Yes. Barely any of the Dwarves have any lines. I only recall Fili, Kili, Dwalin, Balin, and Thorin have any memorable lines.

I cant believe Bofur got the shaft too. Nor can I believe that in the film that is supposed to wrap up this great adventure and give it closure Jackson couldnt even give us a scene of the dwarves telling Bilbo goodbye. After trekking through danger and wilderness and war they dont even say goodbye or have words. I understand Bomber and Bofur having no lines but I always got the impression that Bofur was fond of Bilbo and he believed Bilbo belonged before anyone else gave him a chance so for him to not share words with Bilbo at the end just seems...well it doesnt make sense. Jackson could have allowed 5-10 more minutes of runtime for proper goodbyes.

Bilbo says goodbye to all of the dwarves. Its not like they just get dropped out of the film without a goodybye. There just aren't little single goodbye scenes for the dwarves. And Bofur does get a little moment with Bilbo, [BLACKOUT]where he tells Bilbo to go after Thorin almost tosses him off the ledge. You can tell by their brief interaction that they have a connection.[/BLACKOUT]

Got to make sure we get enough time with Legolas doing Super Mario Bros. block jumps.

Maybe once the Extended Edition for this film comes out, someone with enough professional skills can perhaps create an edit where we get rid of all of the unneeded stuff and comprise everything into a 2 Hour 45+ Minutes film.

I know I'm in the minority here when I say this, the more of middle earth the better! I know people who wish the Lord of the Rings movies were longer. So many moments were not incorporated into the LOTR's films that were in the books. and so much was added in that was not. With The Hobbit films we got the appendices, which in my opinion has made the films better story wise!

Here's a cut down version of the first two Hobbit films into one that is more faithful to the book. BTW it doesn't have the extended edition scenes from the DOS. I spoke to them on Reddit and they are planning to do all three films as one once the extended edition of the BOFA has been made available. The editor is made famous from his Phantom Edit of Star Wars Episode 1.

Found some new Extended Edition scenes confirmed by Boyens. One of them is a coronation.

Boyens has already confirmed some parts for the EE:

More Beorn - both human and bear form (to a Swedish newspaper)

More about the three Elven rings and the One Ring (Empire podcast)

The coronation of Dain, including a 'lovely' scene with Bilbo (Empire podcast)

Bombur will get a line (Empire podcast)

Frick Yeah!

More stuff cut from the theatrical cut:

Gandalf's "How shall this day end?!" line

Bilbo's "When faced with death, what can anyone do?" line

Gandalf's "This was the last move in a master plan, a plan long in the making" line

Thorin's "Everything I did, I did for them" line

Are you kidding me about the "How shall this day end!?" being cut out. I found that to be one of the most alluring things from all the t.v spots. A real wtf kind of decision to cut that out.

So far, both movies were fine and I enjoyed the added stuff from the Appendices since they did happen, but I would've definitely removed the G** damn barrel chase. It wasn't there in the books, it doesn't need to be there. Cringeworthy scene.

I actually just completed my own edit of the first two films together. I am usually against stuff like this but being a bit of an editor and director I thought I'd give it a shot. I actually quite like how the first film plays out, it manages to stay focused on Bilbo throughout and all the unneeded stuff is gone. It's just when the second film begins the focus strays somewhat mid-way through Smaug towards Thorin more but I did my best to keep it focused on Bilbo. Going to render it through the night and watch it tomorrow all the way through to see how it turned out. Turned out to be roughly just over 3 hours long (amazing to think that the first film alone was almost that length).

I'm not a huge fan of these films at all, and cutting out the unnecessary scenes does help a great deal, but there are still a number of problems that remain with the films regardless of better pacing and lack of unnecessary **** that Jackson put into the films.

Yeah apparently it's cut. At least that's what a viewer on Blu-ray.com is saying. If we could get someone here has seen the film to confirm the cut that'd be appreciated.

So basically watching the theatrical cut is basically pointless.

It's not in the film.

Just got back from the cinema. I am not sure what movie some of you have seen but it's not the movie I saw.

The movie i saw was the Third best in the entire SAGA next to Fellowship and Unexpected Journey.

This movie had lots of heart!

Over half of a jam packed audience clapped at the end of the film when the credits started rolling.

Debbie downers be GONE!

This was a fitting end to the HOBBIT and a good start to the RING

BRAVO Peter Jackson, he got his MOJO back!

I think my TWO BIGGEST issues with the whole Hobbit Trilogy is the fact that Peter Jackson went "Jar Jar Binks" on himself by abandoning practical effects/make-up, that was one of the many highlights of the original LOTR trilogy, and went with totally noticeable (and sometimes glaring) CGI on these films; along with adding in things that shouldn't (imho) have been in these films to begin with while cutting out things that shouldn't have been cut out of the films at all.

I want to see this in theaters but my local carmike doesn't have a single 2D showing for less than $10. I rarely pay more than $5.75 thanks to their bargain time, but they aren't showing the film in 2D during the bargain times. And I can no longer watch 3D thanks to a bad eye. $10 isn't a lot of money but once I factor in gas and the 20 mile drive it's just more than I want to invest in this butchered cut. Needless to say Ill be really really shocked if I walk out of the film pleased. My expectations are buried beneath the bottom of the barrel.

Is there any confirmation that the
funeral scene will be in next year's EE?

I know it seems obvious but I'm still waiting to see Faramir's healing scene and wedding, which were filmed for RotK and still not included in any of the EEs of that movie.

I can see PJ holding back the funeral scene for future EE editions, because he knows fans really want to see it and will pay to do so no matter how long they have to wait.

I doubt he'd pull that kind of stunt. It's just not really how he operates. Even with his excessive (I have no clue why I said judicious.) cutting in this theatrical cut it appears to me that it was all for a smaller runtime (bare essentials only) than any reason like the one you stated. Just based on his interviews and onset stories from colleagues and set visitors he doesn't seem to be the type to cut or withhold stuff strictly for malicious reasons. Considering that we have confirmation that it was filmed, and considering that the EE is supposed to be 30-40 minutes longer and considering the coronarion is being put back in the EE I think it's a safe bet that Jackson will put this other scene back in the EE that's coming out next year.

I am seeing film this weekend and thing is i agree Peter Jackson deserves some critism

This should have remainded 2 films.

Unlike some I think it was good to invole white council and neomancer.

Big fail was adding Taurel to film anything with her was unnecsary

It's one thing to add Legolas to when dwarves get captured and taking part in battle of 5 armys but he added him too much

I just realized after what Marvolo said that it's true Bofur doesn't even really exist in the film lol. It's just a Thorin, Kili and Fili show with a hint of Dwalin and Balin.

For all the people who think the Hobbit Trilogy should've remained a duology, I got the impression, based on the DoS EE, that PJ and Co. didn't actually have to film all that much 'additional' material in order to turn 2 films into 3.
