What would make you pick the book back up??
Oops. I missed this. Sorry!

What would make me pick New Excalibur back up? I don't know. A part of the reasoning behind my dropping it was needing to trim some titles because of how much I was paying each week. $20-30 being the norm for each week kinda blows.

I liked the first arc what with the dark X-Men, thought it was inventive and kind of rad, but then it just kinda dropped off and slowed down. Claremont had a chance to make something fresh, which he started with, but then he just started dropping back into the same syndrome I got tired of with his recent Uncanny run. So eh.

If you like dark you should've read last issue when Sage cut off Dark Cyclop's head off with a sword

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"'Battle for Eternity' continues! Albion's team has destroyed technology in England! The Excalibur team is on the ropes and Albion's forces are growing!"

New Excalibur #22 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.99.

And where the devil is Albion pulling this magic from? Is he just hopping across dimensions grabbing everyone who chose the sword? How would this have gone unnoticed by Otherworld and Roma? She was against Merlyn allowing Albion retaining his power in the first place - no way she then went on to let every sword chooser keep their power. And how is it possible for Brian not to know anything about it? Maybe when he was just a corps member, but certainly not after he was made ruler of Otherworld - there's just some menaces he would be made aware off to take care of.

And on Brian - where the hell was he this issue? The whole team is acting like its all no big deal and to just hang out in the trees till someone comes along to punch.

I only picked up the new series because of it having Captain Britain, but there has yet to be a single story that makes me think "Yeah, they're really turning this around and using everyone well". Yet I keep buying in the vague hope that next issue I'll be proven wrong that this is pants on a stick.

And on Brian - where the hell was he this issue?
He's giving his space in this title to Dazzler. I liked her but she's so overpowered that she's becoming a joke.

This last issue was ok, nothing really great but nothing really bad either. After I read it I had the impression that nothing happened on it. I hope it improves though

This title seriously needs a new writer and quick, it's got great art at the moment and some great characters in the book that are currently badly written. To be honest i dont think the team line up is that great and it needs to be refreshed soon.

I dropped this book shortly after CC came on, it was as bad as I thought it would be with him at the helm. It was the same with Exiles. Both good books until he came and bored me to tears. :( He needs to be retired.

I dont think its that he needs to be retired. The man is still good, but in a retro way far too retro for todays market. He's still writing in the overly descriptive way, as if he doesnt trust the artist to convey the script properly. The bit with Dazzler explaining whats real and whats not, and talking about keeping fighting... too much. He just needs to recognise that and move a little more towards the bendis style (though please God not too close - the man's "listen to me's" twice per speech bubble and other things really grates)

Check the Wizard World Chicago thread. ;)

You know what? I think I'm droppin this book after this arc. I'm tired of Claremont trying to shove Dazzler down my throat. Saving Juggs' ass, please

Exiles was the first book I've ever dropped, and NE may be the 2nd. Now what do they both have in common.....lol

CC should get off Exiles and NE and start a new book called "Betsy and Allison" :o

Well, Brian lost his wife but doesnt know how or where but doesnt seem to fussed about investigating it, his sister came back from the dead and saw him for two minutes before disappearing again btu he doesnt seem to bothered about finding her either, the connection to Otherworld is severed or missing but he doesnt seem to bothered about finding how or why, and the main antagonist in this arc is a Captain Britain reject who chose the sword and is pissed at Roma and Merlyn for not helping him overthrow the tyrants that warred on his Earth, one of his main allies is the woman who Brian turned into another sword weilding Cap Britain and is pissed at Brian - so Brian's just kicking back in the background while we learn nothing about Dazzler dying but we do learn a tonne of stuff about her making holograms like back in EoD and talking at great length about them during a battle

Haha, well when you put it like that. I just wasn't sure if he'd been captured or something, cuz he wasn't in the last issue at all.

God, wouldn't that be a treat :(
