Spring, Summer, Fall/Winter. I think three a year is perfect. And I am thinking the new date is most definitely Avengers 3. The investors won't want to wait four years for their biggest moneymaker. It is the exact reason why Star Wars VII is coming out in 2015 and not 2016.

The added date for May 2018 does really lend to the idea that Avengers 3 will be there, not in 2019. If that's true, it makes me wonder which franchise will get that prime date, since it's typically reserved for a movie they hope to kick off the summer and make bank before everyone else.

GotG 3. :awesome:

For Black Panther I think there will be calls for a Director of Color to direct.
I really don't think they have to have a director of color. As long they get a director that know the characters and a great sense of direction to make it one of the most epic movies ever.

Something tells me that Sony at some sort of a contract have played the game with Disney, they (Disney / Marvel) made the move after TASM 3 date changed.

The Spiderman Franchise is slowly dying at the hands of Sony, they don't even have the merchandising rights (all belongs to the mouse). Disney / Marvel is smart for playing the waiting game while spiderman is tearing itself apart at the hands of sony.

Either he'll revert back or they'll sell him off in 4-5 years time.

Huh? What? Why?

I'd like to think the director will be chosen based on his/her body of work, how well his/her vision and story outline is sold to Marvel Studios and/or how passionate said director is for the character. Marvel should want to make the best possible Black Panther movie. Any other considerations should be irrelevant, and are honestly, counterproductive.

I want Marvel to make a Black Panther movie not because he's an awesome black character but because he's an awesome character. Similarly, I want the best possible director for Black Panther. Not the best possible black director. If they turn out to be one and the same, great. If not, I couldn't care less.

I think it is great that they're going to 3 films a year. I think I said ages ago they should start doing that by 2017 :oldrazz:

That being said, I think if Avengers isn't the May 2019 film, then it is likely the date they just added, and Iron Man 4 might be the May 2019 film. I'd be shocked if the May 2019 film was not Avengers 3 or Iron Man 4.

Phase 1 was partly just 1 film per year (on average, since there was no film in 2009). Phase 2 has been 2 films per year. Partway through Phase 3, they will move to doing 3 films per year. See the pattern?

You guys! Phase 365 is going to awesome! :awesome:

its great to see how fast the universe is growing. 3 movies a year would be an awesome moment for MS fans

I'm wondering how exactly Marvel can announce all their movies for the next few years. If some of them are sequels (eg to GOTG and Ant-Man), then don't they need to wait until they see how these perform at the box office before assigning them dates? Or if they aren't doing that at all, then are they not having sequels to these properties for the next few years?

Can Marvel really announce much more than just Cap 3, Thor 3, Avengers 3, possibly Iron Man 4 and Dr Strange? Aren't at least 2 of those placeholders provisional for GOTG and Ant-Man? That doesn't leave too much more for other new properties that aren't sequels or Dr Strange.

There's no way they're announcing all those dates. Or even Avengers 3 -- there's too much hype for Avengers 2 for them to start getting us focused that far ahead.

IMHO, any titles they announce beyond Cap 3, Dr. Strange, and Thor 3 will be unexpected icing on the cake.

It comes from mainly the black bloggers, who have stated how sick and tired they are of white people telling black stories. I think it's an asinine thinking.

If they have GOTG 2 slotted for a certain date in 2018 and Guardians of the Galaxy is a surprise bomb, they can always abandon plans to make the sequel and push something else to that date. Or just abandon the date altogether, studios aren't bound to these schedules.

Yes, but remember how they announced the entire phase 2 plus Ant-Man in 2012

have to wait to the next comic con for the full phase 3 lineup :(

Marvel's Phase 1 & 2 - A Look Back at Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 1 & 2 montage

I just don't know how they're gonna introduce 2 more stones and have them all retrieved by Thanos by Avengers 3. Dr. Strange is a safe bet to have a stone involved, not sure what other Phase 3 movies will.

They seem to have a plan so it should get interesting.

Love that montage!

GOTG will be a good boost to the MCU.

Marvel has filed a trademark to protect the rights to Squirrel Girl.

Obviously that means that the rumors are starting to go around:

If you ask me: Yes please :D

Isn't she a mutant? Oh well, we know from the use of SW and QS that there are exceptions, so that might not exclude her. I wouldn't mind if she was introduced in a supporting role somewhere. Maybe she can be friends with Jessica Jones in her Netflix series.

Edit: It all makes sense now...
I give you Squirrel Girl:
