Transformers Negatron: Discussion Thread for those that hate the way this movie is heading

Of course it will be dated due to the vehicles they use...but why make a mockery of itself by using corny pop culture dialogue?

Even the original series and the original movie had specified dates.

Yeah, i thought it was public knowledge. I guess cause i'm a Star Wars geek and used to hang out on the official boards, i know this.

But yeah, that was the worst saber duel ever. And Mace is sopposed to be the second best swordsman, after Yoda.... :whatever:

Not even Spielberg can polish a turd of a script, and he didn't handle the fight choreography.

I hope we don't see Transformers on this list one day:

Although I suspect that we probably will.

I almost wish Roland Emmerich was directing Transformers. His movies come of as *knowing* they're stupid. They don't take themselves seriously. Michael Bay's movies on the other hand seem to think they're the best of movies of all time (even though they're some of the worst).

 I liked The Patriot...and Mortal Kombat is a sinful treat. :woot:

Yeah, so this is very old news, but I never came back to this forum to say it.

*Clears voice*

Megatron's look in this movie SUCKS BALLS!

 I liked The Patriot...and Mortal Kombat is a sinful treat. :woot:

I liked The Patriot, too.

...I also liked Wild Wild West. (Because it had really funny parts in it, and some were because of how bad the movie was)

*Hides from rocks*

There wasn't much else other then fighting in that scene, thats a pretty darn small amount of directing if thats the case.

..my point is, he **** up what little involvemnet he did have in Ep 3 of Star Wars.

That scene was atrocious.:cmad:

 I liked The Patriot...and Mortal Kombat is a sinful treat. :woot:

The Patriot was OK.... It was decent because the story itself was pretty interesting. But, it could have been a whole hell of a lot better. Roland Emerrich totally dumbed that one down. Imagine, Clint Eastwood directing that story! It would have been great.

As for Mortal Kombat... .don't even get me started. I waited on line for like 2 hours in NYC back in the day when it came out. :cmad:

i don't understand why they had to change the look of all the characters. ok, i know that some cars are outdated, but still, starscream is an f-15 which still flies, bumblebee is a beetle which still drives. also the fact that megatron looks like ****. there was no need to schange his look so drastically. also the fact that he doesn't have his trademark gun sucks big time. this movie has nothing to do with transformers.

I have returned. and I immediately find the stupidity has not ended.

They changed it because Michael Bay has a huge ego and he is under the impression that he is wiser than all of the hundreds of people who worked on transformers movies, cartoons, comics, etc over the years. He is so wise that he threw out all of thier ideas (especially the good ones) and came up with his own crack team of dipsh**s to totally reinvent a franchise that only needed an update.
How can he get away with it? Because 90% of the moviegoers are morons and they wont know the difference as long as there are alot of explosions and tons of CGI. Tad will love this movie.

That chase was pretty good. I can see Spielberg having done that. But, yeah, the Windu/Palpatine duel was weak.

That chase was 'meh' imo. Still think he directed the duel.

well actually in RotS , spielberg had a say in the sidious vs yoda duel. Im a Star Wars affecionado and its written down in the Making Of book :cwink:

If someone wants to get a scan of it?

EDIT: found the quote myself

In a recent interview with "The Making of the Revenge of the Sith" author, J.W. Rinzler, over at StarWars.com has revealed that director Steven Spielberg played a role in bringing Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith to the big screen...

Steven Spielberg was involved in some of the animatic sequences in the film. Can you tell us about that?

As George explains in the book, he gave Spielberg a few scenes to play with at the animatics stage: a bit of the Mustafar duel, and Yoda's duel with the Emperor, along with a couple of others. How much of Spielberg's contribution made it to the final film, only Lucas or Spielberg could say, particularly as George revised and reinvented every scene in the film so extensively in editorial.

I second this motion. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation should be up there in it's place. The first Mortal Kombat was the only okay film Paul W. S. Anderson has ever slapped his name onto in his existence.

I was big MK fan. And a Chris Lambert fan too boot. I think the first MK sucks. It could have been soooooo much better. I dont remember the 2nd one at all.... I was drunk on white tequila when I saw it. I remember liking it.... but, it could have just been the tequila.

MK deserves to be on any "crap movie" list because of the potential it squandered. Right next to Pearl Harbor (also because of the potential squandered).

Actually, MK was better than Pearl Harbor. And probably more realistic. :woot:

Granted it has been a few years since law school.... but,

"Major character" is subjective and doesn't really mean anything. Coca Cola is a "major character" in Andy Worhol's painting... and when Coke sued, they lost.

I've already posted links to court cases involving this. Basically, you are wrong. Sure, VW has every right to sue... but, they'd likely loose in the end. They would have to prove damages and THEN they would have to prove that their damages are more than it would cost the studio to pull the movie. And even after all that, they'd have to somehow prove how that pesky freedom of expression clause in the Constitution shouldn't apply in their particular case.

The fact that movie studios ask for permission is WHOLEY due to 1) Politeness, 2) Contractual agreements (they may have already agreed to always ask for permission in exchange for the use of the cars in some OTHER movie long ago) and 3) $$$$ money. The movies studios get the companies to pay THEM for product placement.

The General Lee is a major character in Dukes of Hazzard. And one with what many people consider a racist emblem emblazoned on it. When Dodge said NO to it being used in the recent Dukes movie, the studio said they were going to use it ANYWAY. Why? Because they could (The Consitition of the United States gives them that right). And Dodge acquiesed... but refused to be a part of any marketing tie-ins.[/quote]

that was the best part of the movie...how when they were driving through Atlanta some crazy hicks loved them for it and others hated them for it, it was the one part of the movie that really made me laugh

I see what you mean. If you were upset that the first one could have been better, then you're lucky you were drunk ;) yes MK:A was that bad. Soooo very bad....
