He's pretty good at describing the GA response to things seeing has how he isn't part of the fan community discussion. I use his insight for things here and there. Truth is GDT is selling some scott pilgrim un approachable stuff here with the color's and actors involved. That's what I think anyways.

Can I just say that although I am looking forward to the film, it does look corny. I understand exactly why some would think that. The fact that the people who cut the first trailer thought that that cheesy "cancelling the apocalypse" line/speech was anything but cheesy and kinda bad shows you how out of touch the marketing department is.

I understand too. They took too much of an direct approach with the trailers. It had shown it's hand way too early. If any movie needed the Abrams treatment, it's this movie.

Personally I like to see less-famous names like Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba headlining a movie then the same "A-list" stars dominating everything. Give people who aren't already huge stars a chance.

I think what other posters are saying Schlosser is that the movie should have had one star or one known actor in the movie.

Hah sounds like my older brother. When he watched the trailer with MOS he asked me why the Speed Racer directors were hired to make a Power Ranger movie

The fact that it doesn't have any A-listers is what's turning off some of the GA because usually in these big budget flicks the audience at least has someone familiar they can say "oh well at least that so and so is in it maybe it'll be good" where as with PR most people don't really know any of this cast aside from Charlie Day.

These studios need to learn that you do not need to put so much action in your first trailer for many of these movies. Save them for other trailers.

Even if this movie turns out to be ****, and fails spectacularly no one can say that Del Toro didn't make a gorgeous film. That first clip is just with all the colors and design.

This whole film makes me wonder what Del Toro could have done with transformers. I mean look at that fight. Its clear and stable. The robots don't look like spare parts mangled together clashing.

This is an experiment basically. No kind of merchandise tie-ins sans the figurines, no marketing to the brats, etc. Rarely do you have a summer movie of this ilk not being marketed like that. If if does well, we'll see.

I'll agree with one thing, the lack of any stars in the film is baffling. They had all that money and couldn't or didn't want to attract one star? Pretty odd business decision.

Tom Cruise was one of the candidates for Elba role at first.
