Emotions are not off limits in creative fields, in fact they are encouraged. Even the "outrageous" ones. We aren't talking about the money men here or working a 9-5 in an office or at a fast food restaurant. You indulge creative. This is no different then the actors indulging Jackson.

You keep on attempting to justify his behavior, champ. No one encouraged McKellen to lash out that day, his emotions took control and he did that himself. Actors don't indulge Jackson to act a certain way, he just has a method of directing. What McKellen did was new for him(at least to me, since I've never heard of him doing that before), and it isn't a method of acting. That was pure lash out mode. It really is simple. Even the article which explains it mentions that he threw a tantrum.

Duh. That is the whole point. That is what you do. What do you think they are doing? That is the whole point of acting and well all creative work. You are baring yourself and losing yourself in emotions. Why do you think so many of the great writers, actors, artist, musicians, etc. were/are not considered "normal"? Why do you think there are so many stories of emotional turmoil? Because these are emotionally charged situations.

And yes, they indulge Jackson. Because like any good actor/director relationship it is give and take. You think when an actor nails a take and then they are told by the director they want something completely different that isn't indulging them?

Hulk always thought Lord of the Rings was beginning. Everything Hulk knew was lie.

Acting does not exclusively require base emotions, it also requires logic as well. The best actors are those that are sensitive, however, there are times when you have to be professional(such as expressing your distaste to the director about how a scene is filmed) and times when you have to let your emotions flow(such as filming a movie and getting into a role). How McKellen handled himself, at that moment, was unprofessional and could have been done more discreetly. I now find it hilarious that there was a microphone that only added to the problem, making him so loud that the entire studio heard him crying and complaining.

If he were to privately discuss the filming methods with Jackson, then this outburst would not have occurred and the studio wouldn't have been alarmed to his behavior.

Oh, look at us, back-and-forthing again. That's my cue. :oldrazz:

Unless anyone else feels like sharing their opinion on the subject.

I am going to go with you probably not having had many collaborations in a creative environment.

You go right with that assumption. Makes no difference to me, since the back-and-forth is over. :cwink:

As you keep posting in respond. :funny:

I'm gonna guess you meant response. You don't understand. Your assumption was that I had never had any collaborations in a creative environment, and instead of fighting your assumption I welcomed you to think what you wanted about me. No matter how mislead. :cwink:

Also, I said that I was done back-and-forthing with you on the McKellen subject. Last time I checked, McKellen wasn't at all mentioned in your post.

If you're going to try to be a smartass, at least do a better job at it, champ. :word:

:funny:

Gold. More Gold then under the Lonely Mountain.

Just go back into your hobbit hole.

Your need for the last word is most telling. More telling then the glow of Sting.

Is it? It's funny how you had to say that. Almost as if you wanted... *gasp* the last word!

I'm just being a smartass, and having fun with it. Don't be mad. You're getting hotter than Smaug's flames.

I'll have the last word over everyone....drop the pettyness and move on.

Good ol Gandalf to save the thread.

Wow, there's lots of good stuff there. Love the Wargs, the female dwarves, and I like how the Goblin sorta look like naked-mole rats.

But then I saw this...

Where's my fuuuuu guy pic.

No seriously, wtf. How the heck did they end up transforming them in the Seven Dwarves when they started out with these awesome concepts? Wtf again.
Needless to say, the concept art of the dwarves has left me thoroughly depressed.

In regards to the concept art, all I can say to Peter Jackson is this:

:facepalm::facepalm:

WTF!!! The concept was perfect! What happened!?

I really wish I hadn't seen it, because now I'm just going to be thinking of what could have been. The concept is more in line with what I wold expect from the Peter who gave us LOTR. Its intricate and heavily detailed Nordic designs. AND the concept looks like LOTR Dwarves as Tolkien describes them.
