There's a difference between walking around at some weight and being in shape at your fighting weight. Hell Anderson's walk around weight has been claimed to be anywhere from 210-230, and there's no way in hell he fights anywhere close to that. That is unless Okami fights at 220 or something, and that would be far too much weight to cut and put on. Anderson is not that big at all. Dude at best is probably 200 pounds while fighting. No way in hell does he fight anywhere near what Fedor does.

Besides, most fighters cut weight except the heavyweights, so there isn't much of an advantage. And heavyweights absolutely suck ass. It's a reason why people call it the worst division. The bigger guys Fedor beat weren't even good. Sylvia was past his prime and had already been handled by a much smaller Randy, Hong Man Choi was a joke, Semmy had no ground game, and Arlovski wasn't that much bigger than Fedor. Sure there was a height difference, but Fedor carries enough weight to keep that from being too pronounced. Plus most great heavyweights in MMA history have been smaller guys like Fedor, Coleman, Cro Cop, and Randy. The only big heavyweight that had much long term success was Sylvia, and he lost to two guys on that list, and two other much smaller guys in Nog and Mir.

The bigger guys Fedor beat were the likes of Hong Man Choi and Zuluzinho. Those are not big accomplishments.

Fedor also got beat by a smaller career middleweight and light heavyweight in Dan Henderson. So whatever.

That's always a pretty big accomplishment. Overcoming such a huge size advantage at the professional level like that. Choi was is K-1 champ, it's not like he can't walk.
Bruce Lee agrees...

And Dan Henderson has fought at EVERY(ok, not EVERY, but whatever) weight. He beat Nog too.

Chonan was a natural welterweight, and Azeredo was a natural lightweight. However, Silva was fighting at around 170lbs during the time he fought Azeredo, so the size difference (particularly in muscle mass as opposed to fat) wouldn't have been super extreme. Same situation with Chonan at around 185lbs, but in each case Silva would have been the decidedly larger fighter.

Let's stir things up a bit.

Man I can't believe anderson has not been fined for that fight though.

First infraction. Hitting sonnen with a strike before the fight.

Second infraction: Wiping Vaseline from his face to his arms and shoulder(this alone should be grounds for a fine), this is considered a DQ in wrestling(a sport I have done my whole life).

Third infraction: Pulling on sonnens shorts.

Possible: Kneeing sonnen in the face, grabbing the cage.

What have you?

grabbing the cage lololo you mean the 2 seconds he touched the cage when he threw the flying knee to the chest

dude you are grasping at straws now lol

Ohh Well, I'll just post this instead.

And now a quote from a fighter I met here in austin, currently fighting for strikeforce(I even sold his gym a wrestling throw mat).

"Wipe grease on your arms, grab your opponent shorts, and knee them in the face when they are down. That's how champions should act?"- Tim Kennedy

who cares what a sf fighter has to say lol

grease was wiped off
was warned for shorts grab - keep in mind chael even said he grabbed his shorts aswell
knee was legal

please end this lol

I was most angry about the greasing. I believe the knee was legal and shorts grabbing was something spur of the moment, he probably didn't know he was doing it.

The grease or vaseline was almost completely wiped off, but I do think there was still some, as yves wasn't that thorough. While anderson was doing said act I was yelling at my house. As a wrestler I have had guys try to grease. It is grounds for automatic disqualification. People do it on their arms, chest, and back in wrestling to negate someones ability to use Greco throws, bear hugs, and etc.

Anderson Silva greasing himself, is the same as Margarito using plaster on his gloves, It is the same as Barry bonds using corked bats, it is against the rules.

At the very least Anderson Silva should get a fine for this, not minor incident.
It was despicable, plus downright stupid, he must lack intelligence to do it in front of the camera.

No one cares what you say so what's your point? If you don't like the topic.....leave. Understand? Good.

People act like the grease is going to stay on the face of a fighter during the fight. Especially when your fighting a wrestler like Chael, where his game plan is to take you down, his greasy face is gonna be all over Anderson's chest anyway.

Also, fighters grease all the time before fights. The night before and all along training camp. I see it all the time.

Anderson won the fight. And he'd win again.

Next.

The shoulder shrug strike at the weigh ins was enough to warrant a fine, and people have been fined for similar attacks. Seriously, what if that shoulder strike dislocated Chael's jaw and the fight is cancelled.

The grease was wiped off? F- you. He did it. This f-ing guy accuses Chael of cheating(which he has and is) and then goes and does something like that so obviously and then tries to pretend like he's the good guy? F- this guy. I hate Chael Sonnen, but he is right about Anderson. He IS a phony and a fake

If he was already greased, like you say all fighters do before a fight, then why did he stand there, in the cage and CLEARLY rub himself down before the fight started?

It really didnt matter in the end, but seriously? Don't excuse his ridiculous behavior. He knew what he was doing. It wasn't an accident.

Who knows. Anderson does that before every fight, anyway. Plus, grease didn't have anything to do with the outcome of this fight. Chael still took him down and owned him for the first 5 minutes, and then he got sloppy and tried a spinning backfist, something I've never seen him do, and he knew he messed up when he did that. Fight over. You could see it in his eyes.

Maybe because he was doing it w/out thinking. Fail isn't in Silva's league. Anderson don't have to cheat him to beat him. It was wiped off. Chael took him down w/ease anyways. Had no effect on the fight

In MMA, Choi is a tomato can. No way around that

No, he doesn't.

The outcome of the fight doesn't matter. He did it. He tried to cheat, PERIOD.

So is Sonnen with using TRT. He can't fight like a normal human being anymore. He needs the help of TRT. And yes, Anderosn always rubs his face then pats his body down. But that doesn't even matter. Cheal had his shot, he took it, he lost, its over. He even admits that he grabbed Anderson's shorts too. So he cheated too then.

People forget. THIS IS A FIGHT! Your gonna have to excuse the guys from making some mistakes. YOUR LIFE IS ON THE LINE!

Are you dense, or just not paying attention. I said earlier that Chael is a cheater, and Anderson has even called him a cheater(which he is) but then Anderson goes and cheats himself? I'm calling BS, and thinking Chael is right about Anderson and that he is a phony and full of *****.

This might be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. No one forgets that this is a fight. This is a fight yes, but there are RULES in these fights. Rules put in place to protect the fighters and make the fights fair.

I didn't read your earlier posts. Oh, so Anderson is phony because he bent a couple rules....WOW!

I don't even know what to say to your second half....Rules?! Yeah, I know. But these rules will not be followed to a tee every single movement. Some of the stuff is instinct! Like I said, your fighting for your life. You, yourself, must not train or fight. If you were in there, grabbing a fence, or pulling on the shorts, its stuff that just happens. Its not like you mean to break these rules.
