Official: Prince of Persia Next-Gen Thread

Anyone realize that it got a $20 price drop at Gamestop after like 2 weeks out? Man that was fast

I don't think this has sold well. Probably because it's too easy and not a real PoP game.

I'm going to keep mine only because I saved a good amount of money on some games in the past.

probably one that features a prince and is actually set in Persia? :D

Haha, ill take it.

Im only like 20 min into this game so far, but im guessing theres no relation to the last few games?

I think thats fine tho. I mean that was last gen, this game is this gen. Move on, give us a new setting, characters etc.

Theres only one small reference to the first game that you should have caught in the first 5 minutes. Other tahn that, theres no relation to the last trilogy

There may be connections. We still don't know a hell of a lot about the not-prince, so he could be the SoT prince's brother or cousin or something for all we know. That sounds terrible even as I type it, but who knows?

I traded in all of my 360 games except this one to get money for my brother-in-law's presents. I still want to get all the achievements for this.

Well damn, i missed it then. Maybe its cuz i havent played Sands of Time since it was released?

I'm pretty sure it's just the name of the "Prince's" donkey.
yeah thats what I was talking about. If you didnt know that this was a completely new storyline and such, the developers kind of made it sound as if things were going in a different direction, until you found out the price was talking about a donkey. BTW, ProjectPat2280 , it was that he was
looking for Farah. That was the name of one of the main female leads in SoT. Turns out this Farah wasnt a woman, but his donkey instead

Did you actually PLAY the game?
The Concubine calls him the Prince, because he was one early in life, before his parents abandoned him.
Technically, the game does take place in Persia, just a very fantastical version. The game draws from the religion of ancient Persia: Zoroastrianism.
My guess is the next game will be much darker, like the second game was for the Sands of Time trilogy.

Yea, i thought i knew the name, but just didnt really think much of it at the time.

yeah you're right. I didnt have a problem with the loose interpretation of him as a prince and the setting. It carries over similiar themes as the previous game, mainly the gameplay involving the platforming, exploration and storytelling. Im glad they went in a different direction here and it worked. Obviously theres room for improvement and we can only hope that gets corrected in the sequel or in some DLC.

Im a little over half way through the game and i think its really fun. Love the visual style to it. The platforming is also really fun. The combat could be a little better, but it works.

I like it, The combat sucks, it looks great, but you don't have a lot of control, I hate that you cant actually die and like many others have previously stated, the game is too easy, I do enjoy the humor and the art style. Am I the only one getting an Ico/ Shadow of the Colossus vibe from it?

Eh the "not dying" part doesnt bother me, as its really no different than a check point system and instead of having to reload every checkpoint every time i miss a jump, this system is alot less frustrating. I agree that at points it feels as tho you dont have much control. I prefer a game to be on the easy side vs the hard side. Nothing bugs me more than having that moment in a game where you have to try and retry a section multiple times, that just gets annoying. I enjoy the game, but if this is the start of a new trilogy, id have to say that Sands of Time was a much better start.

I had issues with the not dying at first but I think they put that in there bc this has potential to be a very frustrating game. My first playthrough, I kept falling ALOT and that would have been so annoying to have to constantly load and restart. So I didnt have a problem with that. I do wish you could die in combat though bc all the fights were a joke, knowing there wouldnt be any reprecusions at all.

Oh and I totally got the Ico vibe. From the unique art style, to having a female partner, to the shadow creatures appearing, this really could have been a sequel to that series.

I would've been indescribably disappointed if this were a sequel to Ico. It lacks all of the stylistic touches that made Ico such a unique experience. It's a good game, but it's not an Ico-level game.

Let's be fair though: there are VERY few Ico-level games out there.
