Official: Prince of Persia Next-Gen Thread

I thought the story was a bit meh at first but it gets much better as you play the game. I didnt like how it started off but midway through theres a twist regarding Elika that makes things make alot more sense. Im digigng it now and Im liking how the relationship between her and the Prince progresses. The dialogue can be cheesy, but theres some good stuff thrown in there. I like the conversation interaction and how Ubisoft incorporated it. You learn alot of backstory between the characters, environment and plot through it and and was good choice to go this route rather then relying on reading texts or numerous cutscenes explaining them.

I got to the twist a couple nights ago. Very much an "ooooooh, that's how it works" moment. Like I said before, the dialogue is like half-chuckle-worthy, half-cringe-worthy. If you tune out the bad, it's quite enjoyable.

Well, just finished the game. Story was definitely the weakest link here. It wasn't bad, but it's got a long way to go to live up to the SoT story. Not to mention,
What the hell's up with the ending? You go through all that **** just to put yourself right back to square one? It seems a bit cheap, but I guess you can't exactly have a trilogy when you kill off the big baddie in the first can you?

I'm winding down on it. I've beaten the Hunter and I'm about to start on the Alchemist when I get home tonight.

how many hours have you guys put into it?

If it's this short, I might return my copy. I don't care enough about the extra stuff to pay $57 for it.

There's an achievement for beating it in under 12 hours, so that's probably about how long the game is. Not too bad. If you put the effort into collecting all the light seeds and going through all the dialogue with Elika, it'll probably take 12 to 15 hours, I'd guess.

I just beat it and got the trophy for beating it in under 12 hours, so its definetly under there. But theres alot more to do as far as exploring and getting all the light seeds. I stopped doing that stuff once I had the required amount to beat the game. Im gonna go back now for them as well as the trophy where Elika saves you less than 100 times. Thats gonna be tough bc I fell alot in the game

I just beat the game right now. Is there only one ending? I couldnt get to those trees when I got to the tree of life..was that supposed to happen?

yeah its supposed to happen and yep only 1 ending. I actually didnt mind the ending

When I got to the end and Elika defeated Ahriman, I was thinking that they are going to need a new gimmick/theme since there's no longer any corruption to heal, but now that its released, that sets the stage for the new game with similiar gameplay that this reboot has going for it. Will be interesting to see what story they come up with for the next one bc it has to end eventually.

Kinda funny how this prince made his selfish mistake at the end of the game where as the sands of time prince made his mistake in the beginning of the first game. I'm assuming this new prince will have to redeem himself as well.

Eleka uses her life to restore the tree that keeps Ahriman contained. The prince cuts down all of the trees the same way that Eleka's father did....He revives Eleka, while also Letting Ahriman loose upon the entire world.

But why was Ahriman set loose so easily the second time? Why didn't the prince become corrupted like Elika's father? Hopefully these are all things they'll go into more detail about in the sequel(s).

who says he wasnt? When he did that, I thought, oh boy, we are going to get another "Warrior Within" sequel

Oh Prince, you never tell a woman she's heavier than she looks...lol.

Have 846 light seeds. Only 145 more to go

True, but hopefully they learned their lesson with Warrior Within since it was definitely hailed as the worst in the series.

God, I hated Warrior Within. I remember I went up a way I wasn't supposed to. I couldn't get back without dying so I had to restart all over again.

my only other theory for [blackout]why he didn't appear to be corrupted at the end is that earlier in the game when he was corrupted, Elika was able to heal him and purge him of that corruption. Maybe that gave him some sort of immunity to it. Im hoping that is the case bc I really dont want to see him fight his dark side in the sequel[/blackout]

Rented this yesterday and have beaten the Warrior and Concubine. I must say I'm kinda disappointed, mainly because this was so hyped up. It's got great graphics after you heal lands, but the combat system is a little boring and far too easy. The conversation option is pretty amazing though, I love the back and forth butting heads. I like the attitude of this prince, not as whiney as SoT.

I think we're going to see the same thing happen with the franchise again.
The first thing I thought of when I saw that happen was when
The SoT prince stabbed his dagger into the hour glass.I think their going to go with "the redemption" storyline again.

I don't mind. As long as the story keeps light hearted elements. I just hope they add challenge into the sequel, and give us more control over the platforming....everything felt like someone was holding my hand. So much so that I actually messed up many times.

Does anyone else really dislike the flying power? There are too many effects going on as your flying, it's really hard to see what's going on. There's already an effect on Elika and the Prince, I don't see why they added the extra effects around the edges of the screen. The other 3 powers don't distort your view in anyway.

What I didnt understand is that basically the Red Power and the Blue Power essentially do the same exact thing, which is just transport you to another circle...one looks like a super jump while the other looks like some sort of magnetic force pulling them...couldn't they have thought of something else?

Also, did any of you guys get that last tree next to the Tree of Life? It looks accessible, but I tried various positions but couldnt reach it. If you weren't supposed to get it, [BLACKOUT]does that mean that there is still a little 'hope' for Ormazd after Ahriman is freed?[/BLACKOUT]

Also, I didnt really understand the story that much. [BLACKOUT] From what I think I know..the father lost the wife, sacrificed his daughter to get the wife? If that's the case, where's the wife? 2ndly, the prince doesn't really reveal too much about himself other than that his parents were killed and he's a loner who lost his donkey. In the art gallery there is a drawing of Elika stalking the Prince and it almost looks like she got rid of the Gold without him noticing b/c shes standing next to it. Did Elika have something to do with prince helping him?[/BLACKOUT]

Also, I have the extra DVD with the Soundtrack on it. Anybody know how to extract it?
