LOL, touche. I guess it's just that whenever I hear something along the lines of "the suits at Warner Brothers LOVED the script/theatrical cut/etc.", it's hard to get too excited. I mean, wasn't there a report that the WB execs gave BvS a standing ovation when it was screened for them? It just all feels like PR spin. Especially when reports come out a few months after the movie was released that the original cut of the film was a mess or was absurdly long and WB stepped in to make a bunch of changes.

Hopefully that's not the case here but I don't trust WB any farther than I could throw Ninja Turtle Doomsday into space.

Just take it as a sign of confidence that they’ll make the movie.

So much can happen from scripting stage to actually seeing it in theaters that the final product may not even be recognizable.

Yeah, and that can be good or bad. I do like Reeves a lot, so I'm really hopeful this thing gets made and that WB allows him to make the movie the way he envisions it. But I ALSO hope that the movie he envisions is something that's fairly well aligned with the Batman of the comics and not some pretentious Zach Snyder bull****. But what he did with the Planet of the Apes films really worked so hopefully he can bring that blend of new ideas and familiar concepts here.

Any particular comics you hope it's aligned with?

Reeves turned in the bloody script, who cares about what WB thinks? They just need to support him through the whole process!

True. I don't think they could tell the difference between a good and bad script. I'll go ahead and trust Reeves on this.

Hmm, well, I'd definitely want them to avoid most of the territory we've visited before, so no Knightfall or Dark Knight Returns stuff. I know that Year One, The Long Halloween and maybe Dark Victory were influences on Nolan's films, but you still might be able to take some stuff from there; there's plenty of material there that Nolan didn't really touch on. I'd love to see the Calendar Man used in the capacity he was used in the latter two books in a sort of supervillain Hannibal Lector capacity. The Man Who Laughs and The Laughing Fish would be great stories to pull material from if the Joker is involved, though I doubt he is, since the Joaquin Phoenix movie is coming out. Year Three, or any of the more recent retellings of the Robin origin might be cool. We haven't seen Dick Grayson's origin in a film since Batman Forever (I don't count Robin John Blake, though I didn't hate that concept like everyone else did), and it wouldn't be hard to do a better job than that. Arkham Asylum would also be good (the comic, not the game). Really, taking influence from any stories that delve into how twisted of a place Arkham really can be would be cool.

I doubt it's the way he's going to go, but I'd love to see the Robin story.
Arkham Asylum is a great premise for a film and lets you showcase a lot of villains, but it works better with a long established Batman rather than the younger one Reeves is going with.

True. I would love to see Arkham Asylum focused on in a film, and also to have the possibility of seeing a wide variety of Bat-villains in one film, even if most of them are background.

Is this crap true? They're saying there is reports that WB is done making Batman and Superman movies. I can't find the report anywhere.

No it isn't true. Likely made up bs cause the Superman film is DOA for now.

If it doesn't come from a reputable source don't trust it.

Not exactly. Variety had an article about Flash's production start date being delayed and a source said that WB weren't moving forward with Superman/Batman movies starring Henry and Ben in the immediate future.

ComicBookCast is trash.

In summation:

WB does not plan to move forward with Superman and Batman movies starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck respectively.

well, let's shut down the thread. DC has fumbled time and time again. Just cheer on Marvel as they succeed.

Why would we shut this thread down?

They're discontinuing Batman movies with Affleck, not Batman movies in general.

With WW84 moving to summer 2020, we definitely wont be getting out Batman movie until fall 2020 at the earliest... sigh.

Makes me think this is a 2021 release now.
