Honestly platinum blondes, except those from a bottle are a rare breed, and one that won't be here in only decades from now....sad but that get e is just not a dominant one.

Yes, a rare breed, which is not what Kara ever has been in the comics. Has she ever looked like Black Cat to you?

Um....what?

Read my post on the last page which I posted at the same time as you, but came just before you posted on this page about platinum blondes etc.

I for one like how light it is here

They had to complete photoshop and oversaturate her face to try and make that work, which doesnt work for a real life setting

I think we all know that. But even going for a honey blonde would be good. Even going the KC route where its brunette on the top and blonde on the bottom could work

thats pretty much how her hair already is. If anything her color has just been inconsistent throughout the run but overall I think its looked fine

Since when does Kara ever have platinum blonde in the comics?

...Of course if she goes for either a platinum shade or a peroxide blonde (like Marilyn Monroe had) it would look unnatural. But who is asking for that?

No doubt, the technicalities of comic book art have improved; but back when SG first appeared, blonde was simply “yellow ink” - with virtually no distinction between “honey” or “strawberry” or “platinum” or “etc.” So when it comes to a live-action, methinks there’s room for some interpretation. :cwink:

And as I was suggesting, a more vivid blonde would (perhaps) be allowable if the alter ego were brunette (in the Silver Age, Linda Danvers wore a dark wig). But if the hair is to remain the same for both personas, then a more middling/average color makes the disguise a tad more plausible.

I like how it is now, because it looks like a different shade when she wears it up in civilian life.

Let's not forget, folks...

Before she was cast as Supergirl, Melissa Benoist's hair was almost chestnut brown. This was from the premiere of Whiplash in late 2014:

Here's Melissa with her TV mother, and original Supergirl, Helen Slater, from about February 2015:

And from March 2015, filming the pilot:

Point is, there is NO way to go from one extreme in hair color to another in that short amount of time without damaging the hair significantly. I suspect she had her hair gradually lightened over the course of a couple months. (I'm not a hairdresser, I'm just trying to figure something out logically.)

It's not so extreme, and both Helen Slater and Sarah Michelle Gellar went from dark brown to blonde for their roles in Buffy and Supergirl respectively.

Supergirl's blonde is not platinum blonde as mentioned. Platinum blonde is a silver-blonde shade similar to what Kim Novak had in Vertigo, or what Black Cat officially has. And it's not peroxide blonde like Marilyn Monroe has. It's just a normal wheat-coloured blonde.

Sarah Michelle Gellar gradually lightened her hair over the course of the series. She didnt go from one extreme end to the other when she was cast as Buffy. Her hair was relatively dark in season 1 compared to later ones

Heck it was darker than MB as Kara. Buffy is a brunette and dyed her hair. It showed especially with the variation she later got in subsequent seasons

Hair is so boring to talk about...*snoring*

Well, sometimes it is. Posts about Cavill's receding hairline were pretty damn exhilarating and I wont have anyone tell me otherwise. Talk of Melissa's hair not being blonde enough is not quite as exciting as that, but then again, what is?

It seems to be either her hair or her feet. :word:

I'm actually impressed by her teeth. I wonder if she has extras? :woot::cwink:

She has had dental work I believe....lol

The hair is perfect. The woman is perfect. Blonde is blonde. (With varying shades...:cwink:)

Her wide eyed expression when she gets flustered as classic
