Superman Returns Official Theatrical trailer Crowd reaction report thread

not for nothing but to the haters who don't believe in reactions to trailers i cannot express how many times people in my local theater have clapped for a trailer, such as batman begins or another spiderman or the world trade center trailer. It really depends on the area aswell as the time, go in the morning maybe not such a crowd, at night with alot of teens and older group who grew up with superman you'll get a reaction.

It's usually the city you live in......I hear crowd reactions ALL the time. It's fun, I don't see anything wrong with it.

A little excitment never hurt anyone. I can't even count the amount of times I've seen people clap or holler during good trailers or great 'money shots' during summer flicks.
It´s up to a lot of things, which city do you live in, which time... I went to screenings of Batman Begins in the same theater, one with applause at the end, one where people laughed at most of the jokes but didn´t clap, and one with almost absolute silence.

I have never seen a trailer clapped for and I go to a lot of movies. I think you're lying.

Or maybe you live in a place where people don't clap.

I've heard people clap when Vader was shown in the trailer for Revenge of the Sith. I heard people clap to the teaser of Spider-man. I remember the ruckus when people cheered the trailer to Phantom Menace.

Just because you don't experience it yourself doesn't mean it doesn't happen elsewhere.

I don't mind the laughter so much, but maybe you could lay off the cigar smoke next time?
Cigar smoke? You have us confused with Cubans. Straight cigarillos man.

when i saw Passion of the Christ, people cried. When I saw Batman Begins, everyone applauded at the very end. When I saw The Matrix Revolutions, everyone said "WTF?!" when it was over.

My local theater has both positive and negative reactions to movies and especially trailers.

I've only spoken the truth, and I thought it would exite people.. instead you call me a lier...

None of us were in the theater that you saw the preview at. Who else here is saw it at that same theater in Copenhagen? If this is what you saw the crowd at the theater do, then this is what you saw. Guys, he has no reason to make it up. I have had been called the same thing for what I saw my audience do when I saw the Hulk, and Batman 89. I have seen people clap and cheer for trailers. It isn't an uncommon thing. Lets stop calling people liars here, especailly when none of us were at the theater that he was at when he saw the preview.

I have NEVER been to a movie where people actually shout at the screen, clap, or talk alot. Except for "Halloween: Ressurection" when there were a few "don't go in there.".
Go to a theater on or near a Millitary base. You will have to go back to see the movie again because you missed half the damn lines because everyone is yelling at the screen, etc.

Please your the second person to say "your lying" to someone on in this thread, give me a break, you don't know me, nor should i gain ANYTHING from lieing about whether people have clapped during a trailer or not, so give it up.

I've been to a lot of movies at the theatre and some people, I noticed, laugh at things in the trailer that aren't even funny. Perfect example was when my best friend and I saw Sin City, packed crowd (smaller theatre though) and they ran the "Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy). Then I understood why people laughed at everything---because it was a well-liked pop cultural fable. The point I'm trying to make is don't underestimate the randomness of reactions from the general public.

My favorite reaction from the crowd when a trailer showed was a teaser for the Hulk, the morning after the first Spider-Man came out. It was a matinee and my college friend and myself saw the glimpse of Bana in the bathroom looking at the mirror, then the toilet flying out the house, and everyone then got the idea what was going on and started cheering, then I saw this real jacked guy who kind of resembled Lou Ferrigno, grin and look over with a thumb up in the air. Then he goes over to someone "They based that on me you know."

One thing the thread didn't cover was people's reactions till after a movie when you're walking out, and that's one of my favorite parts.

Among my favorites:

Three teen guys sitting behind my brother and I watching Fantastic Four and near the very end, blurt out in a real cynical voice "This was WORSE than Daredevil!"

I dont know how it is in the rest of the world, but in Copehagens digital theater called "The IMPERIAL" which can seat 1102 people (to be exact) in that one big show-room, the exitement are always in top notch.. I always watch the movie's (as often as possible) in that theater because it's absolutely HUGE, and the most stylish and glamourish theater in the whole of Denmark.. You simply get something that you DON'T in others, and people knows this.. which is why those who come there, are real movie-buffs, who likes to cheer for trailers and even clap under the movie, if something cool happens... But last time I heard someone clap at a trailer in that theater, was for spidey 2... But this was even more exiting.

I'm not saying that some people out of the 1100 didn't say bad things about the superman trailer, all I'm saying is that I only heard good things.. The vibe was definitly positive, and people DID clap after it ended.. Many didn't know that a new superman movie was coming out, here in Denmark, UNTIL NOW! Some knows, those who are fans... but even if people had seen the teaser poster/teaser trailer, it wasn't until they saw this new theatrical that people here in Denmark understood that this movie means BUSINESS!!!

It brought such a smile to my face, and I tell you here & now that I'm speaking the truth, so you can be happy! (if you refuse to believe me, than so be it, I honnestly dont care)

Got back from M:I:III a little while ago (good movie, btw), and the SR trailer was indeed showing. Crowd reaction (maybe 200 to 300 people) was slim to none, although one guy giggled at that shot of Supes flying through the air - the one in which it looks like he's on the verge of tears.

The trailers for Over the Hedge and Nacho Libre (especially) got laughs though.

wish i had a theater around here like the one described above, i think the closest one is in times square manhattan, which is only about 30 minutes away from me but its a PITA to get to the city for a movie.

got back from mi3, they didn't show it, which is odd for my theater

they didn't even show bond or potc2 too....but crowd was digging the x3 trailer :p

The interesting thing about the posts on this thread is that if you look at each members past posts you will see that the ones that heard a positive reaction to the trailer have always been huge supporters of the movie and the ones that heard a negative (or silent) reposnse have always been against the movie (just click on scooter and you will see what i mean). Makes you wonder how biased the perceived reactions are.

Very Good Point

Eh, I heard what I heard. It's not like there was any booing, there just wasn't much of anything - although, some Asian woman next to me was talking on her cellphone (for a while into the movie - I had to tell her to stop...that *****), so she could have been telling someone how awesome it was.

Scooter, I wasn't trying to pick on you...just noticed a trend and your post happened to be the most recent so I used it as an example. My apologies if you thought my post was directed against you.

So, the "just click on scooter and you'll see what I mean" bit had nothing to do with me?

;)

You have to admit, you haven't exactly been a big supporter of the upcoming version of Superman.
