Wow. Walkover. Not only was he beaten but he was outclassed by a guy who has only had a couple of professional fights on the ground which was supposed to be his strength.

Overeem was not Ubereem tonight. Off the sauce and running. Crazy fight, but at the same time a bad one. That was some bad technique.

Punk choked worse than the Golden State Warriors!

Only way this could have gone

I never want to see CM Punk fight in the UFC again. He had his opportunity. I don't want to see him in another fight. Otherwise it's like this episode of Friends.

I kinda liked the world seeing the difference in just how talented and vicious these pros are. It's easy to lose sight of when watching them battle each other week in and week out.

The bottom players in the NFL were the best players on their college teams, I assume the UFC is the same way. There are millions of martial artists out there, only a few get paid big money to fight. Difference though is the fact that MMA has had an all of the sudden rise in comparison and still has echos of the Tank Abbots and toughmans of the sport's history that, for the longest time, have convinced a number of brodudes they could pull it off versus no one thinking that way about other pro sports. Guys join MMA gyms to this day thinking their big break is maybe 6 months of training away, and that fight was the spotlight.

Mickey Gall at least fought on the amateur level before he turned pro. Not to mention, he's a young, fresh faced prospect. He doesn't have the miles on his body that CM Punk does.

mickey wants northcutt next lol

he likely gets whooped sage has fought and beaten guys with 12-15 pro fights

Dana White said he doesn't think CM Punk's next fight should happen in the UFC.

I respect Punk for stepping in there, but it went as expected. Maybe had he trained for this and only this from a young age, who knows? Maybe he could have had a respectable career.

As for Gall vs Sage. I'd go with Sage. I know his only loss was at 170 but he's a good fighter with more experience

No. If he demonstrated anything last night, he doesn't have the inherent athletic skill. Something a guy like Brock does have.

sage's lone loss dont look too bad seeing how Bryan Barberena recently beat formerly undefeated TUF Brazil 3 Winner Warlley Alves

according to big john McCarthy the Browne/Werdum fight should of been ruled a TKO victory for Werdum since you cant call timeout to a legal blow

Brock is an athletic freak. No one that big should have the speed and agility he has.

Punk can cross this off his bucket list now. I expect to see him wrestling in Japan within the next six months. Still he lasted longer than I expected.

Respect to him though for doing it. He does need to fight elsewhere until he's ready, but with his age I'm not sure he'll make it back. He thought he was better than what he was. I'm looking forward to his adventure though, or he could be back in time for a Mania payday.

Thought in general the UFC 203 card was a bit of a let down, I did miss the opening SW womens fight though but I highly doubt it would have changed my opinion.

Faber & Rivera was an overcautious fight, neither guy looking remotely aggressive looking to take the fight to the other. Very dull fight.

Werdum & Browne was looking quite decent until the incident with Browne's hand(?)/finger(?). They said it was against the rules for him to call attention to the injury & get a brief pause in clock because there are no breaks or timeouts for injuries, but I was OK with it personally. Give the guy a moment to put it back & let him continue if he wishes, in hindsight despite me being alright with it, it was clear Browne's hand was unusable & causing him distress. He threw the right hand very sporadically instead trying to fight with just his left. Werdum really had a chance there to put it to him & make a case for himself to be next in line, but after the showing & cruising to victory, it's clear that Velasquez should be the next challenger.

Miocic & Overeem was a bizarre fight, didn't understand Overeem's tactics at all. For someone that is supposedly such an elite striker he certainly didn't look like it, turning his back & being side on to Miocic for the majority of the fight. Overeem weighing 245lbs is pretty funny as well & Rogan trying to act like he has lost the weight on purpose to aid his cardio.. right... it has nothing to do with the fact he's clearly been juiced to the gills for the last 10 or so years at least & now because of the stricter drug testing rules he cannot keep taking them. The interview after with him was pretty cringe as well, good job by Rogan calling him on his ******** statement. Good victory for Miocic.

Gall & Punk was pretty bad & shouldn't have been on the card, a lot of things bothered me about his fight. For a start CM Punk had no business being in there, Mickey Gall is relatively inexperienced himself but in comparison to CM Punk is a veteran. I don't know what inspired him to try to do this, but he's not even in the same boat as someone like Brock Lesnar, not only is Lesnar a complete freak athlete, but he actually had a high calibre grappling backround. Fair enough, it takes guts making the walk & getting in the cage, but balls without skills in MMA will get you hurt. If he wants to pursue this further, he should go fight at smaller shows & fight against guys that on his level.

