Man, my intense feeling of disappoinment in the Iron-Man 6 suit just came flooding over me again.

Yeah. I was expecting some really off the wall armor. But Tony's drunk driving made it a lot better.

I was all ready for an Ultimate-Hulkbuster type suit. Instead, we get Tony's drunk ass behind the wheel of the Enterprise.

Seemed like a hell of a lot of overkill didnt it. If anything is going to freak out the rest of the world more than the Ultimates showing up in their country to keep the order, its gotta be a freakin space station descending over a city and pin point shooting the crap out of whatever it wants, then moving onto the next city without a care in the world - frightening stuff

The politics and real world feel are INTEGRAL to the title - why on earth read this of all books if you don't want that? Seems pretty stupid.


And if you don't want to debate the politics- no one's making you. But if you can't play with the big boys, go back to the playground.

I read the books for the real world feel but I couldn't care less about politics. Politics are for other older people to care about, I'm only 20 why should I care about politics? If we all die we all die, life goes on till then.

Thats ignorant to the max. Im only 19 and I care a lot about poilitcs and everyone should, because you have all these old men making life or death decisions everyday that will affect your way of life, so it should matter to everyone. And that real world feel to ultimates involves politics.

I can't stop them making the life or death decisions and it doesn't matter who's in charge since the cabinet will, in the end, make the same life or death decisions who ever "runs" the country. The "main man" only has so much power the cabinet as a group are really in charge.

Does anyone think we're going to see a bit more interraction between Cap and Hawkeye after all this? I mean, Cap was arrested for Hawkeye's family's murder (not that Hawk knows that yet I suspect), so there might be some dialogue there to sort out

Exactly. People don't understand that as much as politicians can suck, in the west especially, it's much, much better to have a choice than have a dictator thrust upon us, ala north korea or cuba.

We disagree on ideology and viewpoints sometimes DS, but on that, we totally agree on. Apathy is understandable, but incredibly dangerous.

If more people voted first time round, we probably never would have gone to iraq, and that applies to both uk and the us, a decision thats cost thousands of lives on both sides and went against the wishes of most of the civillian population.

By the way. Ive read several of the ultimate titles and it is nice to see politics in comics. Why does it have to be just right wing politics though?

Don`t even try to kid yourself that it isn`t. Cap and falcon with machine guns. Cap leading troops in middle east conflicts. Nick fury,SHIELD and the US government in almost direct control of all the superheroes.

I bet if nick fury told the ultimates to round up canadians for sterilisation, cap and co would be off to do their duty while reed richards would be working out how the castrate the canucks quicker. If you don`t believe that everyone in the ultimates seems a bit off the deep end think back to the "wonderful" end quote of ultimate extinction.

He is trying to be satirical, and the beauty is you can read it either way...as a daming verdict of current world politics and the bush administration, or take no prisoners bad ass super heroes.

But believe me, if you look beyond the obvious, it's supposed to be a left wing satirical view of world events.

JQ and Co. knew Lost was Lindelof's priority before he started the series.

It was just Marvel rushing to get the project out so it would run the same time as Ultimates.They obviously failed at that,but I bet people are still going to buy it to see what happened during Hulk's journey.

I suppose. It just gets me steamed because some idiots see ultimates and say "hey cap should be like ult cap. more patriotic. he should go and huint down all the terrorists and kill em and their families". A lot of the time he`s like a right wing comics fan`s wet dream.

Also it does seem like only thor is left wing. And having the only one to be left wing is a norse god kind of ridicules the idea of fairness and democracy. It makes it seem like fairness and left wing views belong with fairies and hobbits.

Oh yeah also the whole "in the ultimate universe we kill characters" thing is getting old and really is started to ruin the characters. Can they end a fight without someone dying. The beat gah-lak-tus and machine gun a load of clones. They beat the liberators and murder about seven of the main villains.
Surely there must be ways of winning fights without murder. Are we really trying to tell kids and the like "The only way to win, whether it is a basketball game, debate or scrap is to rip the guys arms off and stab him through the torso with his own sword!" Whatever happened to the moral high ground. Its like 80s action movies all over again.

In the end its like starship troopers. That was a dig at imperialism and american foreign policy as well. Except noone realized it was being satirical. The thing i`m worried about is that marvel will look at the ultimate sales figures and turn the original marvel universe into "the ultimate-universe-minus-the-left-wing-satirical-slant". You know, they will have the regular avengers machine gunning terrorists but without the tongue in cheek so that they are saying that the heroic thing to do IS to murder muslims.

Listen, I'm right wing. I happen to think Cap And Nick Fury were right to disarm that rogue nation of it's nukes. The nation was hostile to america, so it was in nick fury and america's best interest they not have nukes.



No right wing person (or sane ones) think it's right or heroic to kill muslims, either. I actually dislike Bush, and was against the Iraq war from the start, but I am right wing on many issues.

And plus, the liberators brought their deaths on themselves. Sorry to say it, but I would have been upset had all of them lived (thats right I believe in the death penalty, stone me now). In a war, you have to do whatever it takes to win. Right now too many people listen to the media and care about their portrayl, which is probably why iraq is such a mess. You can't be PC about war. You can't give a crap abouat the media. I mean look at world war 2, america dropped an atom bomb that effectivly ended the war. It wasnt nice, it was horrible, but it probably had to be done. You see my point?

The difference is, in the comics, we definitly knew that nation had nukes, and plus, they have superhumans who are more powerful in many ways than nukes. In real life, I was against the US disarming Iraq for a few reasons. First, obviously we don't have superhumans to send in . But also because who ever really believed he had nukes or any weapons of mass destruction? Not only that, but as horrible as he was, saddam hadn't shown particular hostility to the west, and was no threat to us.

The point is, just because as a right winger I see ultimate cap as a kick ass guy with strong morals who will do whatever it is to keep his nation safe does not mean I support Iraq or Bush. I think Millar, and left wingers in general,, have tried to demonise right wingers in general since Bush came to power, without realising many of us dislike him and his policies anyway.
