The only down side of the 8 page spread for me was that its hard to look at. I mean without laying it down on a table or something, because of the comic its attatched to, you can't hold it up by both sides and look at it or hold it up and show it to other people.
Minor thing. Very cool spread.

I didn't fully get the whole last scene, it ending with the beginning, but it was a great scene. And now, reading this thread, I realize why they had that part. He was responcible for the Ultimates, Captain America and the super soldier race lead to the creation of all the Ultimate super characters: Spider-Man, Hulk, Green Goblin, Sand Man, Doc Ock, Electro, Captain Britian, the evil ultimates, all of them.
I didn't think of that before.

Makes me wish they weren't ending their run on Ultimates, the ending makes me wish I could see what they would have done.
I wish Ed McGuinness was already working on it.

I really don't think I'll be sticking with it after this. For me, this was the perfect end.

even though it was a great ending, i'm curious to see what happens next.

I'm looking forward to the more action/superhero oriented approach that Loeb is going to be taking. The whole "global politics" feel of the book has run its course at just the right time.

I just hope JMad is on time,I know that's asking for alot.

McG on the other hand seems to be stockpiling already. The guy's been an exclusive for almost a year now and all he's done is variant covers,a one shot and a back up story.I want more McG damnit.

I don't think that taking away the politics is good because that has made the book great. The political part makes the character a bit more real because they face something that is part of the real world. Its only natural that super pwered people get caught in the web of politics. Loeb is just being lazy if he takes away the politics and makes them like the avengers or more heroic.

Millar already started it though by having the Ultimates disassociate themselves with the government. They're freelance now. So if there's anyone to deem responsible for their change to regular heroes it's Millar but I actually like the change. More adventures and less missions. Maybe get to see them do some work in the community.

I don't think that Loeb wanting to take the book in a different direction makes him lazy....just, you know, different...

McGuinness is almost done with his run by last account.

ok so i got my copy and I hate it........no joke, not worth the read, bad ending, major let down on the battle scenes and the last few panels are meh.It was rushed and the wait is even more un called for.

Did anyone body else find the 8 page spread awkward to read?

I felt the finale was pretty mehish compared to the much better previous issues.

I find it weird that they're going so far ahead in the series. What if Marvel decides to "shake things up" in the meantime (which will not be reflected in the already finished Ultimates 4). I guess we could use a little more Ultimate continuity issues..

It's much better in context. I think it's the wait that has people pretty dissapointed but when you read the entire arc (or volume like I did) together it is really quite an awesome ending. Almost as good as the last one (You're just not going to beat that Kleiser fight).

How do you "read" an 8 page spread without dialog?:woot:

I felt the majority of the finale was in #12,this was just an epilogue of sorts tying up loose ends.

The series started in WW2 back in Ultimates Vol.1 so it was quite a fitting end to their entire run.

So how much did you pay for it?

It brings the biggest smile to my face that you complained endlessly about the lateness of this issue for months, you actually paid for it,and that you hated it in the end.

That is so awesome.

Looking back you're pretty much right. Ultimates used to be one of my favorite titles. Say what you want about Millar, at least on this book he was having fun. I loved the series as a whole, just thought the wait for #13 wasn't worth it.

:woot:You know what I meant.

The flashback was a great touch. I wish we got more on what happens with Banner though.

Oh Banner's f**kin' gone. I bet that guy made another run for it as soon as the threat was over. Everybody was too busy cleaning up so they probably didn't notice. Now we got a Banner on the run trying to find a cure for himself, I'm pretty sure, so that's cool.

No epilogue is worth waiting 9 months for,I agree.Neary got other work before getting Hitch's pencils, which sucks, but is understandable.Man's gotta eat!

That was my only gripe about the book, the lack of resolution of Bruce's arc.

Yeah, they should have at least shown him slink away after seeing Betty with Nick or have Betty or someone else ask "Where's Bruce?" and realize he's gone. I would have loved to see the look on that *****'s face.

Ahhh, good call Savage.Even something small like that would be good.Hopefully Loeb addresses Bruce's situation when he starts.

That pretty much sums up what I was going to say.

Nice going, ang_hulk.
