The real cocky guy of that scene is Warhead

Sorry if this has been brought up, but in the official clip with Captain Marvel and the gang, did anyone hear those whispers in the background right as Thor is approaching Carol? Listen with headphones. At :49-:50, I swear someone whispers
"I have telepathy." Which is just weird since that ain't one of Carol's powers, and that would be an odd thing to think at someone anyway, lol.

And no, in case someone's wondering, this isn't a "Venom in the eye" joke. :oldrazz:

I heard it too, it was definitely a ladies voice as well. Maybe the Russo's are just messing with people

It's always better when other people can hear the creepy voices too. :funny:

It might be a mistake, maybe something else was playing in the background. It doesn't make any sense for that to be in the scene.

AntMan is in her ear whispering, the prankster

It wouldn't be the first time. Listen closely after Groot speaks. What is that? lol

As bad as the Fox X-Men run was I think it's definitely a case of everything happens for a reason.

Boo-urns to you, good sir. :oldrazz: Three of the four Singer flicks & Logan are better movies than the lion's share of the MCU (I'll fight you :) ), and the Vaughn one's on-par with most of the good ones. The Wolverine's awesome too until Bayformers Samurai Guy shows up. It's pretty much just 3 & where Rothman went all strong-armed-grand-poobah like Wolverine Origins that blow.

But yeah, if they'd had Spidey & X-Men from the start it would have taken them longer to get around to Iron Man & Cap and the other in-universe big guns. I have no doubt they'd have made those movies eventually though, with Kevin helming the studio, he knows how important those guys are to the material. But yeah, seems like history panned out for the best in general, I wouldn't want a world where the Singer-verse X-Men didn't happen before the MCU (and let's be honest, Kevin wouldn't have got the chance to start this crazy Marvel universe journey if they hadn't) or a world without the two awesome Raimi flicks, and going the way it went allowed them to jump into Iron Man/Thor/Cap right away which no other studio seemed to want to touch anyway.

Count me in as a fan of the Fox X-Men films too.

Why is it that everyone is now saying the entire era of Fox Xmen movies was total utter crap now? Im seeing that sentiment so often now as if there werent several gems that we as fans all collectively loved and still love from them.

Seems to be a pretty common thing now, yeah.

But take the Fox stuff on the whole, it's still like 4 awesome, 2 ****ty, and a couple nothing-amazing-but-fine. That ratio's not really any different to the MCU, and it's besting the DCEU stuff so far.

I wouldn't want any of those X-Men directors working within the shared-universe MCU, it's not their type of thing, but Singer & Mangold's stuff is at least equal to the top-level stuff under Marvel Studios. At least. That's a pretty big chunk of the Fox era. It's just those total ninnies Rothman & Ratner & Hood that peed in the pool, but that only seemed an issue on two movies and they've been gone for like a decade. Arad doesn't seem to have d*ck to do with the recent stuff either.

I don’t think people are saying it’s total crap so much as they never reached full potential.

There were always good moments but the only ones I can rewatch are X-2, FC, and DOFP. That’s not a great batting average.

I don't agree on Singer vs MCU. X1 is an ugly film IMO and doesn't work for me all that much. X-Men Apocalypse is sort of a mess. X2 is a good movie, but I don't put it up with CBM elites mostly because it is still Wolverine and Friends. Now, DoFP is my jam. That one was excellent. But still, that is 3 out of 4 movies that I would prefer the lion's share of MCU movies against.

But that is just me. I am not really looking to make this an X-Men discussion thread. Just leaving my 2 cents and stopping.

Don't forget that Deadpool movies are also part of Fox's X-Universe.

From Reddit:

Let’s put this to bed.

I’ve worked a bit in sound engineering and decided to do a bit of work on this “voice.” I listened through this section probably about 100 times while EQing and adjusting the play speed and have concluded that the initial sound (the one that makes up the “I” sound people are hearing) is the beginning of a breath/sigh from Thor. Its frequencies match very closely to the sigh we hear later in the clip after he sets down Stormbreaker.

Because they are so close, I clipped out Thor’s ending sigh from both trailer 2 and this clip. Using an FIR (or Finite Impulse Response) plugin, I can subtract or “pull out” the frequencies of Thor’s sigh from trailer 2 and this clip. I can also pull out the frequencies of the background noise and the music that begin as soon as Thor stands up in the new clip. Which are the same as when folks are hearing this “voice.”

After this, you’re not left with much when it comes to audio, as a majority of the frequencies have been removed. Interestingly enough, there’s still a bit of audio left over from the portion that folks are hearing as “I have telepathy.” It’s two distinct noises that I believe are making up the “T” and “L” sounds that folks are hearing.

In short, I believe the sound we’re hearing that makes up the “I” folks are hearing is Thor’s sigh/breath. If you listen carefully enough, you can hear it continue throughout the entire “voice” section; distinct from the other “letters” and is most likely also the long “E” sound at the end of “telepathy.” The two noises I mentioned above that remained (the “T” and the “L”) are most likely some background noise or something else, but it’s almost certain these noises do not relate to each other, and our human brains are trying to make sense of them (it’s an evolutionary thing).

I also could be dead wrong. Hopefully, we’ll know in about 17 days.

TL;DR: Through some sound manipulation, it’s likely we’re hearing a set of noises that make up this “whisper.” Another Yani/Laurel situation.

Edit/UPDATE: New realization as I continued to dig into this. So far we’ve figured out that the “I” sound is coming from the beginning of Thor’s sigh and the long e “Y” sound is the end of his sigh. If you watch carefully, Thor is rubbing his hands together (gotta get rid of those Hawaiian roll crumbs). I was able to isolate the sounds of his hands, and the third one very perfectly lines up with the “P” sound in “telepathy.” Thus, this is why we’re hearing that “P.”

In addition, after pulling out the upper frequencies with another FIR, there are a set of low frequency noises that I believe are contributing to the “T” and “L” sounds. I’ll have to experiment further, but this is DEFINITELY human pattern recognition.

Well, for my part, I still enjoy X2...moderately, Logan, Deadpool, Deadpool 2 ,and, for some reason, I like First Class. Probably because It feels more like an X-Men comic than the others. DoFP is so well loved, but the climax, with them fighting.....wait for it....MAGNETO again...just soured me on the whole film. They had a great opportunity to do a Dark Knight level ending to that film, and botched. Imagine if Erik had used the sentinels, turned them on the humans, then stopped them while branding the X-Men the real terrorists...setting up a really awesome X-Men Apocalypse...as opposed to the crappy Power Rangers villain version we got.

I agree some of the X films havent particularly aged gracefully but when they hit they hit HIGH. Man, I remember in 2011 we were all writing First Class off and was sure it was going to be a spectacular failure and we all walked out going “holy crap, how did Vaughn do that?” First Class and DOFP are a perfect one-two punch in my opinion and some of the best the genre has to offer. The Wolverine was GREAT until the studio stepped in the third act and told Mangold “its ok, we’ll take it from here, we need some cgi in this boring drama you’re making.” And then Logan is just excellent cinema.

Point is, when the X films were good they werent just good they were GREAT.

Meh. I disagree on the Singer movies. I think they were good for their time, but they show how limited they were in the 00s and how badly the X-Men were outmatched by the MCU in the 2010s.

Logan's a good movie but it's ultra bleak and depressing. I don't care if I anger people by saying that.

Once again everything happens for a reason. I think films like Logan are fine, but I don't want 22 editions of Logan.

Meh. First Class is overrated.
