can anyone scan the shanna and ka-zar pics?

I dont see how anyone can say they like Mad, then insult Leifield. They have about the same knowledge of anatomy, they both draw everyone overly muscled (Mad even moreso than Liefield here)...the only difference between them is Mad covers up his hackery with the classic Pat Lee trick of drawing a bunch of details on everything.

That's ludicrous.

I love you. Mostly.

You're out of your mind.
He's not, really. While I absolutely love Bryan Hitch's work on The Ultimates, so don't think I don't, the main problem with it is that the vivid realism to the artwork keeps the reader stuck on the outside, watching in. And the more complex and real it is, the harder it is to continually read it. That would be why film is the medium of moving pictures. Comics don't move. We have to fill the blanks in ourselves, and in those last fight scenes, especially, there was so much full action that there wasn't as much gutter to be involved. And that made the reading slow down, which in turn lowers its coherency.

Of course, you'll tell me I'm wrong. But other people will know what I'm talking about.

Are we talking about the battle with the Liberators or the battle with the Norse creatures?

The Battle with the Liberators was absolutely freakin awesome. The final battle against the Norse creatures in #13 eh not so much. The art was nice, but I didnt really feel the action the way i did in #12. #13 went by so fast and didnt really satisfy. Don't get me wrong, i love the Ultimates to death, i'm just saying, the Norse creature showdown was lacking compared to the Liberators battle.

Least Mads held back on the boob size with Shanna though. Wonder which one of those tigers is supposed to be Zabu?

^ Im guessing the one that Ka-zar has his arm drapped on.

X-Men #313- Gambits arm is all f**ked up, and so are the faces.

X-Men #322- Look at how f**king huge and grotesquely muscled Juggernaut is. Not to mention the classic Leifeld "tiny waist, huge ****" Psylocke has going on.

X-Men #350- What the hell is wrong with Gambits nose?

X-Men #228- Same problem with Psylocke, Sabertooths anatomy is all messed up, and he seems to be doing some crazy anime thing with it? Psylockes face is horrid

The guy sucks. He's also a terrible visual story teller. I will give you that Hitch isnt a superb storyteller either, but like Jim Lee, he can at least make up for it with BEING ABLE TO DRAW.

Dude, I never much cared for Manga style but how the hell can you say Joey Mad can't draw when the only flaws you point out are ones that pretty much every artist makes?

Did the original Ultimates have this much XXX title stuff?

Jeez, it feels like every person in the team is sleeping with one another. Something definitely feels off with Loeb in this title. The dialogue seems so outdated at times. Also in the past I haven't been a fan of Joe Mad's work but, I'm actually liking it this time around.

All in all Ultimates has been fun so far. I'll continue picking it up.

This incest crap needs to stop though. I know Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch always had this thing insinuated from time to time. I get that. I didn't really have a problem with that. Now though, Marvel is just outright saying it. Loeb seems really fixated on it as well.

Idont see to big a deal

Isnt Juggie supposed to be big. Psylocke I blame the angle

X-Men #350- What the hell is wrong with Gambits nose?

fair enough

X-Men #228- Same problem with Psylocke, Sabertooths anatomy is all messed up, and he seems to be doing some crazy anime thing with it? Psylockes face is horrid

I can see the anime thing. I see no problem in general with Sabes anatomy other than being a little bigger than usual

I don't see anything wrong with this one. The faces look fine to me.

X-Men #322- Look at how f**king huge and grotesquely muscled Juggernaut is. Not to mention the classic Leifeld "tiny waist, huge ****" Psylocke has going on.

The Juggernaut has always been misproportioned. It's kind of his thing. And I don't see anything about that Psylocke that differs from the way anyone else draws her.

X-Men #350- What the hell is wrong with Gambits nose?

I don't know, but that one has always bothered me. The only thing that I can think of, is that he intended the cards to be extremely bright, and sort of blot out his face in light.

X-Men #228- Same problem with Psylocke, Sabertooths anatomy is all messed up, and he seems to be doing some crazy anime thing with it? Psylockes face is horrid

It's not his best work, but the colorist's "lines" on Psylocke's face aren't Mad's fault.

It's hilarious that you have a problem with the tiny waist and big chest on Mad's Psylocke, but I guess you don't when Lee draws her? I mean, Jesus dude. The waist Lee puts on Psylock looks like it'll snap if it bends the wrong way.

It's also interesting to note that out of 32 covers, you found something "wrong" with 4 of them. :oldrazz:

I picked 4 random covers, and found something wrong with each. And I've never seen Lee's psylocke, but will admit I hate most of his work from the 90's too. But unlike Mad, McFarlane, and Leifield, he got past the entire 90's crap style. Mad still draws in the same, s**ty way, he just has a better inker and colorist now. And even with that, Ultimates 3 looks way worse than any of this old stuff.
