Next Assassin's Creed Game Reportedly Set During The Viking Age

I don't know how they are going to do this Norway - London back and forth, like can we sail from Norway to London during free roam? or just click the fast travel button to go to London like in the previous games that feature more than 1 map. I was only expecting Scandinavian. Like if we can sail from London to Norway vice versa, the seas are going to take a lot of space in the map.

I understand, sorry for being so defensive...its just that its been a while since i was really excited for something and especially with the current times...seeing AC finally going with the setting i always wanted and love, gets me really hyped.
I know that trusting screenshots or nice CGI trailers or even gameplay trailers is a bit a of a tricky thing.

I loved all the AC games and especially Origins and Odyssey so i do put my trust in the Ubisoft developers when it comes to Assassins creed...but yeah, healthy wariness should be applied.
Cinematic trailers can be deceiving. The cg trailer for the first couple of Ac games looked different from the actual gameplay.

However, the gameplay graphics of Valhalla should probably at least look similar to Origins/Odyssey if not better.

London? Like modern day London exploration? It should just be Norway as a giant map

It probably wont be much more seas than Odyssey's map. Besides, the maps are never to actual scale. The devs reduced the distances and scales and altered positions of the Greek isles for Odyssey. Same thing was done for Black Flag. I expect they will do the same for Valhalla.

This game seems to be mostly set in the British Isles. The (Danes) invaded England, Ireland, and Wales repeatedly from 784 to 1066. Tho its possible the game will include Norway and the British Isles.

I'm curious about the Assassin aspect. Bayek and wife originated the creed while Alexios and Kassandra were mercenaries

I'm curious to see if Kassandra shows up in this game and how involved she was behind the scenes during the 2300 years she was alive. Im sure she kept an eye on her granddaughter Aya, but did she ever reveal herself to any Assassins or only act behind the scenes to protect the Order. Plus there seems to be something much bigger going on than Assassins versus Templars. Something Kassandra and the Isu were involved in.

Do I need to play Origin before Odyssey?

I just started Odyssey last night. I think that will be my next project after playing FF VII and Persona 5 Royal. but should I play through Origin first to understand the story?

No. Odyssey is set before Origins with new characters. It's the oldest in the franchise timeline actually. There are some connections to origins but nothing vital

ah, thanks. didn't know that. But then, shouldn't Odyssey have been called Origins since it's the oldest in the timeline? haha......

Origins is the origins of the assassin creed brotherhood. Oddesey is the catalyst of many things to come in the future.

It explores things connected to the franchise but just not assassins directly

I see. thanks! Well, I'll play Origins after Odyssey then.

yeah both are among the best of the franchise

So reading the informations online, this is what I got
-Layla and the other present day characters (I'm assuming Connor's friends and his dad) are back.
-The game is less focused on leveling up but more focused on the skill tree? And the enemies' difficulty will depend in the skills you've activated
-Less naval activity?i miss the legendary ships from Black Flag/Rogue.
-You have a headquarter/settlement that you can upgrade similar to Black Flag. But you will look for other resources, not just money in able to upgrade it. This sounds exciting as I miss the Hideout from the last two games.
-Only 1 protagonist. You can change her or hair color - which I'm looking forward to as I want the lead character to be a redhead for a change.
-Set in the 9th century, before year 1000. Set between Origins and the first game.
-Raven instead of the Eagle.
-You will conquer places in England and I'm assuming you won't getto do that in Norway?

^^nice!! I can't wait to see actual gameplay pics and footage from the next gen consoles.

I am liking this setting.

Less naval activity? If true, that makes me happy.... I liked Black Flag well enough, but the sailing mechanic started to grate on me (but that it existed in that game, understandable given the time period/storyline they chose). Origins I was okay with the amount of sailing in that one with the few Aya missions, wasn't as much a fan with Odyssey (though I felt it more tolerable than Black Flag). - just my personal opinion/preference.

Also glad to hear that they're bringing back the hideout/homebase type aspect and so hopefully the economy comes with it as a way to automatically generate income that can then be used to upgrade (whether invest it back into the town/village and upgrade it, or have money to upgrade your weapons/armor/etc...)

Odyssey didn't have much Naval activity compare to Black Flag. Like I only really used the ship when the story or side quest required me to do it. And I rarely used the ship for travel once I visited every island and I just relied on fast travel if I want to go to another island.

Last year, I went back to playing Black Flag just to get the 100% upgrades for the ship and to defeat the 4 legendary ships. Plus the naval map activity to unlock rewards/artworks. And that took me like two weeks to finish. There was just so much grinding but that game really made the most out of the ship. Odyssey not really. Like I liked that the crew can change clothes and your family members are part of your crew but the ship was less useful compare to Black Flag/Rogue. So I'm surprised that the ship won't have much use for Valhalla aside from the usual sea travel/customization/ship upgrades.

Black Flag's naval stuff was awesome for a while but then I got over it. Odyssey's was cool for one mission but then quickly got annoying.

I'm usually not a fan of ship sailing or naval battles in games. so, the less the better, imo.
