True...

Except in a non-hanging, hanging way.

As in, we never find out the "big thing" that she's supposed to do, but Cable makes sure she's somewhere safe and somewhere she can grow up without pressure. Thus, they're seperated and she passes from the line of sight for a while (comic wise). Maybe he even leaves her in the future and returns to the past.

There's just really so many possibilities here as to what can happen.

I am enjoying this Cable series but you know what the scenario of getting an adult Jean to the future will be. Cable will be cancelled between issue #25 to #30 showing him and baby Jean wandering the future. 2 months later in our time they both show up in Uncanny kicking off a major summer X-over:ss:

If you were new to writing comics and getting your first ongoing series, odds are you'd want something simple. Hulk smash, Captain America fights for the USA, Daredevil is a blind lawyer, Spider-Man can't get no satisfaction, etc. You probably wouldn't want "Cable's the mutant son of Cyclops and Jean Grey's clone who was sent to the future after getting infected with a techno-organic virus from Apocalypse and became the chosen one for the Clan Askani, a religion invented by his time-displaced half-sister from an alternate future...and he likes guns." Despite that, Duane Swierczynski has made Cable a streamlined, pulse-pounding thriller about a man and the baby he's sworn to protect no matter what. With the must-read first arc having just recently ended, we sat down with Swierczynski to ask him about where Cable and his newly acquired Immortal Iron Fist are heading.

You just got back from the X-Men summit and I read that you experienced the California earthquake during the meeting. What was that like?
SWIERCZYNSKI: It was odd! I wish I could say it was during a key moment when we actually had an earth-shattering idea but it was actually pretty mundane. All of a sudden I heard this noise, I honestly can't describe it, just something that sounded wrong. I turned to the window and turned back, and I was actually staring at [Executive Editor] Axel Alonso and the room just started shaking back and forth. Luckily half the room were Californians so they told us what was going on and said to not worry too much yet. I was a little freaked out. I kinda looked around waiting to see buildings collapsing and trees on fire and all that nonsense, but that's my imagination getting away from me.

I've actually been hearing about these X-Men summits for a while. Can you tell us what actually goes on at the summit?
SWIERCZYNSKI: This was my first one so I really can't speak to what's usual, but it's basically all the X-writers and editors sitting around just talking about what we're going to do over the next couple years. It was a fun time. Everyone in the room was super cool. It was my first time meeting a lot of the writers, like [Uncanny X-Men writer] Matt Fraction, [X-Force writers] Craig Kyle and Chris Yost and [X-Men: Legacy writer] Mike Carey. It was just cool seeing everybody face to face. Everyone was really into helping the X-Line and not just their own book, which you almost expect for everyone to do a land grab and look out for their own book by calling dibs on things. But it truly was a team effort to make the entire line work together. That was nice. The X-editors work really hard to make sure everyone is all on the same page. With Cable, at first it seemed like it was off on its own but it really is very much tied into the rest of the X-Universe and you'll see in the coming months how much that is and how much I've had to coordinate with the other guys.

Cable #6 comes out on August 6th and it's a bit bigger than normal. What was the reasoning behind giving it those extra pages?
SWIERCZYNSKI: Axel and I talked about it and it just felt like we needed a little more space to breathe in this one. I guess I felt nervous about making it seem forced or rushed, that is, in 22 pages. It covers a lot of ground, I think. It's kind of a look at what Cable left behind. Cyclops at home pondering what he did in his leap of faith when he let Cable go off with the first mutant baby born after M-Day. There is a lot of turf to cover.

You're also writing a lot of the X-Men for the first time with this issue. Was this a daunting task, writing characters like Emma Frost that have such a unique tone?
SWIERCZYNSKI: It was a dream come true. I mean, actually one of the first characters I wrote was Wolverine. I did a Wolverine one-shot that I wrote last year and it's out this September. He's a kindred spirit. I like him, his attitude. Scott and Emma, I read these guys as characters for so long that I feel like it wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. I'm used to books focusing on a single character or a couple characters, so this was kind of an ensemble.
Speaking of an ensemble, will we be seeing any of Cable's supporting cast from the first arc, like Sophie, in future issues?
SWIERCZYNSKI: I won't rule it out but I think we're closing the door. Cable's a love'em and leave'em kinda guy.

