguin can just be straight-up ruthless gangster guy. He's pretty different from Trump anyway, didn't he sort of come from nothing, self-made? He's more like a more flamboyant Lucky Luciano type of guy if anything.

If Reeves doesnt use Affleck's Batman theres no reason think he'd have to use Letoker. Besides the beautiful thing about Elseworld films is they dont have to be perfect continuity. So even if Reeves Batman film and Phoenix's Joker film have some continuity inconsistencies between them Reeves could still use Phoenix's Joker in his Batman film.

WB is desperate right now! if The Joker movie is a home run, I will not be surprised if they give Phoenix a blank check and try get him in another movie.

Reeves took over Apes franchise in the second film and used Koba from the first film as the main villain in the 2nd film, so it's doable if Joaquin is keen to work with him....

I've been saying the same thing. The "unreliable narrator" aspect leaves the door wide open. A crossover is definitely possible, depending on if Joaquin would be interested.

Let's not forget, WB didn't even want to do the shared universe in the first place. They had to be dragged kicking and screaming into it because of Avengers. They had no desire to do it with their DC film products. Then they did it, they rushed it, and it turned into garbage.

Justice League basically was worst case scenario. So they are moving on. It seems they are going to try more for that whole "filmmaker driven" claptrap they were claiming they were going to do beforehand.

WB could have easily built a proper DCEU universe from 2013-2018/2020. MOS into MOS2, WW, The Batman, Aquaman, The Flash all leading up to a JL. But, they chose to screw over Superman, shove a “bot thought out” Batman into it, and then squash/mishandle many different directors over the course of a few years on The Flash... all the while making a messy, not finished, and weak “team” film.
