I think, reading some of the issue last night, I might have realized why the delays.
Maybe they had to re-write some parts, like changing the Speaker of the House to Nancy Palosie.
Or maybe they totally re-wrote the whole final battle and last part of the story to reflect what is going on more.

I was a little disappointed by this issue...right up until the Rainbow Bridge appeared. That was maybe the coolest visual in the book so far. The political commentary was a bit heavy-handed, but it worked in the end.

And call me a sucker, but that last scene with Steve and Gail was really touching. If they ever adapt the Ultimates to film, that should be the last scene of the movie/series.

Yeah, that was a pretty poignant scene. It felt out of the blue because of the delays, but in the bigger picture of the Ultimates, it makes sense, since y'know, the Ultimates wouldn't have existed without Cap.

So now that everyone has a chance to read this issue...was it worth the wait? Is it worth it for me to go back and reread the last couple of issues and pick this one up?

Oh yeah. It's a hell of a finale. Huge. Went out with a bang. Very good end to vol. 2 and totally worth the wait (for that 8 page spread alone, it's worth the wait).

No, it wasn't. I don't care how kewl an eight page spread looks, that was no reason to have to wait nine months between issues. My cousin managed to have a set of Irish Twins between issue 12 and 13. That's f**king ridiculous.

Well maybe my expectations were just really low for this. I honestly thought all the major action had already happened and this was just going to be a pure wrap-up issue. I did not expect a full out asgardian war. So I was pleasantly suprised when I pulled out an 8 page battlespread and blurted out "HOLY ****!" on the trainride home.

Well, I saw the preview they did and they had already showed. (at least a partial verison.) So I wasn't exactly shocked to see it.
