Question: Are the 343 novels apart of continuity? Is 343 doing things differently?

What do you mean still? When Bungie paid for publishing, they weren't apart of the continuity.

What?

The Halo novels have been part of continuity for quite sometime. Bungie even mentioned the novels in some of the "Making of Reach" videos...

lol you know "apart" and "a part" mean different things right?

Anyway officially the novels were canon but they changed things up for Reach and they're rewriting the novel because of that. There are a lot of minor inconsistencies because of how many writers they have working on everything but nothing major.

Awesome!

Part of me also wonders if we'll see mention of Jun at all? I have a feeling he's going to play a part in Halo 4 somehow. There's a reason he survived.
I thought Jun was dead. Isn't MC supposed to be the last SPARTAN alive? Or just the last SPARTAN II alive?

How do you get the blue flames on the helmet in Reach?

nah, check out Ghosts of Onyx. I haven't read it yet (:o) but there are a handful of surviving Spartans.

I also think in Halsey's journal (came with Legendary edition) it says Jun gave his life to protect her so I'm pretty sure he's dead too.

anyways random suicides are awesome hahah.

No, It ends at the same time Noble Team arrive at the Latchkey Artifact. If you watched the Legendary Edition Commentary they (Bungie) state at the end that Jun was the only Noble team member that survived Reach and is one of the few "surviving Spartans." I wouldn't be surprised if he pops up in Halo 4 somehow... or maybe the Onyx sequel... or maybe both, lol.

hahah thanks for the link. I'm not up on the Halo lore, I was just quoting what I read. :o

Met an Inheritor last night, first time I've seen one online... He sucked... horribly.

Rank in Reach is not an indicator of skill I've found. It's an indicator of having waaayyyy too much free time

Yeah... i'm probably over my real skill limit atm.... now it's more of a time spent rather than skill that lets me rank up...

Case in point... the ****ing Bungie challenges.... stuck on the one about killing ten elite drop pods on 'The Long Night of Solace' I'm shooting the elites that come out the drop pods... and killing them... but they aren't counting...

What am i doing wrong?

lol during the space battle it's the pods that shoot out from under the Corvette. They might read as Banshees when you get close but they're the drop pods, I killed 3 at a time then restarted checkpoint instead of flying back and forth for the setup.

anyways I've seen a handful of Inheritors, and not one of them was wearing the haunted helmet. :o

Thanks.... though they mean't the drop pods at the start of the level.... not midway through the 2nd 3rd.....

*Sigh* Doesn't help i'm both tired & tipsey.....

More often then not this is very true. I've slowly ranked up and I'm not to bad online. Just got to General Grade 1 but I don't play anywhere near as much as I use to and I take breaks often now.

I don't pay attention to rank. I think I'm a colonel right now. Doesn't really matter to me. With Halo 3 and Halo 2 I looked at rank to see, because it actually reflected skill. Reach reflects time spent. Sure, people who play tons of Arena or Invasion or whatever get tons of credits and level up faster, but everyone reaches the same rank eventually. It's just a matter of time

Thanks... but when i blew up the pods coming out the corvette.... nothing happened.... so i've given up....

That link will be handy, So thanks :D

I don't mind the ranking system in Halo Reach... more so with the armor unlocks tied to it. I know it's tied more to "how much time spent" but there is some skill involved with credits earned and whatnot...

However, if someone is THAT high of a rank you'd think they would have learned SOME things along the way...