Is that going to be the pattern the book follows, with a new location and supporting cast every arc?
SWIERCZYNSKI: Actually no, it's funny. I think people think that based on the first arc, but not really. I mean, the second major arc which starts in October, the X-Universe is in it big time and it's not like he goes to a town, solves some problems, falls in love...it isn't that at all. The things that happen to him have devastating effects going forward. The big thing at the end of #5 was that Cable can't go backwards in time, he can only go forward. He'll figure out how to use that to his advantage. It won't be like a new woman in every port kind of thing for Cable. The most important thing is actually watching the baby grow up. When we check back in with her in the King-Size Cable Special in September she'll be a little older and then older still in October. I think there are some preview pages that have leaked out that reveal that Cable may even be married.

With Bishop, are we going to see his old X-Men teammates' reaction to recent events, like him shooting Professor X and going after the baby?
SWIERCZYNSKI: Oh yeah, that's going to be part of the second major arc. You'll also see the world through Bishop's eyes in the King-Size Cable Special too. He's a man on a mission. I think once you kind of fully understand...I know what's in his head, I haven't revealed it all yet. I think there's some sympathy for the devil here. I don't think he's truly a villain.

I'm sorta nervous about Deadpool's new series, after seeing some of the comments about Way. Was his previous Deadpool attempt in Wolverine's title really that bad?

I didn't think it was completely awful, but it wasn't up to par with the previous Deadpool goodness. The humor wasn't quite spot on like it needs to be.

He just didn't get Deadpool, imo. He doesn't get many characters, anyway.

I never like Deadpool anyway, he is way too much like a walking perverted, low-class joke.

Deadpool #1 will arrive in stores on Sept. 3 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Daniel Way, with art by Paco Medina and a cover by Clayton Crain.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"The Merc with a Mouth is back and ready to kick butt in his brand new on-going series! As the Skrulls continue their attack on Earth, the world is being torn upside down and only one person can save us in this new ongoing series, spinning out of Secret Invasion! He¹s Deadpool and he¹s crazier and deadlier than ever before!"

Deadpool #1 will be 32 pages and will cost $3.99

Don't like Way's Deadpool 'vision'. Other than that, the art looks pretty.

So's your face :cmad:

No wonder you like this character, Moron.

and like it or not, that's how I feel about him, I don't have any obligation to say nice words of Deadpool to make you feel good, you're not that important, in case your small brain can't figure that one out.

Are you really that offended by 'so your face', that you retort like that?

Please, you're only making yourself look daft by replying in such a manner. Take a chill pill once in a while, and take note that this is a message board full of people who have their own tastes.

Bless you.

Oh hello no. Get the blonde bimbo away from the baby

Emma holding baby Jean . . . words fail me. I don't think I've ever seen Emma drawn to look so ticked off. :woot:

And the issue was old news until you had to drag it up again. It's not exactly the best idea to insult someone--and eventually get banned, most likely--over a fictional character. If one really wants to have an argument with someone, it should be done privately. I'd rather not have a friend get banned because she was baited into firing back over a dead issue that shouldn't have developed in the first place.

Gee, apply that line to yourself before you say anything else, or are you really that offended by 'perverted low-class joke', that's my own tastes and who says you have to agree with me, or I with you for that matter? and chill pill? Get real, that's probably more like the way to deal with problems from where you live.

Bless yourself, obviously you need more of that.

Emma looks like she wants to drop that baby, can't say I'll want to stop her for doing that if the baby turns out to be Jean though.

Oh sweet Jebus. Get over it. Didn't you get the gist of my last response? I was merely poking fun at you, yet you overreact in such an over the top manner.

My comment was hardly insulting, yet you resort to a level of insulting which includes name calling, and you're humiliating yourself with a comeback which insinuates I need medication due to where I live.

Taste is subjective. You can like your crap, and I'll like mine.

Now, where's this kind of attitude when you first post your reply, as far as I'm concerned, you're the one who 'overreact it'.

I hope baby takes a crap on her and ruins her white outfit
