Pacific Rim - Part 6

On the topic of a Sequel, I think it CAN happen but there will have to be changes.

For starters your leading man was Charlie Hunnam who I liked in the role but isn't a bog box office star. The film probably hasn't broken even yet, so another 200 million dollar investment on the sequel might not happen.

The only way I think this works is they get a big star, a really big box office name to star as the co-lead with Hunnam and then maybe the studio will green light this.

I would like a stronger supporting cast and make the other Jaegers a little more powerful and intimidating.

I was like oh cool we finally get to see that Chinese Jaeger in action and it gets leveled quickly.

I did think the other Jaegers were a little short-changed, both the Chinese and Russian one barely lasted a minute in the Hong Kong fight yet they were meant to be two of the best.

Even Striker Eureka didnt get THAT much action really, but it got more than the others thats for sure.

Can't believe what a 180 I've done on this film but I love it now. That Hong Kong sequence is amazing. I didn't realize it was 20 mins long. Also love how the bluray is basically a school on Kaiju and Mechs.

Has anyone bought the collector's edition? Just wondering if its worth the extra money.

IMO collector's editions aren't worth it. How often do you actually look at or gain insight from the extras that can't already be found freely online? Just a personal opinion as I know some people actually find a value in them.

Best action scene of the year for me, and thats not easy when you consider we had some GREAT ones this year.

I almost picked this up today, figured it'd give me a up after feeling kind of down from dental work (so...many fillings, urgh), but I think I'm going to wait and bite on black friday instead.

Maybe it's just me, but the under water fight at the end is much clearer on bluray. In theaters I thought it was hard to make out. Also if they eventually green light a sequel I don't see it happening anytime soon as Del Toro has at least 3 other films going now.

Yeah as he describes it, his next two years are directly laid out in projects that are most definitely happening, The Strain pilot and Crimson Peak.

2nd time I saw it in the cinema, in 2D that time, I could make out the end fight much more, maybe its the 3D that makes it so hard to follow.

^Yep, and Stacker piloted a British one when he was younger, he was in it when he saved young Mako. Shame we never got to see more of it as it looked cool. Dont remember any other European country having one though.

No, unless you count small island territories, which would be why there wouldn't be a direct representation for Europe.

Don't forget the possible Monster series adapted from Naoki Urasawa's psychological thriller manga he's trying to get off the ground. He even showed his script treatment for what would be the entire first season of the series for his adaptation to Urasawa himself. And, taking Del Toro's tremendous respect for his Urasawa's work, and the fact that Del Toro submitted a pilot script to HBO already, I'm guessing that he loved it.

The whole world is. At the beginning of the movie they sum it up as every single country poured money, material, man power and whatever else they had to contribute to the effort to stop the Kaiju. Just because Europe had no territory in the fight doesn't mean they would be safe from invasion, they just donated their part to the U.S., Australia (the closest I think you get to Europe via British ties), Japan, China and Russia.

Intersected with terrible overacting and painfully hollow writing, the melodrama and banal fun that this move goes for – doesn't work.

I have no interest in a sequel, not only because I didn't like it, but also because I don't see any big potential for something better.
