Movies that MUST be made...

Guillermo del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness.

That's why you change the story.
Have Malon travel with him, she can wield a bow.
Maybe add Ralph from the Oracle games.
Or have an older Colin from Twilight Princess follow him around.

Then you run the risk of giving Link an annoying sidekick whom he always has to get out of trouble.

Yeah, But I highly doubt Tingle would be one of his entourage.
with Malon, you have a potential love interest. Link believes he loves Zelda, but after his journey, he realizes that the woman he loves has been by his side all along.

Ugh, that sounds so cheesey. Although I always thought Ocarina of Time implied that Link and Zelda are siblings.

a zelda movie definately has potential...doesnt have to follow a game exactly...there are more than enough characters in the zelda universe that can aid Link...

siblings??? how so? i thought it always implied a SMALL love interest...hell a zelda movie could be completely rewritten my Shigeru Miyamato or whatever his name is (creator of zelda) ...he implied that he had interest in a movie...back when ocarina came out...but since then hes said he has no interest. with the right story and faithful to the characters, i think it would be a hit.

I have reasons to back it up. Don't really feel like going into it now.

Isnt hatchet a book

Yeah...someone needs to make a movie out of it...I think a straight to video version was attempted but I'm not to sure...lemme check
oh yeah...and they called it A Cry In the Wild not Hatchet.
Anyway...re-make it.

Cadillacs & Dinosaurs

When this is finally made into a movie, it will be the most successful film of all time.

id like a movie about the Babylonians...you know Nebopolosar, his son Nebuchadnezzar...hanging gardens...war...divertiing the river to defeat the babylonians, if you know your history....

Oh, but I do, hobgob, and I agree. But do you tell the story from the perspective of Nebuchadnezzar or Cyrus -- or intercut to show how the destinies of two great leaders collide?

(BTW, do you not find Babylon's greed for conquest and Nebuchanezzar's overconfidence a timely parallel to our present political climate in America?)

Treasure Island remake so we can have a differant pirates experiance.

Heartily agreed. I'd love to see this done as a proper adaptation, preferably as an extended Masterpiece Theatre series with a nice hefty budget, CGI ships and seascapes and an all British cast.

Fun fact about Ghostbusters, from Akroyd's own mouth: His original script was written for his buddy Jon Belushi and himself, and had to be changed when Jon O.D.'ed in the middle of its writing. Pity, because the concept was a sort-of sequel to Blues Brothers that took place in an apocalyptic future Earth ravaged by spirits and demons overflowing out of Hell -- and the only two men that can fight the onslaught are two cool cats "on a mission from God.' :yay:

The movie was intended to be a hard-R rated horror/action/black comedy, with violence, gore and scary ghosts. In fact, in the interview I read, Akroyd teased that Slimer played a major role, and was not cute or cuddley. Dude, if Jon had lived and this movie could have been made in the 80's with someone like Sam Raimi at the helm -- it just might have been the greatest movie of the decade.

Well, in all honesty, it would actually be the story of the Chaldeans, who rebuilt the city of Babylon..I dont know how i would tell the story to be honest...I feel Ametis(Nebuchadnezzars wife) could tell it...but then again, she couldn't... I wouldn't mind someone else telling the story(kinda like how Alexander is done, even though i hated that movie) If im correct, Cyrus and the Persians defeated

the Chaldeans(diverting the Euphrates etc) so i feel Cyrus' point of view would work nicely, but intercutting it would be best, that way it will show Neb's way of rule, the hanging gardens he had built(brilliant design by the way), the reason he did it(for Ametis) also how Daniel interprets Neb's dreams...

I'm not sure how or where i would end the movie though...could show Cyrus' compassion by allowing the hebrews to return to Canaan, or when he dies and Darius I wins rule...hell i dunno. If its done, it has to follow true history.

as to your 'BTW' question... yes i do, and am surprised i never thought of the 'present politcal climate of America' like that.... although we weren't "conquered" so to speak, one weakness was found and exploited in our airlines and WTC = the euprhates... very good comparison, you really opened my eyes with that...

also, the Assyrians, not too familiar with that civilization, but know enough...very brutal, used terror to conquer places...could make an interested start to the movie considering the Chaldeans and Medes joined to defeat them...

Oh, I forgot, my list:

Thudercats -- Photoreal CGI animated, Advent Children style, please. Epic sci-fantasy at its best.

Pirates of Dark Water -- Kickass 'toon, cult following, pirates are "so hot right now." Unless it gets chewed-up too bad by the Hollywood machine, this cannot fail. With thirteen treasures to find, it's a potential franchise.

A Tale of Time City -- A terrific book from my childhood by Diana Wynne Jones -- same chick that wrote Howl's Moving Castle. Begs to be a Pixar film. It may be a tween novel with a terrible title, but it's an awesome read.

Warcraft -- C'mon, how is this property not optioned yet? Yes, it's based on a game, but if you've played Warcraft 1 - 3, you know how intricate a story it weaves.

Metroid -- DAMMIT!

Heroes for Hire -- with serious super-hero films dominating the summer months, we need Powerman and Iron Fist to shake-down the genre and remind us how fun and how badass comics can be. Michael Bay needs to drop Transformers and do this instead.

Invincible -- the best original superhero comic in decades. Not to mention the best paternal plot twist since Empire Strikes Back.

-- END!

Oops, left out:

The Equalizer. I wonder how many on these boards are old enough to remember that show? It has an great premise that could easily be updated.

-- END!

I've watched the movie before back in 9th grade in High School. Ned Beatty from Superman plays a pilot who has a heart attack & dies while flying a plane & crashes it in the wilderness. The main kid is the same one who played younger Josh's friend in the movie Big with Tom Hanks & he was also in Honey I Shrunk The Kids & Pet Semetary 2.

I've had this idea for a LoZ film:

The King, Queen and young Zelda are traveling across Hryule and are just outside Link's village. The Prince of Thieves (a young Ganondorf) and his crew attack the the King's guards and the Royal Carriage. Some of the thieves botch the operation up and fail to kidnap the Queen instead she is killed. The remaining thieves head into the village and Ganondorf, whose face is under a mask only his eyes are seen, starts having his hand throb in pain. A redish triangle appears on his hand. Confused, he runs into a barn. He
kills Link's parents and steals their horse to escape.

Ganondorf later goes to a library and researches what the triangle meant and discovers that it is the Triforce and that's how he learns about it. And carefully plans to obtain it. Baby Zelda and Young Link of course are in the presence of Ganondorf so they too felt the pain of the Triforce and cry but their parents just died so it isn't noticed.

----
Then fit Ocarnia/Link to the Past into the story. Have people assist Link in each temple. If there are those that want to overthrow Ganondorf then surely they would help the one who matches the description of the Hero of Time.

I think the hardest part about making a Zelda movie would be unlike LOTR where there is always a group of characters, in Zelda, most of it is just Link journeying through a field, or mountains, or dungeon by himself. That doesn't leave much for character interaction, development, etc.

You should read the Ocarina of Time manga.

The Longbow Hunters..
the comic itself is a movie script.. :P

A zelda movie wouldn't work for the sole reason that it would feel like their watching a videogame.

The only real way that you could get Zelda to work is if you made it like the Dungeons and Dragons movie. It has a little backstory, but it's basically about Zelda getting captured, then Link going and saving her. No "we need to get this and this and this" bull****ery.

I'd love to see a Movie made based on the Final Fantasy X storyline

American Gods
Discworld
Good Omens
Snow Crash
The Diamond Age

in the middle of playing it....ZELDA NEEDS A GOOD EPIC MOVIE...
