Next Assassin's Creed Game Reportedly Set During The Viking Age

Assassin's Creed games are notorious for being leaked (usually by Ubisoft) to build hype. I wouldn't entirely dismiss any rumors right off the bat. There is bound to be hints at what the next game might be in Valhalla.
Yep. Every single game is intentionally leaked early to build anticpation.

Come on, now they do this kind of **** on purpose right?
I mean how can you "miss" all the female assassins? I know they dont have too many to begin with, but missing the few they have...isnt an accident or so.

At this point they just do it for the laugh it seems.
Definitely no accident. Liberation and China were small spinoff games, Evie's role was reduced in favor of Jacob content, Aya's role was dramatically altered and reduced in Origins, and Alexios wasn't originally even supposed to be an option for the player character until the higher ups decided the game would sell better with a male protagonist. I'd hoped that would change given that some of the people behind those decisions have left, but they still seem to believe "women don't sell". They have yet to just straight up give us a female protagonist in an AC game without there being some sort of drawback or catch.

There's speculation online that Assassin's Creed 2022 could be Mongol Invasion set in China. Thatwould be cool especially if they feature Mongolia as setting as well. And I don't think I've played any games set in China. I always see China Town in games but not the country itself. And iirc, parts of Resident Evil 6 were set in Hong Kong not exactly in mainland China.
China is easily my favorite pick for locations they could use, it deserves so much more than just a cheap spinoff game.

I'm not forgetting that side game eXists. Thats the only Ac (Ac chronicles) game that I didn't pickup in the stores.

I hope they'll revisit China, India and Russia in the main AC games.

So most likely BS.
I'm inclined to believe the China rumor simply because Tencent owns 5 percent in Ubisoft and helped Ubi avoid a takeover by Vivendi in 2018 which is about the time the next AC game would have been conceived. I speculate when Tencent and Ubi made their little partnership Tencent pitched them an AC game set in China and Ubi saw it as an opportunity to tap into the Chinese market.

I hope with all my heart that it is true.

I'm all for a Chinese AC game, but during the mongol invasion? No. I hope that part doesn't end up being true.

Let's go with 3 Kingdoms China.

I really love Assassins Creed game to be set in East Asia,,whether it is in China or in my mainland, Japan.

I think the fact that Ghost of Tsushima already used Japan, should not hold off Ubisoft to use Japan again, but in different setting. If Ghost of Tsushima set in Mongol Invasion during Kamakura bakufu, then Assassins Creed could use the more ancient era like Heian era or Heike era, or my personal choice is Meiji Revolution era (this is the times where American fleet made its first arrival on Tokyo (at that time still named Edo) Bay and political figures both from shogunate and foreign ambassador being assasinated right and left by hitokiri/assassins).

If Japan is indeed being picked in the future by Ubisoft, I cannot think any more better setting for Assassins Creed game than Meiji Revolution era (the most famous non fiction samurai assassins (Okada Izo, Kawakani Gensai, and Shinsengumi samurai group) and also fiction (Kenshin) came from this era.

If China, I agree..the Three Kingdom era is the best choice, where we can choose as assassins from Wu, Shu, and Wei empire.

The potential is limitless if Ubisoft pick Japan or China (as the most rich historical countries in the world) as next setting.

Anyone watched the new videos? I can't wait for Valhalla. Like Origins and Odyssey, there's a LOT of things to do but they added so much more. I can't watch the entire gameplay videos as it's just a lot to process and I prefer playing than watching long walkthroughs. But I can't wait to play it. Also you can switch the gender of Aivor anytime. You can also kinda travel to Asgard/Jotunhein, its like a hallucination or something.

I like when they do stuff like that. The more fantasy/sci-fi stuff like that is some of my favorite stuff in these games.

I'm so pumped just by reading this.

I did. I am little dissapointed the set is mostly in England than Norway, but I am still looking forward to play it on December, as soon as I get my PS5 console machine. (Hope I will get it on time this time, haha).

Just like I pick Kasandra, I will pick the girl Eivor this time, too.

But I really hope the map will not bigger than Odyssey. In Odyssey, the side quest and mission is no problem for me, but I am a little exhausted just by exploring the whole place on the map. (Thats one minor thing I feel about Odyssey, the place sometimes become repeatitive).

The new trailer reveals that the Viking settlement in North America is in the game. It says "From Norway to England to new worlds." Then shows a Native American in a canoe on a river.:mrk:

Also the kill animations in this game are awesome, and you can behead enemies during combat. I cant wait to get Excalibur!

The gender switching is still weird and IDK how they are going to justify it in universe. Looking at the menu it says the default option is to let the animus choose and it will decide between male and female based on which gender is more strongly synced or some such thing. Not sure what that means.

To be honest, dismemberment is long over due in this series.

I wonder how long it takes to mass produce millions of copies.

20% of the sales are probably digital copies. Though I'm assuming their manufacturers can produce at least 100k disc/packaging per week for the standard editions. While The artwork could have been printed ahead of the Gold status.

I think the physical editions are stocked pretty well. I always see their games in retail stores. There's an Ubisoft office here in my country (somewhere in Southeast Asia who also put work into this game). So that could have been a factor as well.

Can’t wait for this gonna be one of the first games I get digitally on my ps5. This and Miles Morales ultimate edition with the Spider-Man remaster.

I would get the ps5 version.... if only its the same as the price of the ps4 disc. I'm waiting for them to announce the game pass which is twenty dollars more in ps4. Between this and Watch Dogs Legion, I would really busy just playing games in the neXt two months! Can't wait.

I hope there's a follow up right away in 2021. If the speculation regarding China/Mongolia is correct... it wouldn't surprise me. They have referenced Genghis Khan and the Assassin that killed him in AC universe so many times in the past, so this might be the time for it.

Season pass:
1. The Legend of Beowulf (eXclusive mission)
2. Wrath of the Druids (set in Dublin, Ireland) spring 2021
3. The Siege of Paris (set in France) summer 2021

4 set of free content for all editions - late 2020 to fall 2021.

The good news is, I don't feel tempted to buy this. Odyssey's eXpansions are much more interesting. However, it is featuring Ireland as a location even though I don't like the spooky vibe and the return to Paris (Unity is one of my most played Ac games). I shall see if this worth buying in November.
