Metal Monstrosities - The Official Sentinels/Project Wideawake thread

OK...I saw the scene and all i can say is WOW!!!
With all the great things us X-fans are getting in this film I can't see how anyone would be upset with even a sneak-peek at a Sentinel. When I saw those glowing eyes I was out of my seat for the rest of the clip.
Obviously they are in the DR, so it's not gonna look quite as impressive as when we finally see the real Sentinels at the climax of this film or in the next one.

Thank you!

You're welcome. I came in here today and expected to see everyone posting ecstatically all weekend, but what do I get? A bunch of pissing and moaning.

People should have their own opinions, but still, my god. There are some people who act as if the scene's the most horrible thing they've ever seen. It's not great, but then again, it's not completely finished.

I think I'm one of the few who actually like the Sentinel head.

OMG...is this negative thread really necessary. Go complain in the numerous threads already available.

nt sure if the whole "action in the darkness" was due to buget reasons or the director trying to be artsy... but I would have at least like to seen what he did. But as for being hunted myself? I'd just go into the subway or in a building or maybe just run around and around its feet. I never saw how these things could be a menace. they do more harm to proeprty and humans than they ever would mutants.

and here is the answer to that..... this movie, (no matter how much you want it to be)..... is not about you. This story, that you say is so hard to believe has been told a few times and has been loved by the fans that read it.

what's to like? :p

If the overall design wasn't bad enough, it could atleast have looked rusty/scratched/shiny whatever metal and not plastic...

Not everything in the movie looks the same as in the comics...

For example, they went with leather uniforms in the movies... which probably was the best decision to make.

Count me with you. It's undeniable. When I saw that head hit the ground I knew it was a sentinel head, not a generic robot. It was designed to look like a sentinel.

the whole scene is just for the fans why not just enjoy it
*GambitXremy - I'm going to use your post to illustrate a point. It's not directed at you alone but everybody that has been subscribing to the "stop whining and complaining" mentallity that has always prevailed here but is palpably present right now *

I'm not saying the movie will suck because this clip was underwhelming for me BUT... I think this sort of mentality is wrong: "They made it for us so we should enjoy it"? What does that mean? That I have to like it no matter what? That we should be thankfull they're doing us a favor and just accept it, even if it doesn't meet expectations?
Would you as a consumer accept a sub-standard meal you are paying for at a restaurant simply because it's what you were served? Would you accept anything you are given even if it's not what you asked for or how you wanted it? Would you simply just take it and pay because you know, you should be thankfull they served you at all? I hope your answer is NO.
Now why should we deal with FOX any differently than with any other business that is providing us a service? We have a right as consumers to demand what we want how we want it. We're asking for quality, and they better listen.
Granted, not everybody wants the same thing, just like different people like their meat cooked differently. But the point is that everybody has a right to express their concerns and complain when their expectations are not met.
It's pointless to complain about people complaining because you don't agree with their opinion. The fact is they have a right to say what they feel and those of you that don't agree should at least aknowledge that it is their right and leave them be. Maybe if this community would respect the fact that not everybody has to agree with each other we would have a lot less of the senseless bickering we've been seeing.

That new Danger Room clip was not all that bad. It did pretty good for a chopped-up version and if you thought that was horrible, then I have no idea what to think. There are a bunch of worse scenes out there than this one. I was left speechless and in awe when I saw Peter transforming into Colossus and how they did the Fastball Special. It's the ****ing Fastball Special! How can you hate that? They did it right, IMO.

The Sentinel was just amazing. It's hiding in the shadows, lurking and shooting lasers. And Mirko has stated that the unofficial runtime is more than two hours. Which has heightened my Faith-O-Meter a bit that the Sentinel/s may just play a part in the final battle. Fighting the X-Men full-on. And possibly, the Brotherhood.

Yes, Colossus' looks may look a bit too liquid-like and Terminator-y, but from what I've heard on this board, people are saying that this footage is way older than the teaser trailer. The SFXs aren't finished yet. I'm sure the final cut will be amazing, all footages put together nicely with great music.

See the movie first before you judge it.

And we have the right to counter, and disagree with them.

The same way they have the right to disagree with us. It's all debate. ;)

I agree that everyone has a right to their opinion, but I don't think many people are treating this fairly. In a movie that is going to pack so many details we've been screaming for are we really going to complain if we only see the Sentinel's head? Will we be able to complain if the movie totally kicks ass but there are no sentinels in the final climax?

If you buy a box of Cracker Jacks and get a crappy prize, so what? You still have Cracker Jacks.

When the head flew from the sky and hit the ground, I was shocked that we were actually going to see the head! I loved that.

Ah so what you're looking for is debate. OK
Keep an eye on it though because debate might easily escalate to argument and then you'll have the mods to deal with.

Also if it's debate you're looking for then by all means share ideas and counter them, but try to keep the personal comments out. Things like "stop your whining" or similar comments that undermine another person's opinion should have no place in a debate.

That would be lumping all the naysayers together in the "we only saw a head" complaint. Which is unfair and not the case at all. I had issues with the clip that dont have anything to do with the fastball special for example, which is a common complaint we've seen in the several threads. The point is that for a lot of people the clip wasn't what they expected and they have as much a right to be bummed about that as you have to be psyched by what you saw.

I'll give you that, but there's really no reason NOT to have had the sentinel look as it does in the comics, the coulda just given it less garish colors.

As for the "fastball special", I didn't see one. It's supposed to be a javelin like launch, hence "fastball".

He shoulda stepped onto Peters hands and LAUNCHED. But unfortunately, gravity is against us, and I agree, it would have been near impossible to pull off without some kind of motion behind it.

eww

Of course, this won't affect how good the FILM is, but it's still a missed opportunity.

But hopefully, it will be a minor imperfection in an overall masterpeice...

Ugh. do it right or don't do it at all. That sentinel looks cheap. Considering its importance to the grand scheme of the movie, it's really not that big a deal.......ugh.

One scene is not gonna make or break this film.

but my gut tells me this is a danger room scene so that makes me feel a bit better too...

um... your gut and a ton of posts on the fact that we already know that... do your research before you begin a post like this....

Agreed, completely. See the first line I placed in BOLD in my earlier post.

That's right "read" it. Film is a different medium. And it is about what I want. After all I am the audience. Fans say they want the Sentinals. But will they look right? Do they fit in the story? That is what is key. I am a fan. And from what I've seen (albeit unfinished) does not thrill me.
I know how hard it is to pull it off. I also know how hard it is to work with producers who say "put this in because it will be cool or you're fired". I dealt with wasted time and energy on producers like that (cough...JP... cough). I just want to see a good movie.

given the amount of new characters and the fact that jean will be a villian in this movie as well as juggernaut, it does not make sense to add yet another "villian" to the story. it feels they are packing too much, while they could've used sentinals as another villian for future projects.
