MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 3

Going from July 2015 until May 2016 is a long time without a new movie. At least they're a little more evenly spread out after that.

Looks good Shakel... if I had 1 teeniest tiniest itty bitty little nit-pick :oldrazz: it would be:
Captain America: The First Avenger (last few minutes)
While this is correct, you could throw in text indicating the first few minutes of TFA as well since it's both bookends that are the most recent events prior to Avengers :cwink:

Like I said, a teeny-tiny little nitpick on a well done chronological list :woot:

Quite possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Could only be improved upon when AoU, ANT-MAN, and the Netflix shows get proper closer to release date posters. Also, if and when GUARDIANS 2 chooses a proper subtitle and we find out if INHUMANS is now Phase 4 or not. Looks glorious though.

It will keep improving every year as we get film posters for all the future films. ;)

Maybe I need to give the MCU another shot one of these days.

It's not even that I dislike them really. I like the movies, it's just that I've never had the desire to watch any of them again after my first viewing like some other series. (apart from IM and CA:TFA).

You might be the most objective open-minded young person on the planet D-Tone.

Great work Shakel! Very thorough.

Have you seen the Winter Soldier? I'd say it's easily one of the best superhero movies of all time, and has incredible re-watch value.

outstanding work

i was thinking what could be quite interesting in the future mcu movies is the way different heroes could appear as cameos. since marvel now has quite a nice rooster of heroes, imagine a scene where for instance spiderman is fighting a foe and suddenly daredevil appears and comes to his aid. this can be done for different characters living in same city. imo it wouldnt be forced cameos since these heroes exist in same cities and fight crime and supervillains so its kinda logical that more heroes would respond to certain threats.

It's a nice idea but I doubt it will happen. There's too many contracts and salaries to work through to waste on a cameo. We were lucky Evans agreed to do a cameo in TDW without it counting as part of his deal. But I don't see that as the norm.

I'd love a Marvel Team Up with Spider-Man and some guests. There could be 4 1/2 hour shorts tied together with Spidey as the common thread fighting various villains.

Wishful thinking, I know.

But that's the exact reason it is going to happen my friend! The initial contracts with the big 4 don't give much leeway because they weren't sure if the whole shared universe thing was even going to work. But now they know exactly what they are doing and that they are basically printing their own money therefore when new contracts are drawn up for existing characters or when people sign up for the MCU these contracts will be specifically written to ensure that these characters will crossover as much as possible. That's why they have pushed the whole "It's all connected" thing. So you best believe as time goes on and it gets bigger more people will be popping up throughout the MCU

Maybe i am pessimistic for a while, but can marvel still maintain their status today in years to come? Let's disscuss

As long as they continue to produce quality movies and shows as well as mash up genres in their films there is no reason for them to slow down in the foreseeable future. They have already stated they will recast their characters when the time comes and they have decades worth of stories to draw inspiration from. With the current creative teams and eye for new talent they have I don't see how they start making flops anytime soon. The only thing that could stop them is if they just decide to phone it in and stop trying.

They can and likely will until their main actors in RDJ, Evans, Hemsworth, Jackson, Pratt, etc. start leaving. Marvel will probably have issues then, but it remains to see how severe the decline will be and how quickly they can get by the initial hiccups.

If they keep adding actors like Cumberhatch and Boseman to their new franchises, I think they can rest peacefully in the current stars legacy being carried on.

I think the problem comes in when people start saying "where's Iron Man? Where's Cap?" and you get a situation where a recast is needed. In that scenario, comparisons are drawn, and the fanbase starts shrinking. It's inevitable, but not a problem coming soon
