What a whiny *****. He fought once this year and once last year. He doesn't get to force fights.

he deserves his rematch since he is the interim champion for god sakes and no former champ in the ufc has deserves a rematch more

He had 3 shots at Mcgregor already. Pulled out 2 weeks before the event the first time. Got knocked out in 13 seconds the second time. Ran his mouth about "anytime, anywhere" then didn't accept when Dos Anjos pulled out for strike #3. No sympathy.

Alvarez was asked at the presser if he'll use the same strategy he used against Pettis (grind against the cage/ground) and he said no. Good for Mcgregor if Alvarez lets his pride keep them standing.

if nate can rock mcgregor which he did in the first fight

eddie will put conor to sleep

Highly entertaining press conference. What a fantastic card, hopefully nobody gets injured or pisses hot because currently it's by far the best card on paper I can remember.

I find the Aldo contract cancellation request amusing & he's made himself look like a bit of a fool, I've absolutely no sympathy for him either. It wouldn't surprise me if McGregor is purposely stringing him along making him wait as well, he seemed very upset when Aldo pulled out of their initial scheduled bout.

I thought the same thing. That fight took forever to happen and McG def doesnt need Aldo at this point. I think he would sleep him again anyway

Go back even Stephens himself was laughing. And then he had that rebuttal calling McGregor a leprechaun. Maybe it was the shoes, but I thought Alvarez was bigger but it looked like McGregor had a good inch on him, at least. I like how when McGregor talks toward Dana and the UFC, Dana just laughs.

It was a good 12 months after McGregor beat Siver & I think 14 months after Aldo beat Mendes in which I think McGregor already was in touching distance of a title shot.

I don't hold it against Aldo, accidents & injuries do happen. But if Aldo had pulled out, McGregor then risks his shot fighting Mendes, say he loses that fight, do you think Aldo would have shed any tears for McGregor or do you think McGregor would have cried about it in the same way that Aldo is doing now?

The whole situation just amuses me, I've never liked nor hated Aldo, but this situation with him asking for his UFC contract to be cancelled or he'd retire is just so silly & foolish IMO.

Exactly. I mean, I get the hesitation from McGregor's end McGregor pretty much dismisses any thought of a rematch, due to the first time they were supposed to fight when they were on that tour. But on the flip side this is still, at the end of the day, a sport, and if you're the champion, and you have an interim champion, but have no plans on fighting that guy... I guess it's just something we'll have to see how it plays out. I don't think Aldo is in the wrong here wanting to fight McGregor and unify those belts but the UFC isn't in the wrong by putting together the Alvarez fight either in terms of money. There are big money opportunities out there. Fight Holloway or Pettis, let the Alvarez fight play out, and take it from there. But Aldo vs. McGregor 2 doesn't have much appeal. Maybe if McGregor loses to Alvarez it will. McGregor is going to fight again before Aldo is anyway, Aldo likes to have a ten week camp to get ready, and McGregor is fighting in six weeks, it's likely that by the time McGregor has fought, Aldo wouldn't have a fight booked, and once McGregor has fought they can either tell Aldo whether he's the undisputed champion or his next fight would be against McGregor for the undisputed championship.

If McGregor fights Alvarez & wins, I think he'll just vacate the FW title & stay at LW. But if he loses to Alvarez I think he'll go straight back down & try to defend the FW title. I think his sole purpose for keeping the title at the minute is to be able to be the first UFC fighter to hold 2 titles simultaneously.

The Dos Anjos/Diaz saga just delayed what should have happened 6 months ago.

Aldo should have expressed his annoyance that he wouldn't be Conor's next fight, but he should have just rolled with it because there's a chance he'll never fight Conor again, ever. So with him asking to be released on the basis of not getting the rematch when he wants it is foolish on his part.

So many fighters missed weight today it's an embarrassment.

I think a big problem is that fighters go to fight week and try to lose 20 pounds or more in 2-3 days. They try to just get it all off at once. That means the slightest mistake means they could miss weight.

Well you lose the theoretical size advantage when you cut weight the legit way. They want the size, the muscle of a weight class above.

The theoretical advantage doesn't always mean much though. I mean look at Robert Whittaker. He is a small middleweight. He started off in UFC as welterweight and did OK, then he moved up and looked even better. He's faster than the bigger guys.

Speed is what kills. Speed is what helps you generate power.

Now look at a guy like Cole Miller. He's been in UFC a while and has about 10 wins, but he's been absolutely abysmal as a featherweight. He was more impressive as a lightweight but he continues to fight at featherweight because he told Ariel Helwani that you need to be big and strong for your weight class.

And yet every fight I see with Cole Miller at featherweight, he looks slow and tired and gassed. The natural featherweights pick Cole Miller apart. Miller is bigger and longer than almost everyone he fights at featherweight, yet that size advantage does nothing for him at all.

thats cyborg's big problem she was 160 pounds 3 days before the weigh in where she needed to make 140lbs

these fighters wont have to struggle if they loose 5lbs a day during fight week