Also didn't like that they announced him as simply "CM Punk", that's not the guys real name. It's a nickname & should be treated as such. Like say The Rock wanted to fight he should be announced as 'Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson' & CM Punk should have been the same.

Also just thought I'd say, the Cleveland crowd was absolutely insane when Miocic won. Rivaling the likes of Dublin when McGregor fought there or Brazil when Aldo beat Mendes. I wanna see crowds like that at every event.

Jacare/Rockhold on November 26th in Melbourne. High stakes fight. I guess they either do the winner here vs. the winner of the rumored Romero/Weidman fight or the winner of those fights that looks more impressive gets the next title shot.

Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor face suspensions and fines for UFC 202 incident

Probably why they've yet to announce a UFC 205 headliner.

Both of them should get a big fine in addition to whoever from Diaz's leaving brigade also participated & can be held accountable. Suspensions though I think are a little overboard, it was a disgrace but large fines & perhaps some forced charity or community work for the UFC/Vegas would be fine.

If McGregor's out of 205, I want Cerrone/Alvarez now that Lawler's out. Smart decision by him I feel to pull, apparently he's got some personal stuff to deal with in addition to the fact he wanted to let his head heal some more after the KO lose. Very smart, he could do with taking a good year off, he's had some brutal wars in the last 2-3 years culminating in that KO defeat.

Reports: CM Punk More Than Doubled UFC 203's Pay-Per-View Revenue, Drawing Power Among MMA Elite
As a professional mixed martial artist, it’s clear that Punk didn’t make the cut. His debut was so underwhelming, in fact, that Dana White has already made overtures about the pro wrestler moving on from the UFC.

Except, that probably won’t happen. Because for as much as Punk fell short as a legitimate MMA competitor, he exceeded expectations as a pay-per-view draw for the UFC, accounting for a buy rate that only a handful of active fighters have surpassed.

According to Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting, UFC 203 is trending to be a bigger event than UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz (~650,000 PPV buys) and perhaps even UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier (~800,000 PPV buys). Since 182, there are only three fighters to have drawn larger paying audiences: Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar.

Heading into 203, UFC pay-per-view guru Dave Meltzer estimated that the card without Punk would do somewhere between 250,000-300,000 buys — a range that sounded right on the money looking at recent PPVs with comparable star power. Stipe Miocic, Fabricio Werdum and Urijah Faber were 203′s other big names, and UFC 198: Werdum vs. Miocic did approximately 350,000 buys, benefiting from a stronger card from top to bottom.

Where Meltzer and most others went wrong, however, was in predicting the drawing power of Punk, one of the WWE’s most popular fighters leading up to his departure from the squared circle in 2014.

“This is what I’ll say: Anything over 270 (thousand PPV buys) is because of Punk,” Meltzer said on The MMA Hour. “Because I was looking at this and I was thinking this is probably, you know, 250-300ish (thousand), right? Probably below 300 (thousand) when you take Punk out. So if it does 400 (thousand), then Punk was a hell of a draw. … If somehow it does 500 (thousand), then I completely underestimated the pro wrestling audience.”

I can't see McGregor taking a fight against such a matchup like Alvarez with less than two months to prepare, plus doing any sort of media obligations that will be required for a fight of this magnitude. He just came off of a five round scrap with Diaz and had a bad injury too. He isn't training hard. Meanwhile, Alvarez is probably training like an animal assuming he'll fight McGregor at UFC 205, and if he doesn't fight him there will end up fighting him later on in the year.

I worry that the UFC will settle for Cormier vs. Johnson, Romero vs. Weidman, Evans vs. Kennedy, Cerrone vs. Ellenberger. Then, odds are one of those fights would be canceled due to an elevator incident.

While the card looks good on paper, it wouldn't hold a candle to the big-fight feel Alvarez/McGregor and all the fans that would come could bring to the event. That's why a date hasn't been announced yet. I guarantee the UFC is holding out to see if McGregor is fighting. That will make a difference in the gate, and all the fans would have to book flights to NYC.
