Next Assassin's Creed Game Reportedly Set During The Viking Age

Odyssey didn't have much Naval activity compare to Black Flag. Like I only really used the ship when the story or side quest required me to do it. And I rarely used the ship for travel once I visited every island and I just relied on fast travel if I want to go to another island.

Last year, I went back to playing Black Flag just to get the 100% upgrades for the ship and to defeat the 4 legendary ships. Plus the naval map activity to unlock rewards/artworks. And that took me like two weeks to finish. There was just so much grinding but that game really made the most out of the ship. Odyssey not really. Like I liked that the crew can change clothes and your family members are part of your crew but the ship was less useful compare to Black Flag/Rogue. So I'm surprised that the ship won't have much use for Valhalla aside from the usual sea travel/customization/ship upgrades.
That's why I found Odyssey's sailing more tolerable, it wasn't as inherent to the storyline (except for some side quests and things like that)... for me that's the type of sailing I don't mind.

Black Flag I would just get so frustrated, like there's that one mission where you have to protect the little gun boat or whatever so that it can blow up blockade (not sure if I'm remembering right, it's been a while since I've played through Black Flag, and even then the last time I played was only like my 2nd play through of that game)..... I just had a really hard time with it. So the less sailing for me, the better :oldrazz:

But I can see how some people that like that type of thing would miss it

I also forgot to mention that the ship in Black Flag (and Rogue) was needed to hunt down sea creatures and the access to underwater sections. Odyssey's ship was kinda an afterthought and you don't need to fully upgrade it as you are not taking down super powerful ships. I feel like, they couldhave played a bit more with the sea, like defeat a sea monster using the ship or catch giant squids (especially there was a squid port in the game which looked really cool).

As for Valhalla, I hope there's more Norway than England. I'm not excited going to England as England was already used in Syndicate (and is the location of Watch Dogs Legion which I plan to play as well).

I'm alsothinking about the next game already. I'm assuming Ubisoft Quebec is the main developer and they are already working on it (hopefully). The locations I want to see in a future Ac game
-Mongolia (Mongol empire) - though it could look very similar to Valhalla just without the Norse mythology
-Spain (and maybe the Philippines since Spain colonized it for three centuries)
-Somewhere in South America but not a country that is near the Caribbean
-i wouldn't mind a AC game set in the 20th century as I've been reading a lot of world history, world war 1 and 2 and the countries that recently broke up (like Ussr/Yugoslavia). It'd be so interesting if they put a twist in these 20th century events, as long as its not set in America (as Ac already featured America in the previous games). I loved the little segment that we got in Unity/Syndicate feat. World War 1 and 2.

The most frustrating about Black Flag is tailing. The ship missions are easy once you got the full upgrades.

And the sea in Black Flag also had big waves and tornadoes. The more I think about Black Flag, the more I realized how tamed Odyssey's sea was.

There will be free next gen upgrades

Layla and the other present day characters are back"

Shaun Hastings better not be back
:hehe: I love Hastings and the original crew that ran with Desmond. Theyve been woefully underused.

As for Layla, theres no leaving her out at this point. Kassandra passed the staff of Hermes and Atlantis to Layla. The Isu trained and foresaw Layla. Layla is as of now the most important character in the whole franchise. Which is why Ubi needs to start putting as much effort into the modern day sections as the historical sections.

Very exciting!! I am fine that Ubisoft turns out releasing this first before Far Cry 6 (which I am waiting the most).

I am glad that I can be choose as a female heroine again after I play as Kassandra in Odyssey.

I just love the Norse Mythology (My favorite hero is Thor, after all...hehe).
Oh, I also hope Ubisoft can make the world of Norse with more grounded and real than God of War ...and more in line with the real history event. After all, that is what Assassins Creed is all about. (Let God of War handle the more fantasy element of the Norse myth).

Fair point about Layla. I personally don't want to see any present stuff at all but I know Layla has become important in the franchise than when she started out

Layla murdered her friend in Fate of the Atlantis. I feel like she would be killed off at some point and I don't mind. They need a better protagonist.

Both Layla and Desmond are extremely bland. I feel like the present day segments would have been more engaging if they came up with a better character. There are characters in the not so well recieved games that made the game a little better, like Arno, Shay and the siblings from Syndicate.

There was/is just nothing interesting about Desmond/Layla.

Don't know about PS but Xbox's digital store has a big AC franchise sale up to 70% off until the 11th. I bought Odyssey's season pass for $20 instead of the $40 regular price

Pretty much every game is on sale from ACII-on wards with some being collections. The original game should have a remaster!

From what I've seen online, the graphics of the 1st game looks great. So I want Ubisoft to just release it in ps4 discs, and don't change the color grading. Ac2 remastered looks terrible imo.

I don't want a remake as they could just use their time expanding the story of the franchise, through an entirely new game. And most likely, an Ac1 remake would lead to more remakes, and a lot of these ac games don't simply look dated and old enough toget a remake treatment.

I can accept that if truly the reason

They didn't show any gameplay in that Xbox live stream.... ugh! The graphics look great but they only showed cinematics.

Haven't seen the xbox stream yet but cinematics are great to highlight characters and world building. We know the game will still look impressive and we have an idea of what the game play will be like

Here's the so called "Gameplay" trailer (only not really gameplay footage, but more like cutscene/cinematic footage).... also, it's once again focused on the male version of the character (is it too much to ask to see more of the female version in the marketing?!)

would have liked to see more actual gameplay and female protag.

I don't mind this.

But I hope they keep the "recycling stuff" in the msg boards. I think it took me 4 weeks to finish every side quests (plus an additional two weeks when I went back to it to claim remaining side story quests trophies) , but there are still things that pop up in the message boards, that no matter how many times you finish it, the game will still have tasks for you to play.

As for that video. Yeah I'm really disappointed. They lied. thats not gameplay.

I don’t mind reduced length if it means higher quality for the time we do get.

I don't remember if there was a discovery tour trailer for Odyssey but i hope there is one for Valhalla. I love that mode so much

I hope the "talking scenes" don't look very samey especially in side quests.

I want a smaller map. But I'm wondering how big or small the map of Norway is. I don't really want another Ac game set in the UK, because that country already had its own Ac game (Syndicate). And I'm sensing there will be more things to explore in the UK. Like its cool that they are featuring the Stonehenge, but I want to explore Ac's version of Norway.

My interest is in Norway and so I'll mostly be exploring that area. I'll do missions in England that I have to and then fast travel back home!

I want to be a viking in Norway with his culture and own people than walk around England as an assassin viking. Constantly invading won't be my thing
