MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 5

Hi,
Not sure if this is right part of forum to post a message but here goes.

What's with Spider Man being mentored by Iron Man? Was it Robert Downey's idea?

I ask because a producer stated that Downey had suggested that Iron Man should be the

main focus in the first Avengers movie. I'll bet he did !! No surprise there.

He should be turning up to read his lines and enact the scenes and leave the ideas to

those above him.

I suspect that he wishes to stand out from the rest of the cast.

There has been speculation on how Avengers Endgame will turn out.

Iron Man is the one that delivers the final nail in the coffin is what I think but let me

add that I will be delighted to be wrong.

If he is giving input by way of ideas that make him shine above all others, that must stop.

A thing that annoys me with Iron Man is the constant raising of his visor.

Yes, Mr Downey. We know it's you playing Iron Man. You don't need to keep showing us

your face.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge Iron Man fan from when he first appeared in the comics,

but I think it's selfish if an actor in such a film is always wanting to be the main one in the

spotlight.

Here's to someone else delivering the end of Thanos.

Nuff Said.

Captain Marvel was really good. Some honest to goodness surprises which was nice. Brie is really good and I can't wait to see how she grows into the role. Goose steals the show! And there was a tribute to Lee that nearly made me lose it.

Something that surprised me...

Anyone hoping for Rogue to make an appearance in Captain Marvel 2 (me) is going to be disappointed. They definitely set up Ronan coming after Carol so I suspect the next film will still be set in the past. Maybe the third film.

Since the rebooted keep hope alive thread was locked for whatever reason. I figured we could try a more general MCU Discussion Thread. Since that's pretty much what the reboot keep hope alive thread was becoming towards the end anyway. Use this thread to discuss anything re the MCU, news, fan theories, speculation, rumours etc.

That's lame. It shouldn't have been locked. Ah well :/

I haven't been on much this weekend, so I will look more into this tomorrow.

I really hope Doc Ock is not left out of the MCU. Especially if they're building up to the S6

Big boots to fill - for me, if there's one non-MCU villain I could 'transplant' straight into the MCU, it would be Molina's Doc Ock. I re-watched SP2 only the other week not having watched it for years and was surprised how much Ock [and the film in general] still holds up - the train fight is still absolutely awesome.

I want someone who is more German and also wears the glasses rather than just having sunglasses. Would be cool if he's not just wearing a long coat for a costume either.

Merged both general MCU threads together

What happened with the Keep Hope Alive thread? :(

What happened with the Keep Hope Alive thread? :(

I am just going to copy/paste the first post from the new thread I made...so anyone who is confused can just read it here as well:

I got several PMs in regard to the closure of the Keep Hope Alive Thread. It's truly the end of an era, and I'll be honest that I was not on this weekend when it happened. But it appears that the reason is that the thread was made during Fan4stic and it accomplished its goal. It more or less became an unfocused lounge.

But we still do have the outstanding Spider-Man & Hulk rights issues. So due to popular demand in my PM box, I am making this thread specifically about those issues. Let's try to keep this one focused on just discussing those rights situations, though. We have the general MCU thread now to discuss casting of Fox reboots and such. Do that there. But if you want to talk about Spider-Man and Hulk rights issues, then this thread is for you!

Enjoy

The thread I created can be found here:

The Curious Case of Spider-Man & Hulk Rights (Or Keep Hope Alive That the Rights Will Revert)

Robert Downey Jr can do as he pleases. He's earned it.

Also, there is NOT a selfish bone in his body. He took the lowest payday in the first Iron Man movie. He got a raise because he earned it. None of the Avengers movies have revolved around him. He took the lowest screen time in all the Avengers movies, so the Iron Man is stealing screen time nonsense is just that, nonsense. And he basically told Joss Whedon Captain America should be the one in charge, not Iron Man.

Iron Man took a back seat in the Spider-Man movie, even after all the crying and complaining that was done before the movie came out , (I still remember the Iron Man is going to defeat Vulture posts), all he has was a glorified cameo.

Iron Man did not land the final blow to Loki in part 1, or Ultron in part 2, didn't even land the final blow to Killian in his own movie, so where the F- are you coming with this whining?

Granted, there is a report by Vulture for Avengers and AoU that differ from the above timing. But, Stark still finished 2nd in both movies even using those numbers. So...Iron Man never has the lowest. Literally, never.

Per Vulture:

The Avengers:

Hawkeye: 12:44.

Thor: 25:52.

Bruce Banner: 28:03

Black Widow: 33:35.

Iron Man: 37:01.

Captain America: 37:42.

AoU:

Hawkeye: 19:56.

Scarlet Witch: 20:59.

Bruce Banner/Hulk: 23:55.

Quicksilver: 26:43.

Black Widow: 33:07.

Iron Man: 45:34.

Captain America: 50:25.
