What's the 2nd cover from? I remember some hate for Wonder woman's pose

It's the variant cover by David Finch, it's still the same story and everything, except the cover is a limited edition

I only flipped through the comic, but it seemed to me that everyone was kind of fixated on what everyone else could do. Was the issue as much people reciting lists of their powers as it seemed on my cursory glance?
Not really. I mean, Hal is all boisterous about what he's capable of, but no one else seems to care.

Why the hell does Superman look like he's 24 years old?

I like the Supes concept. And the Aquaman concept one is the look from DCU Online. I'm glad that they didn't go with the Green Lantern concept. I prefer with the white gloves. Also I'm guessing that the kryptonian armor is probably lined with lead so that kryptonite radiation doesn't hurt him as much.

*shrugs*

Just figured the lead VS k-rock would be some sort of reasoning. I honestly can't tell why else he'd have it. Who knows maybe they are away with the whole dumb bio-aura thing and he wears that because if he wore cloth or something he'd be practically naked by the end of the fight?

As far as I know, it's just Kryptonian armor that he found. Probably was sitting in a closet in the Fortress of Solitude when he finally got around to unpacking it.

The point I'm trying to get across is he probably didn't make it himself. He found it or it was packed in his rocket and it pretty much is what it is.

At least I hope so. Any other explanation would probably just be stupid.

Probably because he is. The DCnU versions of the characters are younger than their original incarnations.

Ahhh yes, this JLA story takes place 5 years prior to all the stories coming out in the fall, right?

On one hand, I understand the lack of Supes, cause I guess they're saving the first in depth look for Action Comics, but I kinda wish Supes was apart of this issue more.

My favorite moment was when Batman stole GL's ring right in front of him. I'm guessing that at some point, Johns will definetively show us Batman's importance to the LEague.

Since I don't really know any of Cyborg's history, even though Ive read some TT. The first thought I had when reading the pages with him talking to his Dad I thought it would be interesting chance to blend Milestone with DC by having Hardware be his father.

That seems unnecessary and stupid. :o
I don't see why it would really matter changing it. It's not like Vic's Dad would cause nerds to freak like taking Superman's underpants away. I think it would be kind of cool.

Why don't we make Steel his uncle while we're at it? Or John Stewart his cousin?

No. Just....no.

What I'm getting is that you think all black people are related. Racist. Why don't we also make Barry Hal's cousin? And Bruce can be Billy Batson's uncle. They're all white. :o

That's what I was thinking but I didn't wanna say it. :o

You mean that over the top characterization for dummies?

Hal Jordan being a young maverick style hero is exactly what he is early on. Johns is showing us how this young brash man becomes the serious hero he is today.

Through flashbacks Johns could have shown us its formation, which should have been shorter and without all those sitcom interactions.

And you want all that in 26 pages making it a depthless spandex fight with barely anything but touching the very bottom thus replacing character interaction with lols-action! Yeah this is what the audience of today wants. :whatever:

You mean Frank Miller right? Batman was a *****e and Hal was borderline ******ed while that scene was almost identical to the one we had in All Star Batman.

Batman and Hal we're both cocky, but it's Bruce isn't being jealous or hating the "incompetence" of other heroes that Miller's young Batman saw on them. Batman sneaking the ring out was like the cup change from RIP

I'd love to hear what those characters are based on JL#1. There's more, better handled, subtler, and more correct characterization in one page of Inc than there in this whole book.

Oh sure lets see this magical page of yours.

why would the Justice League #1 release first before anything else??? I would think the others will be released, and we see the new costumes, and they we see all of them in the Justice League comic.

It's like me seeing what Superman will look like before I pick up Superman #1

I thought the characterization was over the top to make sure that new readers get it.

You re acting as if they didnt go for spectacle with all those spreads and actions scenes. As it is i dont see an engaging plot, i dont see any engaging characters, or interactions. People are only going to buy #2 because its Johns and because its DC's flagship. New readers will buy it because they've never seen S vs B before and it sounds awesome to them.

I dont want action, i want to see the League in its first days with everyone getting to know each other, their conflicts, friendships, etc. I dont need Batman to be used as a cash cow, fighting each hero and then recruiting them, going from one cliche to the next (bickers with Hal, fights with Superman, etc) and all this sitcom stuff.

How i would have done it:
The villain's thugs do evil stuff in every city. Some hero finds out and asks the hero of each city for help. They join forces and then we have all the interpersonal relationships. Personally i would have used some villain in Aquaman's or Diana's gallery, promoting their books which seem to really need it. Furthermore i could see them asking the others for help, as opposed to everyone else who at this point in their career are total, utter *****ebags.

Alternatively, that hero could have been Hal. Being part of a corps he would have been more open to a team up with others. Since these are the early days Hal isnt the greatest GL yet and he doesnt have many friends in the corps or the guardians' total attention. If nobody cared enough for him and his planet he would need to get help elsewhere. See where i'm going with this?

Forgive my arrogance but i think that beats "the villain is alien and superman is a alien, lets beat him up and ask him". "Sure, i am batman and i have plans for everybody."

Bruce was too much of a *****e. He was too vocal about everything, too open about his feelings and plans. I think he should have been much more silent and distrustful, not contemptuous of everything and everyone. I would expect someone like Bruce Wayne to be more polite and subtle, even if he is the goddamn Batman.

As for Hal, he was portrayed as a braindead rookie whose ring (the greatest weapon in the universe) has no failsafe against someone pulling it off. Mind you, Bruce is just a mere man. Moreover, Hal should have been the cocky jock we know and love (?), but he's never been brain damaged or this naive. "Note to self Batman: GL can handle anything."

Who talks like that? Is English not Johns native language?

You have to admit that Morrison is much subtler on his characterizations, sometimes you need to read between the lines, and he's always on point. Like i explained above, i think Johns missed the mark with both Bruce and Hal.

While Johns has the best intentions, he's not that great when it comes to characterizations and his stories are usually devoid of any message or moral compass. Some people called heroes punch other people called villains in the face harder and they win. I think DC should have gotten Dini or Rucka or someone like that to write this book. I know its the main book and Johns is their superstar writer who will sell a million copies, but this JL run is gonna be lackluster.
