Whoever made that did a great job,

That extended spot is great. A lot more effective than the trailers they have right now, they needed more character moments. Not just the fights. Hope it gets attached to the big released these next two weeks.

Ya that was great, they should have used that one in front of MOS.

WB and Legendary Part Ways

While Legendary Entertainment’s Thomas Tull is still talking to multiple studios about a new distribution and potential co-financing deal for its movies, Warner Bros. isn’t among them. Tull is set to end his production company’s eight-year partnership with the studio as their contract comes to an end.
Legendary and Warner Bros. have opted to part ways rather than continue discussions about extending their deal, sources close to both parties confirm to Variety.
The decision now enables Tull to move forward with more serious talks with the three interested studios looking to lure Legendary to their lots: Universal, Sony and Fox.
Legendary’s goal is to have a new deal in place before the July 4th weekend, according to multiple sources, with Tull saying any studio it decides to partner with would have to agree to “help fulfill the grand vision” he has to build a larger entertainment company that produces not just films, but TV shows, digital content and publishes comicbooks that appeal to fans of genre fare.

Ugh, what is wrong with this country...

I am really surprised this isnt tracking big or at least bigger than Grown Ups 2. I mean it's giant robots vs aliens. Maybe more humor in trailers. I dont know I thought the trailers sold it really well.

How reliable is tracking usually

It is indeed Giant robots vs aliens but for a lot of people that by itself just elicits groans these days.

It's tracking better in US Google search volume which is a decent indicator. So beats me. I don't know anyone who is interested in Grown Ups 2.

Tracking reliability is about as good as tracking the stock market. Only big companies with data like Google can do it with any accuracy and they don't give a **** about it so all they say is "We can do it with 94% accuracy, but who cares."

Adam Sandler fans and I guess families too since it looks like a kids movie.

WWZ blew past it's tracking. Rim still has a few more weeks to get it together and good reviews could help it. So far the problem with Rim's marketing has been the lack of focus on the characters. If you go by the marketing it's still not clear who the lead character is and what any of the characters are up to besides fighting monsters via giant robot.

Yeah they really need to introduce the characters some.

It's tough. This movie is kind of an unproven subgenre on film. No big stars either.

I think the campaign has been a little lax at times. Like I think they should've gotten a trailer out there a little earlier. The trailers tell us very little about the characters and why we should care about them. Like there should've been more of Charlie Day having some good lines in there. The trailers do a good job of showing us the action and smashes but very little appealing characters. I dunno, to me marketing is never a perfect science.

That being said, tracking is not always accurate.

I know we all dislike the Grown-Up films, but the movie is loaded with familiar faces and big stars in Kevin James and Adam Sandler (Salma Hayek to a lesser degree). America loves to go for dumb, goofy comedies. Plus its about older guys with families, so it brings in the adults and the kids. Grown-Ups arguably has broader appeal than something like Pacific Rim.

They need to play this new trailer in theaters, its their last chance to get some exposure.

that is true. All the trailers/spots ive seen play up the characters and leads.

i understand that grown ups is big, but idk I just dont see any buzzz surrounding it. Judging from the article im wrong, but even all my friends who like Grown Ups didnt know about the sequel until i told them months ago

I'm surprised at how little footage we've seen. Compared to MoS we've had nothing. Mostly the same stuff.

I want a new trailer that has mostly new footage and character/background info.

They do say that most people don't pay attention to movie marketing until 3 days before a movie comes out so....

I'm a huge Del Tero fan and I like Elba but the marketing for this film has been very frustrating to me from the start. Who the hell are we supposed to care about? How much humor does the movie have? What's going to be going on besides monsters/robot fights? For Del Toro's sake I hope the film is a big hit but Warners is not doing a great job so far. Hopefully people see it despite the marketing.

Grown Up's isn't the type of film that would have a big online presence, it's buzz can't be measured in the same way action blockbusters buzz is. I hope Grown Ups 2 somehow bombs but judging by the laughs during the trailer before my screening of This is the End I doubt it will. I hated the trailer with a red hot passion, personally.
