Well one thing is for sure; the trailer did more for me as a Superman fan than this one did.lol

Man, what a huge pile of excrement & disappointment. I remember going into this fired up, especially after the trailer and marketing tools. Hearing the John Williams theme in the beginning had me completely MARKING OUT. The anticipation of the return of Superman had me busting.
Then, the rest of the movie happened. I remember in the middle of the movie, I was so bored and tapping my foot waiting for it to be over needing to pretend I was into it because everyone around me knew how excited I was for this adaption.
I knew it and tried talking myself out of it. I walked out EXTREMELY disappointed. I hated the entire cast, top to bottom.
The story was laughable. Routh looked like a kid turned ken-doll trying to impersonate a legend.
The spit-curl and perfectly combed hair made my stomach hurt. Some good action scenes but even that was outdone with terrible-ness from the corny film.
Even months later, I rented it, bought it and it was even worse than the first time.
The movie seemed out of its element. A mockery. Not of its own. Lacked charisma. Til this day, I see SR merchandise and I walk the other way.
So, tonight, I'm going to watch Superman Returns and smile at every embarrassingly bumbling moment the film produced because without them, I would have NEVER witnessed the greatness of today's trailer and the jaw-dropping images of Henry Cavill in the suite. THAT is my Superman I've longed for way before SR and I actually got it!
I just ranted and it felt good. I can now put SR behind me for good. I will now view it as an appreciative effort and respect it because its a lore in Superman history, but that's where it will end and where a new franchise of excitement begins!
