Almost $500m already, great numbers.

The set comes with 15 discs. Each movie is split across two blu-rays. In addition to the three films you get all of the special features that appear on the DVD extended sets, and you get filmmaker Costa Botes' 3+ hour behind-the-scenes documentary, previously only vailable as part of a Limited Edition DVD release.

A review of the release can be found here.

Where is this located in them? I haven't heard of this.

So now that we've seen the "Hobbit" Trilogy come to a close, who would you guys say is your favorite Hobbit Protagonist?

The Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies is cleaning up at the box office!

With the Christmas shopping and festivities finished, moviegoers returned to Middle Earth this weekend to put THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES at the top of the box office with an estimated $41.4 million!

Filmmaker Peter Jackson's second Tolkien trilogy-topper was down just 24% from its opening last weekend, and has crossed $500 million worldwide (just over halfway to the global finishes of the first two HOBBIT movies).

In comparison, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King fell 30 percent to $50.6 million on the exact same weekend back in 2003. This is also the biggest second weekend yet for the Hobbit trilogy.

Saw it yesterday, loved it, wish we could get a film just about the elves, just give it to me.

Was a strong hold. It's $13m ahead of where FotR was at this point.

Bilbo. Although he didn't have it as tough as the other 2.

Bilbo but Frodo and Sam has a much more difficult task placed on them.

Sam, he was almost too naive and too genre savvy at once.

Bilbo. Martin Freeman was the best part about these films, just a shame he didn't get good enough films for his talents.

I'm glad it's keeping up. I can at least respect the intelligence in the monetary value of these films in what its made for Jackson and co. Similar to Lucasfilm, the profits will only fund future projects. The first film already made their whole budget back and then some so the rest is just pure profit which is just incredible to think about.

1. Sam
2. Bilbo
3. Frodo ( though to be fair, he didn't have a ton of time to just be himself, without an incredibly huge burden )

You know, I wish they gave a proper goodbye to the other dwarves. I would have loved to have seen little segments or montage of their eventual fates. Would have been a charming thing. Some good, and some sad. Imagine a couple shots of Balin and his fellow dwarves trying to block off the orcs in The Chamber of Records before he is killed and where the Fellowship find him in the first film. Seeing Balin's last battle worn moments bracing himself as the orcs are trying to barge their way and and you hear the drums.

But that would have been a really sad note to end a movie on, as much as I'd love to see that. The ending was kinda sad, but it was bittersweet.

Shhhh, don't tell that to haters, it's a flop in their eyes.

Really, I saw this back on Friday, and I want to see it again. The movie sailed pretty quickly for it's length. I got a little twitchy in my seat during the Gandalf/Elrond/Gladriel standoff, but that's just because I'm too interested in those characters, but I know others do love the characters, so I didn't mind. Hey, I liked Kili and Tauriel, and Thranduil was freaking awesome, so I'm glad their presence was beefed up despite the haters
(although, I might have liked it more if Kili and Fili died defending their uncle, and just not outright murdered)

Yeesh, it would be a toss up between Bilbo, and I know you don't have him here, but Merry. Him riding head on into battle with Eeowyn was no easy feat for him.

Extended edition I feel will bring these all in.

Regarding Bilbo, particularly Martin Freeman's version, does anyone else have some trouble at times believing that Martin Freeman's Bilbo will grow into the older version that we've seen in LOTR films?

I can't think of many mannerisms or speech patterns shared between the two portrayals that really linked the two versions together.

I have a easier time believing that James McAvoy's Charles will grow into Patrick Stewart's Professor X.

There's what? 60 years between Hobbit and Fellowship? A lot can happen in that time.

I think this is exactly right. Such a shame.

 I never suggested the movie would be a flop, just that it is of poor quality. One does not affect the other.
