Cool, glad to hear Henry finally got a role where he isnt completely wasted. If Nomis is good too, then maybe more doors will open for him, regardless of what happens with Superman. I still think hed make a stellar Bond.
Nope, which is unfortunate really. Would have been good for them to acknowledge hes alive, but they havent really done that to non-returning cast members from other films in the series so its only fair lol.

They did that with the old TV series. The character played by Stephen Hill disappeared without a trace after season 1 as did the characters played by Martin Landau and Barbara Bain after the 3rd season.

Hill asked for too much money.
That is how we ended up with Peter Graves.
If it wasnt for Graves.
I dont think the show would have made it past season two.
And we might not be talking about a sixth film.
I would say no it's not. All the movies are basically the Tom Cruise show. But the supporting characters at least get to do things and have some cool action moments.

The best moments are when Ethan is having trouble and making mistakes. It's fun to see when Hunt can't do everything right and struggles to figure things out:
IE when he gets into a helicopter cockpit and he has no idea how to fly it and has to improvise. Those moments are fun. You would almost expect Hunt to know how to fly a chopper.
Just came back.
It is every bit as good as everyone is saying. Is hard for me to top Ghost Protocol, but Fallout is certainly the one challenging it, for different reasons. III and Rogue Nation are also great. Damn, this thing keeps getting better and better.
I just saw it. I don't think it's one of the greatest action films ever made by any means. To me, it was nothing more than Mission: Impossible 6. Just another entry in this franchise. Having said that, I did enjoy it, and I'm all in for number 7.
169 reviews and sitting pretty at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Im genuinely impressed, always felt this was a little bit of an underrated franchise so seeing it get that kind of critical acclaim is fantastic. Cant wait to see it tomorrow.

I mean the last two movies both scored high reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, 93%. It was only the earlier movies when critics weren't so enamored with them.
This seems fairly consistent since the franchise made a comeback with Ghost Protocol, IMHO the first one to really get it right.
Also, I think the combination of Cruise, McQuarrie, Ferguson, Pegg, and Rhames all work very well. Renner not so much. This is really the only franchise Cruise really seems to "get" ATM.
Hot damn, this was a movie! Definitely top of the series for me. And FINALLY, a 3rd act that delivers bigger than the rest of the film. McQ has yet to let me down.
Also, I liked the score. Certainly not as traditionally sophisticated as Giacchino or Kraemer's work from the last two, but it made up for it with energy and muscle, imo. Served the movie very well to my ears.
Well I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I do think I enjoyed Rogue Nation slightly more. The plot and story was a little more tighter.
The good
The women. All the women were strong and independent but not written as shrills. I wish they actually had dialogue scenes together but still great overall.
I liked Ilsa more in RN more because she was a bit of a mystery in that one. But Rebecca Ferguson is a goddess.
Vanessa Kirby was also great. I havent seen her in anything else. Her being Maxs daughter wasnt necessary at all but I bought her in the role because she sounded just like her.
Michelle Monaghan had a small but pivotal role. I was worried they were just going to have her show up just to get captured. But they did her character justice and it was nice to get real closure on that part of Ethans life.
Suit up. Ill take that as a reference to Henrys other big role. I liked that he actually wasnt able to fly at all and needed saving, which I took as another wink to his Superman role.
Are we clear? Crystal. Nice reference to A Few Good Men
The HALO dive. The effects were seamless and well done.
The bathroom fight.
Hunley getting in on the action.
The not as good
I liked Cavill in the role but the character himself was written weak. I never bought he was tough guy who cleaned up messes. He passed out in the HALO jump. He barely held his own in the bathroom fight. If it wasnt for Henrys physique, I wouldnt have considered him much of a threat.
The IMF team. I liked Benji and Luther but I really wish there was a female on the team. Ilsa is perhaps an honorary member but not officially.
Boo to killing Hunley. We finally get a director that gets along with Hunt and they kill him off.
Cruise is still amazing with his dedication but his age is starting to show. There were some scenes where his face was kind of puffy and you can tell this was a 55 year old man. I dont know how much more he has left in him.
And if Im not mistaken, the scene in the first trailer where Ethan looks like he is going to drive into the logging truck isnt in the movie. I wonder when that would have taken place.
Bearing in mind that the evening is far from over,
Especially on the West Coast,
Deadline is reporting that MI:Fallout previews are on pace to make about 5 million plus.
Right now, its about 1 million dollars ahead of Ghost Protocol.

I can only guess that this would've been Ethan still getting used to flying the helicopter after dropping the payload, only to pull up at the last second. What a weird shot regardless. Despite what McQuarrie says, I don't know that I buy it as anything more than a trailer shot like Spider-man and Iron Man flying together.
Speaking of Brandt, I expected him to be revealed as a traitor in the fifth installment because he was the only other person who knew that
Julia was alive.
It might have made his character a bit more interesting.
I could be wrong about that, though.
