Exactly. That requires work and we are lazy, lazy people around here, god damn it. :o

Really? He looks like a Metal Gear character to me. Even his stance with the gun is giving me flashbacks.

But none of the Metal Gear characters I mentioned wore masks or high-tech sighting equipment. The most they had was that video-radio thing that I can't remember the name of.

Resident Evil characters held handguns like that, too. That stance is regularly used in games that are intended to be quasi-realistic, not that I necessarily know whether that's the proper way to hold a handgun or not. If I thought hard enough, I could probably come up with other video games with similar stances.

Does this mean we should start referring to Hawkeye as Chris Redfield or Leon Kennedy in addition to Solid Snake?

Heh, I figured Joe Mad couldn't pull off a full 12 issues either Loeb announced Ult 3 will be 5 issue long. Yeah that's Joe Madueira to blame for that one.
Yeah, that makes sense. Wait, where's the proof? Where's the "Well, we're only making this five issues long because MAD over there doesn't draw fast enough, and we don't want delays, and he can't handle a long-term project, which is why Marvel rehired him, so we're making it five issues long." :whatever:

Considering Loeb also said that Ultimates 3 is supposed to be setting up the Ultimate events, it's less of a stand-alone series and more of a prologue type thing, in which case the short length of it works and makes more sense than trying to get 12-13 issues out of it. Besides, even if Joe MAD is delay-plagued now, do you really think that that bothers anyone in the Ultimate line? Look at Ultimates and Ultimates 2.

Five issues, instead of twelve or thirteen. Or instead of Countdown. Why, instead of five issues, we could have Countdown to Ultimate Event! Wouldn't THAT be much better? :whatever:

Hey, it's nothing to think too hard about. It's just one of those things. I guess stereotyping, for lack of a better word. It's like calling an asian guy Jackie Chan or a black guy Puff Daddy. They may look nothing like those people but you get the point and reference. I'm pretty sure when Dread referenced Solid Snake he was talking about Hawkeye's black ops look and use of firearms as opposed to his trademark arrows. Just a random name drop. Doesn't matter who he's referencing. He just chose the more famous of video game characters. He could have easily said Null (who actually bares a closer resemblance)
metal-gear-solid-portable-ops-20061201022459661-000.jpg

but who honestly would get that reference?!

But why would I call a black guy a Puff Daddy (and the correct term is Diddy now, I think - keep with the times, will you? :woot:) or asian person a Jackie Chan?

I know I'm not exactly preaching to the choir, and I'm definitely not saying that calling Hawkeye a Solid Snake is racial in any way, shape, or form, and I'm not even saying there's anything wrong racially or politically incorrect or whatever. I just think it's pointless.

"LIEK ONOES HE R LUK LIEK VID GEMZ CARACTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y MAD R HAK!"

I'm not mocking anyone specifically, just the general idea.

Hawkeye has a definitive black ops type look to him. Why can't we leave it at that? Why is there a need to make the next jump and say "Well, obviously Mad is a hack, and he needs to get rid of the mad-on for video games, because if he's not making all his characters look like 616 dolts he's making them look like video game clowns!"

Not that you have to like MAD's art, and not liking it is, of course, perfectly fine. But why make the jump to make something that isn't a discovery or observation, but is a meaningless attempt at bashing it?

Save that destructive output for Bachalo's crap. :oldrazz: :woot:

It's probably because he wanted to work with Loeb again. They're buddies.

That said, McG should be on a mainstream X-title, darnit!

Well, he would've been working with Loeb on Ulimates 4, anyway. I say put him on a Hulk book and make Hulk a hero again.

I meant him being on Ultimates 4 when I wrote it.
In response to your line about his talents being wasted on the Ultimate universe.

Mr. pj clearly took "Phalanx" to a nerdier level than I had intended. Which does make sense. Rather, the egg is on my face for not expecting such to happen, given the environs. And egg on the face is not a texture I enjoy.

Thus, we are not Borg. Borg is nub. We are Spartan Phalanx people. We don't need to steenkeen bronze. We're all gold and technological!

Do we have really great abs?
