Days of Future Past "Only have one more new character" in sequel says Vaughn

Why didn't Xavier scan for Scott? Seriously? What a big plot hole in X3...Marsden can't stay and film a lot b/c Singer stole him for some stupid role in SR, so we are gonna have Jean "kill him", but we don't see his body or anything...sheesh. Sorry, I really shouldn't get started on X-men: The Last Stand.

So are we talking X4, which may or may not happen...or a sequel to First Class?

Does anyone know Vaughn's feelings about Scott? Does he actually like the character?

We're talking a sequel to TLS or FC?

Does anyone have a good reason why Cyclops should not be the new character? Besides continuity with the original movies. He should be a main character in an X-men movie...at least once. Is that too much to ask?

Real easy to have Scott and Jean to be alive for the X4 trilogy:

First, that wasn't Jean in X3, it was a clone (Maddie) Sinister created to test Jean's potential...

Sinister stopped the clone before it could kill Scott, and took him away...

Their both in a lab in stasis somewhere...off the grid and undetectable by Cerebro.

They could introduce Sinister in one of the X:FC sequels and set the events of X4 easily into motion.

Oh, ok thanks. Didn't know. Was thinking of the DC character.

Rowsder nice choice:up:

Thanks, yeah... I know it's typecasting but DAMN, I can't envision anyone else as Cable besides Lang. Even Rob Liefeld said that after he was Avatar. I hate Liefeld for the most part, but since Cable is one of his few co-creations that I actually like, I'll take his word for it.

the thing is even if he was somehow brought in (ignoring continuous/timeline) he wouldn't be the main character/leader of the team that people want him to be... if he was brought in at this time, he'd just be the young new recruit... and would just be there for the sake of being there

he'd feel out of place, and forced imo

I think introducing Scott next would be fine...we'd get to see him grow and eventually become a leader. It would be interesting to see he and Alex have a rivalry going...with Prof. X knowing their actually brothers but not telling them for his own reasons.

I wouldn't mind if he was introduced as a younger side character though to better establish his relationship with Xavier. I'd rather they introduce Scott in FC2 to set up his character better and to make him becoming the leader feel more natural. The young mutants graduating in X3 wouldn't have felt like a big deal if that was their first film and if they introduce Scott, Jean, and Storm all in one film for FC3, the last in the trilogy, then they'll probably be brushed over.

Yeah, it's possible that the next film could take place many years later, or could span a much longer period of time. We could watch Scott grow into the leader he will become, see Charles lose his hair (though I guess all McAvoy's female fans will cry when they see this), see Magneto begin to plan his war.

Also, did they ever say what the relationship is between Scott and Alex? Is Alex just his older brother? Or is he some other relation?

If Mags kills JFK then we at least know part of it takes place in 1963.

They're going to have to try real hard to top the Comedian's awesome assassination of the Prez.

I wouldn't like to see continuity screwed for the sake of Cyclops in FC2. He's already missed the boat in this timeline, he wouldn't be a leader and he'd be just as shafted as before.

Clones seems like a really hokey device to use in the film continuity. To be honest, I think Jean has been resolved (albeit in a disappointing manner).

Cyclops' fate is unseen and easily fudged, and there's a lot left to do with that character. I hope he returns.

As I said days ago... Introducing Scott, Jean and Ororo in the final part of this trilogy would make it much more special, because its what many fans have been waiting since some years ago.

It could be the best x-men movie to date, so why rushing the Scott introduction in Second Class, if the expectation for the third one could be even bigger than with the second one?

Not necessarily. Mystique and Beast were new recruits and they were given juicy and interesting character development. Why couldn't they do the same for Scott. They've already added his brother. Maybe the villian in FC2 is Mr. Sinister. It could be pretty darn cool.

You don't see any possible problems development-wise for three major characters to be introduced and developed in one film with an already large cast? Especially the third film in the franchise, which is almost ALWAYS overcrowded? Especially when two of those characters are notorious for having been neglected by Singer in the first place?

When have the third film in a trilogy not been inferior? And you're claiming it could be the best one ever? I'm willing to be if they do that those three characters will be brushed over.

Toy Story 3. :o

I agree with Deaths Head II. If you want a proper origin of Cyke, Jean, or Storm, you would need them to be introduced in FC2 and developed more in a third, or introduced in a FC3 and developed more in a fourth movie. I'm thinking four movies is pushing it...probably won't get that. The next movie is all we can expect, if FC continues to do well at the Box office.

That is why I want Cyclops in FC2. Why wait?

That's looking at too many characters.

People will complain about shortchanging again.

I can understand your point, Deaths H.

But at the same time, I think Scott, Jean and Ororo should be introduced in the 80's. not in the 70's.

I want 15 years old Cyclops and Jean, so to be realistic, they should be in the 80's sequel, because if they use them in the 70's, by X-men 1 they would have 35-40 years old. And that was not the case.

While I do agree with everything you said, the way the X-Men films were set up, Famke Janssen was 35, James Marsden was 27, Halle Berry was 33, so they already have the ages all messed up. Realistically, it's highly unlikely all three would come back for a forth movie.

REcast them or not. I'm sure you can get all three back easily.

Where are you getting these exact ages from?

if thats their real age around X1, the middle age of the three is 30.

30 in 1999, when X1 was filmed.

So the characters were born around 1969-1072.

They should respect that.
