Hey I was just wondering for someone that has just been collecting a little bit over a year and mainly on x-titles is Ultimates worth picking up? Because from what I have heard its pretty good.

Hell yes the Ultimates is worth picking up. There is something in there for everyone: You can read it as a satire over american foreign politics, you can read it and go "**** yeah, Captain America is going to go Clint Eastwood/John Wayne on your asses" when he goes face to face with (the people the captain thinks are)the bad guys or you can read it as a comic with plenty of shades of grey and ask yourself are the good guys really the good guys?

Besides that, there is also good storylines, strong dialogue and excellent artwork.

Ultimates tops UXM by miles on end,no matter who was writing it.

Well I think UXM was on par with Ultimates up until the end of the Magnetic North arc but that's just me. Ultimates has improved since v1 but UXM has gotten worse as time progresses.

IMHO nothing Marvel has ever attempted in the past 16 years is on par with the intensity and crazyness of Millar's Ultimates.

Maybe the first 6 issues of UXM were close,but nothing after that.Not surprising considering Millar blew his load in the first 6 issues.

WOW! see thats why i love this book,each time i re-read it somthing new pops up,i didnt notice,but not everyones there,i wonder if some died,son of satan would have had formal training but still he may have bit the dust.Still though,no reserves.I dunno why I like the four seasons and everyone else from that annual so much.The gaint men were the first to go but i didnt see anyone else withum.I dont think abom had a healing factor,his arms should have healed a little before he died.

that is true,the ultimate universe is going to be alot more hostile then the 616,every country banding togeather to take out america,its going to be grim for awhile.Hopefully people take comfort in the fact that the ultimates got everything taken care of.Some will band togeather and and protest them claiming if america didnt have ultimates no one else would have.Still,I think they will be looked at as heros seeing as they have saved the entire country and world a few times.I hope fury gets a robotic arm or somthing,him having one eye and one arm is to comical.

I still have major issues with the fact that the reserves had no training to fight other super humans,They had hand to hand combat and im sure they knew how to utilize that in the air but them being taken out so easily bugged me,it is true that the anti reserves had better armor and im sure they were alot stronger but still id like to see some reserves get honors if theres any left.

I have a question: will the whole invasion thing be shown or even talked about in the other Ultimate books? Will it just be mentioned in passing or will the story be told from the their own points of view? I mean we see that all the other superheroes where captured but we don't know how. For continuity purposes I hope Spider-man atleast says "hey Kitty remember that one time when NY was invaded and we got captured? That was fun."
