Another look at the figs. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/02/11/collectibles-expose-thor-the-dark-worlds-dark-elves

Personally I'm not convinced they're from the film.

Id say they are definitely connected to it. Seems like they are doing the same thing like they did with Origins. The figures are tied to the films characters but its not how they will look exactly casue of variants and stuff. Im sure the film accurate ones will be there too, just like Origins.

Latest from Mangold:

James Mangold ‏@mang0ld Tell me you think we're lame after you see the teaser. At least then you will be critiquing images from the film, not a marketing window.

From end of March till release, you'll be saturated. Relax, yuk. I've never found the coolest people are the first to arrive at a party.

Take a deep breath. End of March.

I saw these tweets tonight. Some people really seem to be attacking him...poor guy. He just directed the movie. Not in charge of marketing. But I LOVE his confidence about the movie and the upcoming teaser :D

Wow another month!

Though I'm not so surprised by this. First Class came out in June 2011 and the teaser trailer came out in February 2011 (i think). 4 months after the movie was released! God, this better not happen to DOFP!

Again, I'll never understand people having a tantrum because they can't get their trailer RIGHT NOW. I can't wait to see it either, but I have plenty of other things to do in the meantime. Waiting a little longer for a trailer is not that big of a deal.

Think about how messed up the last movie was. Now there's someone in charge who repeatedly states that he wants to make things right, and of course the overgrown children of the internet have to throw a fit. :whatever:

Personally I'm not convinced they're from the film.

Sometimes hasbro makes a line of comic figs that are made up of the characters appearing in a movie at the same time. They're "pseudo" related if you will.

That being said.... I've never seen a silver samurai that looked like that... And it has alot more detail than most comic based figures. So don't be shocked

It really seems that Mangold wants everything to be perfect for this film. Just from reading his tweets, it seems he's really taking the time to get the effects just right. And it's nice to read that. It shows he really cares about the finished product and wants the best for the fans.

Not saying that other directors don't. But it is nice to read.

Yes, I won't be shocked if Silver Samurai ends up looking like that in the movie.

And the good thing about Silver Samurai's costume is it is actually similar to his costume in the comics.

I think aintitcool might be jumping the gun here. The design of the action figure is taken from this drawing by Mark Brooks:

http://diablo2003.deviantart.com/art/Ultimate-Silver-Samurai-9405058

Which is a few years old now. It's his idea of what Silver Samurai could look like in the Ultimate Marvel universe. The weird thing is I don't think Silver Samurai has appeared like this in any published comic and it's basically just fan art done by a professional comic artist, I wonder if he knows that Hasbro are using his design?

The shoulder armour and helmet crest thing don't match up between the picture of Silver Samurai from the film set and the action figure either, so I'm guessing it doesn't represent what Silver Samurai will look like in the film.

OK, soooo, that toy is clearly not the same armor that was in the spy pic.
They're a little similar, but if you look hard, they're really quite different.

I won't be surprised if the armor does end up looking similar to the toy.
But the pics don't line up
Sorry

Good plan on their end. People will go see this come next month I think.

No single footage released 4 months before the release of a high profile early july release and he's telling fans to relax. That's some confidence.

Fox did this to the last Xmen movie too, they ended up all but releasing the entire film with various spots and features in a short time. Then again Vaughn had sooo little time to make that movie.

Considering the condition of the Wolverine brand, I would think Fox would "try their best"

At this point, it could be argued that we've seen more of the next spiderman than this film.

Mangold is very stringent about this movie. Even moreso than his previous stuff.

July 26 is "early July"???

Actually, late July is more of 'not the biggest movie of the summer and we can get away with a trailer in March' type of planning.

I believing "trying their best" would be putting a good movie together, not racing out a half-assed trailer that would leave fanboys complaining that it looked rushed and incomplete.

Good god, no kidding. Green Lantern released an early trailer, an abysmal early trailer, and the marketing never recovered. As for The Wolverine, I'm not worried. People complain now, but I'll probably be sick of Wolverine TV spots by the end of the NBA finals.

I agree! Honestly, internet...go watch Walking Dead, or something. Quit harrassing Mangold on Twitter for a trailer. :argh:

Same marketing Fox did for Rise of the Planet of the Apes; first teaser was released in early April, and the movie opened August 5th.

I was thinking of Pacific Rim and Lone Ranger and for some reason I thought fox ended up with an early July. Figures it would be at the end.

I however believe "trying their best" would be getting a good early start on production(unlike First Class) working their quality and getting a good amount of promotional material out there with the rest of their competition. First footage seen 4 months out isn't their best and I'm very curious what the the actual reasoning is.

Long story short, there should be no need to "race out a half assed anything." Unlike PRim, I would hope this film wasn't exceptionally reliant on CGI you won't want getting out unfinished.
