This is why I really want to see it on opening night with a crowd of people who will appreciate every minute of this movie. It's just a way more enjoyable experience.
Agreed. Adds to the atmosphere. But there was def. a buzz in virtually every showing of TDK I went to ... it was THAT damn good.

The more I talk to my friends about this the more I realize I will be watching this movie alone :funny:

I wish I could watch it alone, and in an empty theater...

That way, I could soak up all it's glory without a distraction! :awesome:

Me and about 12 friends booked a every seat in a really small theatre, about 35-40 seats I think so it was just us. Best part - about 5 of them cancelled. Ahhh it was bliss. AND we still had the same reactions, enthusiasm, just to a more smaller scale. Definitely trying that again.

I attended the premier of TDK here in Dublin. It was the best cinema going experience of my life. People were dressed as Batman, the Joker, wearing Batman t-shirts etc. The audience was the best. Everyone laughed at the funny parts, jumped at the fright parts (The copycat Batman body hitting the Mayor's window, Harvey's "SAY IT!!!" etc). There was a monstrous applause at the end when the credits came up.

If my TDKR experience is half as good as that I'll be pleased.
TDK was the best cinemas going experience so far as well. I stood in line waiting to get in, every single person inching for that cinema to open. There was a buzz. Everyone had waited for this film and it had almost become a myth. They had all heard about it for months, and the time had finally come to see it. People couldn't believe it, nor could they contain it.

When the rope was lifted, people literally stormed that cinema lobby like crazed clowns. It was every man, woman and child for themselves. In my entire life I have not witnessed or felt that type of hysteria for a film.

The line for popcorn and drinks was a small army. People were restless, impatient and just wanted to get in to the theatre as soon as possible. As the clock ticked down to the film's commencement, people at the back of the candy bar line erupted in disgust at the slow pace of service. They stormed off from where they were, up the hallway and into the cinema. I was one of them.

The cinema was packed. There was an electric atmosphere. People were relieved they were finally seated and the wait would be lifted off their anxious minds. After what seemed like an eternity, the curtains were drawn and the lights dimmed. From the pitchest of black, a burning blue Bat emblem scorched out toward us, and the film was on.

The audience were mostly silent for the entire showing, their eyes transfixed on the screen. Almost in disbelief that they were watching this much anticipated film. However, whenever that fellow by the name of The Joker turned up, people sat up and took notice.

I remember a lot of the memorable moments got great reactions but that whole sonar bit was booooorrriiinngg :funny:

Feeling like ignoring all my assignments and watching TDK again.

Biggest applause was Gordon's return

I was at the West Nyack pre-screening & that was definitely one of the best moments. Everyone clapped when he was promoted to Commish too. :woot: :hrt: Such an enthusiastic, excited crowd who really cared about the characters and had been following the production & virals for months just made seeing the movie for the first time even more amazing. Couldn't be topped. Most of the audience stayed to clap for Heath at the end too. :csad:

But it was interesting to see the things that different audiences reacted to in later showings. The crowd at the midnight showing I went to reacted a lot more to the Bruce parts, while for the 'regular' audience at a weekend showing, the Joker obviously got the most attention (although there was one person who clapped after the Bruce & Rachel kiss...there was a 3 second pause & then the rest of the theatre burst out laughing. :oldrazz: )

*end nostalgia*

If only I had the money, to book an entire IMAX!!

I'll just go see it again on the last tuesday it's playing at like 12am. :oldrazz:

One thing I won't be doing, is the midnight release; I did that for the last Harry Potter. It was hot a hell, and and everyone cheered during the good parts. ... I refuse for that to be my experience in TDKR...

I was one of the lucky ones that got tickets to the select IMAX screenings 5 days ahead of the US release. That alone brought the right crowd to watch it and every time the Joker had a new scene you could hear all the gasps & 'that was SO awesome's & a lot of people cheered at the end. It was really unlike any other movie going experience I'd ever had. I still can't believe I got those tickets. I came home from a lousy day at work and got online and with the hugest stroke of luck, happened to be living near one of the last remaining available theaters. I took my cousin & needless to say, she worshiped me for a while after that haha.

The batpod ejection scene got a huge applause and a good deal of "wooting" during my showing.

Imagine what the crowd reactions will be if Bane does indeed break Batman's back.

God I hope The Dark Knight Rises is the best film of 2012 and I hope it wins All the major awards and beats out The Hobbit Because Christopher Nolan Deserves It. Im pissed The hobbit is coming out that year only because the academy loves time period films :/ I have no interest in The Hobbit or The Amazing Spiderman next year sorry to the fans of those series. What does everybody think about our chances next year? (Only Batman/Chris Nolan fans reply dont want, need, or have the time for haters/negativity this is a TDKR Positive message boards)

^ I am looking forward to Spidey, The Avengers, The Hobbit and Skyfall next year quite a bit, but I do believe TDKR will be the best of the lot.

I'll add Prometheus as well.

MOS in the 2012 groupings would've only added to it. Oh well. If the wait means a better film, I'm all for it.

Me too. I say take all the time you need. A successful Superman franchise can hopefully spark a Wonder Woman and Flash adaptation.

Lord of the rings series already had their oscar wins, I hope the academy does the right thing and vote Nolan.
