I agree that the movie looks much more appealing now.
If they make a sequel, would they call it Atlantic Rim?t:
Did you forget how well Trek did domestically?258mil domestic is not easy to get. It should be seen as somewhat of a win if the movie does like 175-190mil. I'm not too worried about overseas numbers because I think that asia will help it do at least decent numbers.I'll be shocked if this turns into kind of a sleeper hit of the summer. I suspect it'll do something like maybe Star Trek numbers if that. On the lower end of the scale, Lone Ranger.
You must have been one of the few seeing how cool it looked early on because I hated the first trailer. I found it deeply unappealing. The original vibe I got was a cheesy, dumb mess of a movie and the vibe I have now is decidedly not that. I now know what the movie is heading for and it looks good, thank god. Not introducing us to the characters and the world sooner was a stupid move by the studio. Period.I think that with the assumption that there was 99.999% that they weren't showing, it's ALWAYS looked this cool, right from the 1st trailer. This new stuff is just more from the same vibe that was there from the get-go.
Man I really hope the film has some kind of flashback or something to the first Kaiju vs Jaeger battle because the Kaiju called Karloff from the comic is a fantastic design and aptly named.
