Anne was fine, she's actually the best thing in the whole movie. I will say if they do go with Catwoman again I really want an Arkham City style costume. As much as I was grateful for Nolan giving us Catwoman, and as much as I'm aware it was harkening back to Julie Newmar in terms of aesthetics, I never really loved the costume.
 
And yeah, Gotham needs to have its own distinct look. Not just any random city. Not even Detroit.

It’s gotta be a toss up between Art Deco and gothic imagery, thrown into a blender of hellfire and chaos.

Idc if you have to build an entire city like burton and Nolan did to an extent.

Why does it need to label. It's going to be a new Batman-solo film.

Does it really matter if it's a reboot or a continuation or not? Just let Matt Reeves make his film. The DCEU is pretty much a disaster at this point. Might as well just have as much fun as we can.
 
Glad this is finally over. DC just doesn't have the right kind of executives to shepherd a long form cinematic universe. Their emphasis on stand alones is a welcome change. Its a shame there was a lot of wasted potential with Affleck as Batman, but it's good to finally be able to move on. Now just confirm Cavill is gone too, and we can have some full closure.

The DCEU failed. Time to move on.
 
Disappointed it's coming out in summer 2021, rather than spring 2021 or late 2020...
 
My only real request is no more Thomas/Martha murders. No more slow motion pearls!

I think there were some positive takeaways from his Batman, and I was averse to the idea at first. At the same time, I maintain that going for the older 20-year veteran version of Batman and a more extreme version of Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns Batman was the WRONG choice.

I think you can play around with that in like a standalone Dark Knight Returns or a standalone one-off film, but not in the first film in a shared extended cinematic universe. That was the wrong choice.

It was never envisioned as a shared universe though. Not in the long form storytelling sense. It was a 5 part epic from Snyder with ancillary projects that complimented and elaborated on his vision. It was always gonna be a finite thing. It originally ended with Batman sacrificing himself to Darkseid and Kal and Lois getting a new beginning through their son. A shame most weren't prepared for it since they just wanted DC to simply ape Marvel. Its all good though BvS: UE is my 3rd favorite Bat flick. I got that much out of it. Now onward and upward. Here's to finally getting a Batfamily on the screen and a more detective oriented man of bat. I've only been clamoring for that the 14 or so years I've been a member here. Actually even longer but hey better late than never. The circus is finally over.

Yeah, whatever. It wasn't a good choice for a finite five-part epic either.
 
Welp, we all saw this coming. The writing has been on the wall since 2017. Excited to see what Reeves brings us. Hopefully the entire Batfamily

You are entitled to your opinion sir, but since audiences so soundly rejected it, we ended up with this frankenstein-ish quagmire disaster that we did.

That type of idea thing doesn't work when you are trying to set up a Justice League and future movies, which they clearly wanted to do. Not to mention those reports of WB wanting to sign Ben Affleck up for multiple more films when they started seeing dailies of Batman v Superman.

I realize that doing these movies are hard and you can never please everyone. Not to mention, Reeves work is going to be highly scrutinized. However, I don't really want a whole Batman Family movie. I'm fine if they exist and we see a bit of them, but I'd like the focus to be mainly on Batman here. Just my opinion. And I'm open to my mind being changed later on.

I genuinely think the trauma of the Wayne murders and his childhood memory of them, is so fruitful and unexplored still. There's much more layers to it than "my parents are deeaaaaadd!!!"
 
If they need to reference an old trauma, I wouldn't mind more fleshed-out Jason Todd references. Seems like a harder thing to get over from than parents who died 20-plus years ago. Same with Spider-Man. At a certain point, the memory of Gwen Stacy's death starts to feel like a fresher motivator than Uncle Ben's.

Well, Reeves wants a Noir-Detective film (which is very cool, as most film interpretations seem to forget the "World's Greatest Detective" part of Batman's title) so it will probably be focused on him. But I want Dick and Barbara in the movie. I would like to see the Batfamily developed through a trilogy of films. That's an aspect of the mythos that hasn't been tackled since Batman and Robin
 
I've always wanted a Batman film set in the 30's, so hearing the Detective Noir influence is good news to my ears. It may not end up being set in the 30's but even if it gives off that classic vibe that's a decent compromise.

Stylized anachronism has always been a favorite. BTAS, B89, and Gotham (TV) have all utilized it well.
